Clemson didn’t drop off last year because of lack of portal use. Clemson hasn’t had the success they’re accustomed to because of coaching changes and players either struggling with injury or not being developed. Clemson still has a top 7 roster as far as talent goes in the country. They lacked development and coaching synergy when you lose guys like Coach Jeff Scott to the HC opening at USF, Tony Elliott to the HC opening at UVA, Brent Venables to the HC opening at Oklahoma, and a whole host of support staff going with those guys. Dabo hired from within, a thing you can do in spots, but across the board, to do it in the way he did was a mistake. He’s course correcting by hiring more guys with experience - Nick Eason, Matt Luke, and Chris Rumph as well as proven young talents like Garrett Riley.
The Clemson-portal narrative is tired and lazy. It’s not the biggest contributor to the recent slide.

Antonio Williams was hurt last year
He still played and didn’t stand out before he got hurt. I should’ve mentioned the injury, unfair to the kid not to. And I really like him as a talent still. He’s just got something to prove. That’s the only point I was making.

You didn’t list TJ Parker or Peter Woods… did you watch any Clemson games? Portal is the weak talking point people unfamiliar with Clemson go to to sound engaged. This is the deepest we’ve been at WR since 2020
Yeah TJ Parker is a solid player, was more of a passing downs threat, see if he can develop. Peter Woods also a good player, backed up Davis and Orhorhoro. I am not gonna mention EVERY player dude. That’s not my job. I gave a quick recap of the team, and offseason movement. This was my longest video I think. You can’t expect me to talk about everyone. That’s absurd.
Also, the defense of the transfer portal, PROVE IT WRONG! That’s what Clemson and Dabo has to do.
@@Basch_CFB I'm not saying mention every player on the roster. But leaving out two of the players the fans are excited about (not to mention Sammy Brown) seems a bit surface-level, as does the portal talk. The only real holes we could have filled with the portal are OL spots, which are the most developmental positions there are. The secondary is younger but Barnes and Terrell proved more than capable. The WR room is healthy for the first time in years and added two 5-star freshmen with the tall, outside build which we've been missing. I liked the video, but disagree with some of it.

Listen, just cuz I predict it doesn’t mean I’m right, and doesn’t mean anything to me. In the transfer portal and NIL era, I feel like Clemson has to prove people like me wrong, and the burden is on them, not my prediction video. I never really care who has success, I will own up to all of this if I’m wrong.
