This is the dumbest solution for running a social media platform and company one could come up with. People don't read every post they scroll through, you can get through a dozen posts with a single swipe, regardless of whether the posts are actually being read or not. It can take minutes to reach the cap, this literally defeats the whole purpose of Twitter.

Keep it going Yong!
Sounds like a plan, but the best strategy of preserving one's mental health is not using Twitter at all.
If you use twitter and take it seriously you literally need to attend the nearest circus
facebook, instagram, discord, tictok, reddit, why stop there.
@@johnniewalker3134 💯
Hahaha
Same goes for Reddit and whaddya know - they too have rolled out the stupidest change in the site's history (enormous paywall for third party API access). They only backed off for apps with dedicated help for the disabled.
Naturally, even though the site is harder to get used to, both the former users and devs of the old third party apps are now moving to Lemmy.
Between Spez kiing Reddit, Elon killing Twitter, and Zuccerberg killing Facebook, I might actually have to start going outside
It's done wonders for my mental health. They really did me a solid by destroying their billion dollar businesses.
Grass is lookin awful comfy right now lol
And UA-cam shenanigans as well.
If only those three hellspawn got the equivalent of what their platforms are getting.
That's just what 'they' want you to do! Don't go outside, it isn't real, you'll disappear! Wake up people!
I hope it destroys Twitter. This platform is one of the worst aspect of our modern society.
There’s a reason we teach people to think before they speak; because we live in a society and need to live with each other.
Twitter is divisive, controversial, and flames many issues brought up by a very small minority of the population, yet are treated like they’re 99% of us.
This platform needs to go.
Well why do you think Musk is doing this nonsense? He`s trying to clean up twitter fool. Musk is what social media need to clean it up, He literally gotten rid of most of it. You will be banned or get a timeout if you bash other people looks ethnicity ect. I never use twitter myself but Musk is good for it, He will clean it up just wait and see, He invested 40b in twitter no way he is making Twitter bad or worse, Its already better in some parts
At this point I’m almost convinced that Elon is actively TRYING to destroy Twitter lol.
He is not the CEO of it, he appointed someone else since he had no time to deal with it anymore, he did the big part of removing garbage from Twitter that censured people on it and removed unfairly people who were against the state ran and manipulated Twitter for left wing and "democrats" pushing their and minority agendas for self gain and ganging up on their opponents.
Huh. In that case I must say he's great actually.
Kidding. It sucks for those who use Twitter as a legit platform but as someone who doesn't use it and thinks of it as a cesspool then this is kinda hilarious XD.
@@-Zikade- If Elon Musk really wanted to destroy Twitter, he could've just not have bought it in the first place and watched it burn 🤣
@@Drox0713it was doing way better without him
I'm positive he is. Maybe this was his master plan all along or maybe this is payback for being forced to complete the purchase of twitter after he wanted to back out. Either way, looking like a case of "no regerts." Though the question remains: for who? So far, end users are up in the polls.
RIP all those companies that use Twitter as their primary customer support platform.
It's a terrible way to do it, they should use official channels rather than tweet memes in response to genuine customer complaints.
@@MedievalGenieno ? Twitter interface is easy to use and understand, not everyone knows how to search “contact infos” on bad made companies websites, like WhatsApp in South America , almost every companies has a WhatsApp contact number
If any companies choose to use these "social" media platforms (which don't guarantee any uptime and can change their policies at the drop of a hat) as support, they deserve everything they get.
There are plenty of professional and affordable solutions for support. Using Twitter or WhatsApp is just lazy. I know some companies are very small but these alternatives are not exactly breaking the bank.
Including this company! Get your shit together UA-cam aka Google.
You know what a website is? Lmao I know twitter has become the text-based info-king of social media for a while now, but come on people there was a before and there will be an after. Even now they can just put the proper links in their bios and people should be able to find them without even looking at a post.
Imagine having a well known problem courting advertisers and then making a conscious decision to GUARENTEE people can't see advertisements
Elon doesn't like advertisers.
@@Lightningstrike1220probably doesn’t like having to bow before the suits of other companies he sees as beneath him
all this to hide french riots and ukraine failed offensive.... lol
Only a matter of time before they make it that you see ads, and that is all you see when hitting the limit.
He took the platform private and having people pay for blue so there doesn't need to be advertisements
I understand a posting limit... But a reading limit? Wtf
There a DM limet now to
Just FYI the explosion of AI tools like chat GPT has meant that many public forums like Reddit. Twitter etc are getting hammered by bots who scrape the data from the site to ingest into a data model. This scraping has always occured to some extent but platforms are now having to consciously limit access to avoid being hammered (and because they probably want to monetize the data at a later date) due to the general availability of these tools. Not saying the decisions these platforms have made are the right ones but there are legitimate reasons these issues are cropping up.
And you don't think it has anything to do with him not paying his cloud bill?
@@pairashootpants5373no it had to do with bots keep making requests while they are limiter, this way they know Who to ban
@@shitbreak2k problem is this will not work as the bot just make a new fake acount scrape, deletes the old one , make a new one continuing scraping and so on.
@@pairashootpants5373No it clearly has nothing to do with the bill because Twitter was always inconsistent on paying the Google bill and the CEO has already had a talk with the CEO of Google's cloud services to clear that issue up. Read the news
@@Zack_Wester hey buddy, even Valve Anti-cheat knows to ban an IP or even a hardware id ban in situations like you are talking about. It doesn't do the greatest job, but it catches them eventually.
If he really wanted to stop data scraping, limiting it to like 5-10 posts a second would slow down automated systems to make them impractical, yet leave users with a mostly same experience.
Obviously that'd be a bad idea too, but it's insane at how badly executed an already bad idea has been implemented
it's almost like he didn't assess the business model, profitability etc projections before buying twitter.
@@lasskinn474 I mean, in all fairness twitter wasn't profitable to begin with. He bought a sinking ship, but that doesn't mean it isn't incredibly stupid when he tries to plug the holes with dynamite.
Sooner or later it'll blow up in his face.
I could kinda see the intention behind twitter blue and some of the earlier changes (not that I agreed) but this is just stupid.
@@lasskinn474 or he just plain didn’t care.
@@robertnapier624Oh he cared, he is just too incompetent to actually run things. He cares far more about the praise he gets from the Blue Checkmarks.
5-10 posts per second is too fast for a scrapper. If I'd to write one, I'd set delay between hits at random interval 3-9 seconds and cron job to run and terminate script in cycles, for days. that's not hard. but yeah, people will be getting the short stick for manual browsing and that's not fair.
Imagine if UA-cam only allowed you to watch a certain number of videos a day. I’d leave the platform yesterday. How Twitter users manage to ride this out is beyond me.
Idk either, no one voted or wanted it but it's run by a dumbass who thinks they know best.
sounds good, google should implement that
Maybe then you’d actually get shit done? 🤔🤔🤔
Exactly, it's driving me crazy to see so many complaints yet those same people keep using it. Same thing when Elin first bought it. People acted like a nuke went off, and then continued using Twitter. It's idiotic.
Yeah... but if that limit is far over healthy human limits (say, more videos than what adds up to over 12hrs of videos watched in a day), how does that harm you? 6k posts per day. In theory, if you spent just 3s reading each post, that would be 5hrs of twitter in a single day.
... How is this a problem?
you know what the best part is? it's not just viewing posts or responses that is limited.
you can't even send DMs, so twitter is completely unusable once you hit the post viewing cap (which i do in about 10 minutes).
Damn get a life then
You read 10k tweets in 10 minutes?

Watching Twitter DDOS itself is pretty glorious but its gonna be just as funny seeing all these creators move to other platforms crack because theyre getting the attention and reactions of an average joe.
Social media can be problematic but being too dependent on one social is pretty short-sighted on all fronts.
blud doesnt even know what "DDOS" is
I love how everyone's immediately letting people know where else they can be found. Huge vote of confidence for the shitshow that is now Twitter.
always has been a shitshow. No matter if it is functional or not.
People been doing that for every decision since Musk took over. This is the first time I've really agreed though.
Twitter is becoming communist Hitler-control,.😂small accounts get blocked/deleted and no freedom of free speech 🎤 😂😂😂😂 back to others social networks ❤❤❤😂
@PoisonInc People did the exact same thing in October/November when Melon Husk took over and after a week they went back to Twitter, like addicted numpties. THere isn't a lack of social media and other places to keep in touch with your communities. What exists is the lack of strong will to actually move away from the alt-right shitshow twitter has become in the past few years.
Now? Twitter has always been a shit show.
Imagine working in PR or Community Management and not being able to do your entire job, or making a post and not being able to engage with feedback.
Twitter is a scam at this point.
It's like saying that a cow is a bovine at this point. Twitter has been a scam literally since the time many Twitter users were born.
Elon Musk seems to have missed the negative sign in front of his IQ score that has a high absolute value.
And another thing is - I dont think theres even a single PR manager or anyone at all in the PR department at twitter anymore cuz Elon probably fired all of them too, and ever since the twitter buyout he's been his own one-man PR team, and ofc because elon's elon, he's scared away countless advertisers and done a terrible job running the site 😂💀
@@UlyssesK402 He is one of the richest men in the world, I dont think he is gona care about random comments like this.
Well, maybe Twitter isn't intended as the platform for corpos to conduct free PR operations in the first place.
If they had not included the "verified accounts" limit then it would at least d9 a great job at harshly limiting spam/fake accounts. But they just had to find a way to try and make money on it
This is such a good way to tell people to go "touch grass" lmao
I’m sticking to my strict limit of reading zero tweets a day
Wait, people were reading them?
Hear, hear!
I stick to not logging in at all
😹
Wiser words seldom spoken!
😹
Meanwhile, what many have missed, all this actually began with twitter implementing a log-in requirement to actually reading tweets, effectively forcing everyone to have twitter accounts.
Exactly this. Forced subscriptions have the opposite effect (with me at least): if I feel extorted into subscribing to a platform just to read it, I don't read it. This has been going for years, and my list of useful sites has been dwindling, but that's the winning corporate strategy apparently.
Actually thought this video would address this 😂
I hate it because there are a lot of good artists who are solely on Twitter and I want to see their work, but after I removed myself from that annoying website in 2019 and saw a genuine improvement in my stress levels I refuse to let it trick me into ever coming back.
Slowly turning into facebook
@@conspiracypanda1200 exactly. And there are many good news feeds, which are only available on that platform too, or are available on their own _and_ there, making twitter useful aggregator.
I feel like this might actually be worse than it seems.
Cause don't forget, ads are still being promoted (whatever is even left) and verified accounts are going to get boosted above unverified accounts. That's all still counted towards viewed tweets. So this is encouraging you to pay for verification both so you can view more tweets as well as have a better chance for your own tweets to get viewed before people can no longer do so.
So if this is all correct, this whole move is potentially a whole level of scummy more than we thought.
We can only hope all social media is removed
I completely understand how this is generally a bad idea for the platform overall, but as someone who has no interest in using twitter, I find this absolutely hilarious.
Yeah as some one who has never used Twitter and never intends to, I can see how it’s an issue in some regards but also I feel like maybe it’ll help people cause twitter tends to be chronically online. The less people have to rely on twitter for things the better, no?
@@wispisang As much as I see the act of restricting social media consumption as something positive, I'm not very optimistic that this will directly convert into healthier habits. Just remember what happened during the Tumblrpocalypse, with users flocking to Twitter and Reddit in droves.
This is yet another reminder that people will refuse to touch grass if that grass doesn't appeal to them. And when the habit of touching grass becomes unwanted to the masses, it's a sign that there's something very wrong going on out there...

Great for us, really stupid for them. Elon must be on something with all these dogshit decisions

Another "fun" thing that happened:
People without an account can no longer view Twitter at all.
It will automaticly load a "create an account" page no matter what you do. There were a few loopholes but those have been plugged over the last couple of hours.

How can some people still twist themselves like pretzels to keep saying he's actually a genius still baffles me. 🤦🏼♂️

That's an impressive level of dumbfuckery!
I imagine what's really happening is that he's broken something behind the scenes and is using this 'data scraping' measure as an excuse while the problem is ongoing, and then when the problem is fixed he'll just state that they're rolling back the changes due to popular demand, because he 'listens to the users', etc, etc.

Considering how the feed works, you end up "reading" posts just by scrolling through without actually reading them. Especially when twitter "suggests" tweets to you that are not from people you follow or interact with.
I live in Mexico, we have earthquakes all the time, and the local seismic alert has an automatic link with twitter , and those tweets let you know as soon as the earthquake is detected by their system even faster than the country’s seismic alarm, so, if someone reaches the limit from regular people, and there’s an earthquake, this is gonna prevent them from being notified, right???….

It's not that he understands nothing but like any skill it has to be actively practiced or you'll forget most things. These decisions he has made make no sense and are far too restrictive for what genuine humans on average can output compared to bots. It's not the first time he has made some baffling decisions either.
For example if the idea of the paid blue checkmark was to dissuade bots and using bots in information warfare but then it gives a visibility boost to all their tweets then anyone who actually wants to use bots to do harm can simply boost their effectiveness by buying the blue checkmark. It fails to address the issue and its answer is both misplaced and misguided. It does next to nothing to solve the issue and arguably even makes it worse than before.
If you’re actually reading 600 posts a day on twitter, you need to get out more, seriously
Read? I can understand limiting the amount of daily posts but READING?!
Seriously what are they thinking?
How can they see you reading from long distance? 😒 it’s not even fun when it used to be anymore.
Seriouly, i don't even post on twitter, i just like to see arts of my favorite vtubers
Also how to define reading? Scrolling comes under it? Open particular post?
@@bnick4431who knows, given how stupid and fickle minded Elon is.
But what I heard is that scrolling through posts counts as well.
I may lack a bit of empathy for the platform itself but it sucks for the people who need it to run their businesses and customer support services on there i hope they can find their way around that...
"it sucks for the people who need it to run their businesses and customer support services on there"

Oh no no no. Musk is the free speech absolutist. Whatever he does is for the greater good of freespeech. Thus the limiting of tweets per day and view count. ...pffft.
I've seen several posts from Mastodon that imply that there's even more in play here.
The first involves Twitter's (read: Elon) refusal to pay Google for the usage of their cloud servers. That contract renewal deadline was June 30th (in other words, yesterday). So apparently, they're rushing to move stuff off the cloud ASAP.
The second involves Twitter DDOSing itself as the website shows the rate limit error but continues to try to send requests for content, getting a refusal from the server. And that around 10 times per second.
Now imagine that, but with millions of users all having the same happen at once.
I'm no techie, but that explanation makes sense.
I kinda think there's something else going on behind the scene, and this one seems plausible. Need to be pinned.
This is what I heard. So believable.
This is pretty simple minded thinking and those are ideas might sound plausible but are not.
Its not like every user will click reload 24/7 and simply stop after a maximum of a few minutes. Also not loading content is still loading less content than if the user would be loading those 10 posts and then swiping over them to load another 10 posts where a lot of them contain images or videos. which would generate waaaaay more load than simply denying those 10+ requests. Yes it still generates load but millions of people swiping through their time line is much worse load wise.
DDOSing itself? Oh man, that's so funny it's sad! Thanks for this detail :)
It SEEMS that’s because he refused to pay the $1 billion contractual fee Twitter has with a cloud service provider (some say Google, some say AWS) and they are trying to get everything away from those services before the end of the current subscription.
Funny thing is that by doing this, a LOT of other sites and platform that use Twitter has a login method or to share content aren’t working anymore and Twitter is essentially DDOS-ing itself right now…
Pretty pathetic way of doing business. I get the idea of saving the billion dollars BUT maybe they should have thought about it beforehand…
"World's Richest Man" yet he can't drop 1 Billion to pay for the Servers?

I SEE THIS AS AN ABSOLUTE WIN!!!
I found an artist a few years back on Twitter, being entirely logged off while doing so. I have given that artist like $20 for a shirt to support a kickstarter.
Now, if this actually stays. I can't do that anymore. I get data scraping fears, but I am not giving up my anonymity to be able to just load a webpage.
Small artists are gonna be nonexistent at this point 😭
You know, the crazy thing is, despite how many people are on there in a given time you can have periods of the day where there's literally no one on Twitter, because everyone has reached their limits
Also nobody will be able to read the fucking ads. His advertisers will be charmed by his genius.
I hope Yong out won't go away. It's a good reason to watch till the end
With each passing day, I feel more and more justified in my choice to almost never use Twitter. I won't come anywhere close to the limitation, just use it to keep tabs on a couple things & then I piss off ASAP. For anyone who uses it any longer than a couple of minutes, I guess you know who to yell at, at least.
Calling it now, he’ll add unlimited reads to the subscription model.
Introduce a problem, sell the solution.

That honestly wouldn't surprise me

Ya scrolling down means read. It's bs
Twitter is on the same social level as picking your nose and eating it. The closest i have to having anything to do with it is uninstalling it from any new phone or tablet during setup.
The only reason I even use Twitter is to follow and find new amazing artists and some of my friends who also do art now don't even know where to go. Amazing job as always from Elon.
There's always Newgrounds for those looking for a supportive and expressive community.
Kids these days do not know anything. Nice try with the newgrounds plug, that word will be lost on anyone not 30+ years old. no one who actively uses Twitter or any form of social media is doing so in good faith. All those social media companies just steal and sell yer data at best, and steal and sell yer card information or yada yada at worst. The internet has successfully destroyed our shitty society that needs a big rock to hit it around ~150 years ago.
Pillowfort is also new.
Yea, for all the faults twitter had I found it to be my favorite social media feed. I get to follow youtubers, artists, news, events, like minded people all in one feed. I like seeing art of the artists I follow sprinkled throughout a variety of content. I don't like going to an art feed to ONLY look through art.
this is the point. there is nowhere else to go that isnt going to pull the same shit eventually. They are going to monetize your engagement on social media and push as much access to the internet into those sites as possible so you either pay or you stay out of the loop. This is web 3.0 methods being tested in the current space. They will push news, shopping, job hunting, and everything else they can into this space so you are FORCED to buy into it to engage in any sort of online commerce. Amazon has been doing it for a couple decades now and everyone else is on the train now.
This made me realize how much I use Twitter. Not being able to even read tweets is crazy
😂
Fuccing ridiculous
It's insane how E.M. is making Twitter un useable.

Damn bought Twitter for $44B just for it to be in this status. LOL I love how he tweeted about him reaching the limit cap because of people commenting on the situation.
This is the kind of dystopian impossibilities that I can only dream up in my head. The fact that this is pure reality (outside of April) is mental.
What’s worse is if you don’t have a twitter account, you’re unable to read ANY post whatsoever. I was among affected by it. I usually read twitter posts but yesterday, I find myself being unable to read anything. I either have to login/signup or not read any post at all.

@@TheMaw365 I didn’t have an account because I never needed one. I would never engage on Twitter since its pointless. Social media as we know it was a mistake anyway in my honest opinion; never seen such widespread toxicity on the web until then.
Its like being allowed to only watch 20 videos on UA-cam a day. People who make a living making art or anything else and building a community alongside on Twitter are completely fucked.

It sucks because I decided to start a side hustle doing writing commissions, and I made a twitter profile a week ago to help with that and get eyes on my other socials to build a brand and to reach clients. So now it feels like life basically said "no" to me trying something new.

At this point, you'd be hard pressed to find a social media platform NOT kicking themselves and making terrible decisions. It's been a month of complaining about twitch, reddit, and youtube so much that twitter joining in on the drama is expected. That said, I tried testing out to see how quickly i hit the cap and I haven't yet. At least, at my normal pace. I don't scroll through the rock bottom of tweets with no likes normally.
