Some German folk dress, I believe? Great to know you'll have your first live gig! I also have had mine a few weeks back as a one man experimental project 😊
Don't you think acoustic violin shopping is kind of an Harry-Potter-looking-for-his-magic-wand experience ? That's just how it felt for me when I've finally found "the one" ;-)
@@RockStarOscarStern634 look 2:55 her acoustic violin has geared pegs (they look like normal pegs, but there are gear machines inside them). This looks much better than those open-geared machines.
I started learning violin 2 years ago and stopped because of work and just life in general getting in the way, I used to watch your videos to see your progress and may I say after taking out my violin and I regret ever allowing life to get the best of my violin practicing, watching how far you've come not only makes me regret stopping but motivates me so much to get it going again. You sound amazing and you are wonderful proof that adult beginners can definitely become successful violinists. Please can you make a motivational video about your progress and just all about your journey. Congratulations and well done. 🙌 respect
That is so sweet to say, thank you so much! ❤️ I really hope you can get started again. Eventually it's a matter of priority, although there are ofcourse always times when you play less than other times because of work or other things that need to be done. But I hope you'll stick with it now, music brings so much joy!
congratulations on joining a band. I can hear the great progress you have made. Welcome to the world of electric violins, there are some great amp simulators out there, I use a Line6 POD 2.0 which I originally bought for my guitar but now use for my electric violin (NS Design Wave), then plug into my DAW for layering up my compositions.
My good violin since 2008 was a Shar, Carlo Lamberti Master Series that at the time was going for $1,750. It's a really nice one. Just recently I bought a 1906 Saxony violin off of Ebay for $850 that blows the Lamberti out of the water. I also bought a French violin made in 1850 that needed work on Ebay for $495 and the violin MAKER I sent it too will charge $350. Hopefully that one (from a maker that is registered on Tarisio) will also outclass the Shar violin. There are gems on Ebay.
I just bought a Yamaha V5!! It’s technically a student violin but ohh my gosh, it sounds so good compared to the cheap one I got to learn on! I’ve only been playing for 2 months but it’s frustratingly wonderful! 😁😁
For a bit over half a year now I have my own good violin and bow, too and still love it. It makes so much difference and especially the bow makes things a lot easier. Speaking of that I noticed your right wrist is very stiff. Being relaxed there will make bow changes smoother as well as fast passages easier to play...also your pinky isn't touching the bow(which is important in terms of compensating the bow's weight)...try working on that because it makes a huge difference in sound quality...keep up the great work though😉
One is never enough, that is why i have 3 guitars (1 Epiphone Les Paul Custom electric guitar, 1 Ibanez AEG70 electric acoustic guitar, and 1 Casio DG20 Digital Guitar) and 7 keyboards (not listing here), 12 harmonicas, 2 congos and two bongos. I only have one violin (an Yamaha sv-200 electric violin) and after playing violin for 3 weeks, i need another violin, preferably an acoustic violin with a lot of wood. I dont play my sv-200 turned on, because I can play it off through a microphone! Violins are fun!
Omg this is so great! I love the violins!! I was playing the violin for over two years now, but my neck continued to hurt. So much that the doctor advised to quit the violin.. So i decided to play cello and next week is my first lesson!! Exited!!
Very nice. Finally you're not renting a violin. I have the same chin rest too, very comfortable. I hope you feel comfortable with the chin rest on the electric as its more on the side. You are doing very well. Keep using that 4th finger too. You could replace an open string notes with the 4th finger in the irst position so the finger gets some practice. Keep them coming.
Yes, I'm very happy with it! I put the same chinrest on my electric as well and it feels super comfortable now. The standard one was nice too, but I missed that ridge to hook behind my jaw so my neck felt a bit tense after playing. And no worries, my pinky is getting enough attention these days. ☺️
If you can, definitely upgrade your acoustic. It will make a world of difference! An electric violin is indeed awesome too, although it can never replace a good acoustic. 🙂
I saved up money over the course of 6 years to eventually buy my own violin. It's a coincidence I also found the electric violin on a website with secondhand stuff for half the retail price. So if you want to buy a violin, why not save up for one?
Just seen the "two violins "video. Beautiful instruments, well presented. An outside suggestion~ if possible, try a set of D' addario strings~ on using them on bass/guitar/acoustic guitar/ nylon string guitar, have found them to be the best. They maintain their integrity (tone )& last a long time. Till the next viewing.
I have only been playing violin for less than 13 months and already own 3 violins. A beginner level violin, a intermediate level violin and an antique French violin that needs some repair before I can play it.
Keep up the good work! I have one suggestion though, in your bow hand you tend to lift your pinky up, much of the weight should be relying on the pinky to balance it out in your bow.
You didn't play your old violin because it's way too heavy. I have a very similar one and I just purchased the Yamaha '200 because of it's weight. It is simply the best in it's class that has a reasonably similar weight and feel to a good old fashioned acoustic.
@@phuongla4512 based on the specs I believe that the SV-250is about 120g lighter than the SV-200. You're probably right about this being due to the separate electronics.
I have been practicing Tam Lin last year, but couldn't get it up to tempo and it sounded rubbish and not at all like the song at a lower speed. 😅 I want to try again soon though.
Hi Marijke 🙋 4:00 As much as I enjoy playing "Drunken Sailor" on my violin, I prefer to play it on my concertina with feeling, phrasing, vibrato, and all that good stuff. As far as violins are concerned, I'm from the old-school. I only play acoustic violins. 😉 🎻 ♫
Now what should I wear during my first gig? 😉
A beautiful red dress :) and a leather jacket :)
Some German folk dress, I believe? Great to know you'll have your first live gig! I also have had mine a few weeks back as a one man experimental project 😊
Something what makes you feel incredibly beautiful and confident
wear whatever you feel comfortable performing in some artists are completely in to creating their own custom wardrobes to perform in
The same clothes you are wearing now. You look great!

@@RockStarOscarStern634 well.. they look better (arguably) and it doesn't show (from a distance) that you're "cheating" with geared tuners :)
Perfect description!
How is the electric violin with the headset? Does it sound like an acoustic? I am in a town home and don't want to harass my neighbors
I’ve been wanting this electric violin for years! 😍
It's an awesome violin, it plays so nice! (And it looks cool too. 😎)
When I saw the miniature, for a second I thought you were Lindsey Stirling. Congratulations. Now you're going to have a lot of fun with those two
Haha! Well she does have a Yamaha too. 😉
What model of bow do you you?…carbon or wood, thank you

Please explain what do you mean with the pegs with fine tuners?
They are geared pegs, they spin slowly like finetuners. So they are pegs and finetuners in one.

Thanks a lot! ❤️
I like keeping up with your experiences 💕🎻
Thanks! Thanks for showing who made your acoustic violin.
It's always fun to dive into the details if you ask me. 😊
What’s up with your technice of a lifted pinky on the bow? Shouldn’t it be laying on it? Just asking
Just something I'm still working on. My pinky is stubborn. 😛
So beautiful and expressive. And the violins aren't bad either.
The acoustic is probably not a master level instrument, but waaay better than what I had. In my eyes it's a great instrument. 😊

Is violin playing and UA-cam your full time job or just a hobby?
It is a hobby, but gradually turned into a "side job". But I hope to do this fulltime, eventually.

How much did the acoustic violin cost?
It was EUR 2500,- Good thing I'd been putting money in a jar for 6 years. 👍
I have a student level violin and am thinking about getting a nicer violin. An electric violin sounds awesome!

Just as an observation… Isn't the fingerboard a bit too low?? It's just that it seems that the fingerboard is touching the acoustic violin. 0:26
No idea, but I guess it's fine.
One day... one day... I will be able to buy two violins in a week... or maybe just afford a silent violin 💭

Did the people who sell violins tell you that if you have two violins you play twice as well?
Lol!
You need to practice 40 hours a day to play thrice as well.
