Hegemony: Advanced Automa General Rules and gameplay

This video will teach players how to play Hegemony, an asymmetric economic and political simulation. This video is the 12th in a series of rule videos about Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory. It will cover the basics of playing the Advanced Automa. Other videos cover general rules as well as the four individual factions, and the Crisis and Control Expansion.

How did you like playing against the advanced AI? I hope to start a game against it next week. I know it seems like a lot of work but it will be worth it if it puts up a good fight.
How much extra work is it once you get the hang of it?

I have play tested it a bit to make sure that I had a handle on everything in preparation for the videos, but I still need to do a full game (which will be the next step for me). My sense is that it will take a little more time to do the checks, since you have to account for all 4 actions on the action card instead of one, but the process is not overly difficult. The biggest slowdown will be when you have to calculate totals for the checks. Counting companies, costs of goods, and differences between opponents influence and your own influence (just a few examples) will be the biggest. I’m planning to record videos with simple and advanced setups, so I guess we’ll see from the video lengths (even if you don’t watch them) how much time it ultimately adds. :)

I’m going to try one in the next few weeks. I’m doing a 4 player with 3 simple Automa next, and then I’ll do a few with advanced. The hard part will be figuring out how to (1) have table space and (2) be able to reasonably get it on video. :). But my goal is to get to the 4 player advanced Automa.

@@GoldenAura32 I’m glad you appreciate them! I’m trying to fully explore this game and one of the groups of people I am thinking about when doing the videos is people in your position. It’s good to understand what a game is before deciding whether to get it or not. I’m hoping to finish out the simple Automa with 4P and then I’ll get those advanced automas going. :)
