I have no God but if I did this would be my instrument to communicate, it speaks purely from the heart. It’s so emotionally engaging I understand why the majority of English speaking nations shy away from it. So beautiful.

So beautiful. Almost like a lost language, that we innately understand, and once hear it, we freeze, suspended in awe.
It makes me feel like the 1.5M Armenians lost in 1915, suddenly have a voice, whispering through the wind into the duduk.

Just something else, almost like you have translated the voices of our ancestors speaking to you on a dark, cold, windy winter night. Only a spiritual connection deeply in sink with other elements and planes could play something so hauntingly beautiful as this. As you can tell, I loved it. World Class unforgettable.

I'm sure there is happy duduk playing...but the instrument's strength is to portray a haunting sadness. After you hear it, if you concentrate, you feel cleaner somehow. I guess it is cathartic & must be a kind of Armenian " blues". The duduk has a beautiful sound overall.

It's probably a duduk and reed from Vamelo in Armenia.. right?! They're made with lots of love and expertise. I've been to their workshop and saw the whole process and met the passionate people. Amazingly fun and informative! :D When I bought mine there I asked for some names from teachers and they gave me his. They said he always buys his stuff there. So if you're looking for one like this, that's the place to order one if you ask me ;-) Great service, top product, super friendly people :)

You made a very goog instruction video. Now I know a little how to handle and play the duduk. Whwn I was young, I play the Hoboe. This is different to play. Thank's fore your instructions. Your sound, when you are playing the duduk, is more gentle. That's need more practice, I think. Yhank tou fore your inspiration

I've always wanted to know what instrument made this sound and I found this video by mistakenly typing "mey" while stretching..lol
I got my Duduk (A) in December and I've had a problem with the reed - when you place the pitch regulator onto the reed, about 15 seconds into playing, the pitch regulator vibrates off the reed and just wobbles at the top - do you have any tips for this? Thanks :)
Hi Simon! If the regulator is shaking when you play the duduk, you should take the regulator down more but if the reed is in the ideal wideness already, you should wet the inside of the regulator in your mouth for stopping the shaking. I hope my answer is enough for you.
