Nice review, thanks! One biggie though: When spawning in a room with only two areas, you do actually spawn ALL 4 “things“: the first two go in the nearer area, the second two in the area that's further away from the exploring agent. That's crucial, because otherwise you might end up with important clues or points of interest not being spawned, basically ruining the scenario. Cheers!
-edit- I realized I actually played this right. I've actually had the game for a month and been under embargo. Played it a bunch when I first got it (I was excited), and then had to sit on it. Memory is terrible, especially when you think you KNOW what you don't actually know :) It's correct that this is a relatively significant rules flub, especially with more agents.
You should totally buy the new Omnibus collections of Hellboy! It's the best way of getting into the story. I'm sad I missed out on the Kickstarter for this game, mostly for the mini's.
I got an early review copy about a month ago. This is the straight retail version coming out shortly, and not part of the Kickstarter... which I think is just now starting to arrive for folks.
I just received my copy and managed to play the tutorial and the first case and i really enjoyed it. Kickstarter version is massive and adds a ton of replayability.
Joel, thanks for reviewing the game and creating the video.
Solid review.
I bought the collectors edition directly from Mantic. Curious to play it. I heard the minis are really good, that drew me to it initially.
Nice review, thanks!

Nice review, thanks for posting. 👍👍

Ya seeing some of the painted minis, I expect Hellboy fans would just want those.
I'm sure lots of KS backers also paid for the resin versions upgrades and will end up with a set of plastic versions they won't use and will sell.
You should buy the library edition volumes instead I think they offer much more
Looks really fun, almost reminds me of a reimplemented version of the Gears of War board game, and that's my favorite solo board game
mine too, i still play it to this day!
Importantly: Min-yola, not Mig-nola. Secondly, www.mignolaverse.com is a great resource for new Hellboy fans. Check it out.
Are you in the states? Did you ever get a shipping notification? I am still waiting on my kickstarter. Did it come UPS, Fedex, etc?

I got a shipping notification about a week ago for my and got my kickstarter copy today. Maybe the email was in your spam or something?
It shipped through Fedex then USPS in the US. Mine arrived today.
The activation system reminds me of Conan.
“If your more of a euro player, your probably not still watching the video” 😂
😇😇😇
I guess I'm out then...
Mr. Ekshun Ah that was just a joke I was making toward the end of the video. I was actually making the case this would appeal to that style.
Joel, this review is for the retail version only, right?
That’s correct.
Hi! I bought the Kickstarter Edition on Ebay. Hope it's really good. I love the first two films done by Guillermo del Toro.
I just received my copy and managed to play the tutorial and the first case and i really enjoyed it. Kickstarter version is massive and adds a ton of replayability.
Euro......."hisses like a cat" lol
Haha! :D
So straight out of the box, a retail copy, how do you feel replayability is?
I don't remember specifically. I think I covered that in the review portion towards the end iirc.
Thank you so much for this review, been on the fence about it, especially as a Hellboy fan.
Glad it was helpful!
