I know this video is 3 years old. But after having the car for 7 years, the rotary dial finally gave out. Now Im not a car guy, but this video was easy enough to follow that i changed the part in under 1 hour in the Texas heat. Thanks my dude, I hope others find this video and save themselves some stupid labor prices.
My car's shift knob gets locked up and won't move out of park when its 40 degrees or below out for the night and the car is cold. I have to let the car cabin warm up for 20 - 30 mins before it will move again. I bought anew part and was looking for info on how to take the center console apart. Thanks for posting this short quick video! Gotta love youtube and people like you for posting.
Yeah worked perfect after, wish I would of replaced it a lot sooner. I sold the ford fusion though now, I have a 2022 Tesla model 3. No going back :D@@frostygoogle9268
Thanks you saved me about $250‐300 on labor alone part was $175 from ford and there was 2 more screws like you said so 6 total. Thanks alot and I appreciate you ! And after looking at the old looks like pop/beer got in there made it all sticky hard to turn gonna try and clean it up for back up 1.. and if you get time send me info for the tail lights mod I would like the the truck lid ones to light as well my OCD goes crazy when I look at them.
Nick, on my 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid, my wrench light came on & I got code P085D-00 Gear shift control module "A" Performance. The car is running fine w/ no change in performance. Is this something that has to be replaced or is there a quick fix? maybe adjust the sensor? Thank you.
I'm finding alot of conflicting info on whether or not you have to program the dial shifter to your car after installing a new one. Is it plug and play or is there programing you have to do for it to work
My dealer is claiming it does but I haven't seen anyone else say it needs to be programmed. Ordered the part and will find out if they were lying or not
@@Nickthecarguy Hey Nick, do you recall the part # for yours? I'm curious if it is HG9Z7P155D. With that being the newer that replaced all the others. I'm wondering if that requires programing and maybe older versions (like HG9Z-7D443-K ) do not.
Hi Nick, after replacing my e-shifter with a new one, I started to hear the motor pulling the gearbox cable for any gear change, this has never happened before. Can you tell me if I need to reset any module after this replacement?
Hey Nick. Ik I’m late to the video, but I’m having an issue with my shifter. From time to time it gets stuck on park and doesn’t wanna go to reverse, but after waiting a little while and messing with it it eventually goes. After a couple days of doing this nonstop it randomly gets stuck on neutral when I am trying to put my car into park from drive. And stays there and doesn’t budge. Only way I’ve been able to get it to go on park after it gets stuck in neutral is by taking out the battery and putting it back in, any thoughts on what the issue is may be? I got the wrench light scanned and the code P068A popped up.
@@Nickthecarguy I haven’t, but it hasn’t even been 6 months since I got this battery so idk if that would be the issue. I was told it could be the PCM that’s having issues
Hi Nick. My 2017 Fusion from time to time wouldn’t shift from drive to park only into neutral and sometimes I had to restart the car. Just recently I turned it on and could shift out of park I got a wrench on the dashboard saying to check the manual. Do you think this might be a good first step in fixing that issue? Thanks so much.
Why did you change it Mine when put it in P and release or press the brake it make noise like it stuck and trying to move Is that what happened with you or another reason?
I've noticed, occasionally, on my 2017 fusion that when I try to put the vehicle in reverse (from drive) it will only turn to Neutral. The dial feels locked. I have to spin it back a forth between drive and neutral a couple of times before it goes to reverse. Any ideas what the issue could be?
I have the wrench and mines is stuck in park. My mechanic replaced the gear shifter actuator. Was he supposed to do this instead? Because, tho he replaced the actuator, the wrench is still there [comes and goes] and when it does appear i can't move the trans out of park. I give the rotary dial a couple of light taps and it's operable and I'm able to drive. Shut the car off and on, and I have to do it again eventually. I'm thinking he should've replaced gear shift module from the beginning (just like your doing in the video) seeing as though he couldn't get the wrench off the dash for good, the problem hasn't been properly addressed. Sorry for the book, but please tell me if I was right all along... did i need the gear shift actuator replaced. OR *Should he have just replaced the GSM 1st???*
@@Nickthecarguy I frigging knew it!!! Mechanics never listen to me!!! Meanwhile I'm usually right! I feel like I just paid "$580" for nothing. I most likely didn't need the actuator worked on.
