Chopta in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary provides some excellent winter and spring birding, and fantastic landscapes. A mix of pine, deodar and rhododendrons forest. with kedarnath sanctuary attached village Makkumath which has a bigger Van panchayat. which is habitat of many himalayan birds.
Chopta valley is in the Garhwal Himalayas, has such a wonderful variety of habitats, it has become one of the most popular birding destinations for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers of all skill levels. With species like Himalayan Monal, Koklass, and Kalij, megpie, Pheasants, Yellow-rumped Honeyguide, a variety of woodpeckers, and many more.
Mr. Yashpal Singh Negi is the man who’ll take you to every nook and corner of this region, who created two dozen nest in his home. he spend his life in bird watching and now he is a prefect birding guide.
