She did a great interview there, touched a lot of points that had actual solutions instead of just pointing out what's wrong. Well done

I was very impressed with Naomis positive response to, at times, examples of classic negative BBC Paxman style journalism. Well spoken, thought provoking and focused on solutions rather than almost revelling in the gloom of our times.

its not the bbc, and its not paxman style, jon snow is doing his job by questioning her statements and debating the point.

Fantastic interview. Reasoned, courteous, evidenced, humane and most of all joined-up. Wouldn't it be great if we all really listened to what Naomi Klein is saying, abandoned our political tribal feelings and looked optimistically at change that could really tackle the problems caused by globalisation, affecting ordinary people all over the world. Listen without prejudice, I say and if you wouldn't normally consider solutions like this because of an aversion to something labelled, say, 'socialism', try to engage with the arguments based on evidence and see if you can really disagree with anything she says.

I'm a US citizen, and I attended a 20,000-person Trump rally the month after he won the election, and all I saw were middle class and upper middle class people. I also heard Pence speak at a smaller gathering, and in 2020 I heard Ivanka speak. Again, they were all educated, middle and upper-middle class people.
In addition to this, I have engaged with hundreds of Trump voters in my personal life over the last 5 years. Again, everyone that I know is VERY well-versed in politics and economics --- most are "educated", contrary to what the Left likes to say about Trump supporters.
I have coastal liberal friends, who sound much like these two, who have never met in-person a Trump voter, other than me. Their views of Trump and Trump voters, much like these two, are based upon the limited information they receive from the Liberal media echo chamber.
I haven't owned a TV in 20 years, and when I did own one I had no cable and never watched it --- my wife watched it. So I have never once seen an episode of "The Apprentice". I don't have a vision or image of Trump as someone who "fires people". My prior knowledge of Trump was from the '80s when I was in college in NY and he was much in the news, and from a 60 Minutes interview with Barbra Walters, in which I was SUPER-impressed with Trump's kids, and thought, "Wow, if he has kids that good he must be a great Dad."
If only these two knew what they were talking about.

If this gentleman would simply get out of Naomi's way to provide her comments, that would be helpful. He wastes much time by getting in the middle of her answers, all while saying he's trying to hear her comments. he seems to have this glorified self-image that doesn't permit him to serve as a skilled journalist and questioner. This is to be expected among corporate news channels and even the BBC Brotherhood of Blovietors. They're under such pressure to veer conversation where their bosses want it.

It's interesting the points she makes, but then I wanted John to ask her about Trump, in that he is all that represents neo-liberalism. He is corporate capitalism personified. Yeah, he wasn't a politician already part of the system but he had always been one of the biggest elites in the game yet the people voted for him anyway. Thoughts?

The economic/personal financial reasons are intriguing, but doesn't itself explain "Why *Trump*, and not equally "bad boy" Ted Cruz, or Bernie Sanders?". Seems to me Trump's real appeal is his macho, bulldozer personality (Americans tend to confuse that with leadership).

I've bought and read No Logo, The Shock Doctrine and This Changes Everything and I've hugely enjoyed them all (particularly The Shock Doctrine): the masses of research, the highly engaging and readable writing style, the clear structure and narrative line. I Haven't read No Is Not Enough yet but I'm getting the impression that it's going to be focused heavily on Trump and internal US politics and not so relevant for anyone living outside - though I do appreciate that the US president impacts the globe and not just the US itself.

I think she is well intentioned and I have a left ideology (NOT THE USA LEFT but the rest of the WORLD's LEFT... without liberalism) but I want to vomit each time Naomi talks Against the RIGHT wing like they are a subspecies, this is so SAD that she FOLLOWS this DIVISIVE narrative... cause in FACT there is not Right or Left... there is just a division encouraged and hatred ... within the nation... to keep this same nation distracted from their real power WHICH MEANS (Demos : people, Kratos : power) ... You don’t know the most important thing there is to know... WHAT really IS and WAS supposed to be Democracy... listen closely... The ancient Greece invented the term democracy and it was about PEOPLE voting for LAWS and NOT at all about ELECTIONS or a new kind of « kings » and elite that would RULE US !!!! ... There were NO elections in the original democracy... this is just a lie to make you believe you are having a democracy... so you will shut up, submit, be divided from left, to right wing and hate other citizens ... When the monarchies started to fall, Kings, nobles and rich people were so afraid of people taking power they found out how they could keep influencing decisions and make people believe they have some kind of power ! Oligarchs and the political elites would be their friends, puppets… and people would hate eachothers !! It is time to LOVE the people and beat this system down !!
