  • Known as the manatee capital of the world, Crystal River, Florida is a very cool place to explore by boat. In several days camping on my C Dory 22 I was able to see crystal clear springs, manatees, beautiful Gulf of Mexico islands and flats and even a couple tiger sharks! Add this place to your list.....

You ran into the crazy kayak folks with vests didn't you lol? I was there about 10 years ago and got assaulted by an old lady on a kayak wearing a vest. She said I was too close to the manatees and proceeded to slap the water with her paddle, hitting my leg. Needless to say, we had a few words, especially since I was a good 10ft from the manatees!!! I have a feeling you had a run-in with one of those crazies too 😂

You may have answered it before... but why not leave your anchor on the pulpit and handle from the front hatch? Looks like there may need a top loop on the pulpit manufactured. But seams safer single handed than walking around. Like the videos

Hey Trip , consider a motorized mechanism to lower and raise your soloar pannel, when you need to get in the skinny waters with low bridges depending on tide. Every inch counts in those situations.

Yeah we went to the spring that was closed here the bird was we went in the season it was so crowded no manatees at the spring but you can find them around the area but yeah, when I say crowded,I mean at least 175 to 250ll people ...around the corner is the house where Elvis stayed for a long while before he and right when he hit huge megadfame .it's recognizable from a coupkle movies, and documentarys.he would go deep sea fishing there alot .he was engaged to some girl before precilla.

Can I suggest getting some sort of flexible pole(flag pole maybe?) that you can temporarily attach on the front(where you can see)where the top of the pole would be just a few inches higher than the solar panels when you're a little iffy on clearance. Then you can see if the pole touches the bridge or not and know if you can make it.

Trip, I know you get a million suggestions. I only add to the list. Get a top water lure. My pick... Mirro0-Lure propbait. They're easy to order. Every bait shop has Mirro0-Lure "Top Dog". A great tpo water lure but it requires a little skill to "walk the dog". If you get the prop bail.....take the front prop off. You can pop it, slow reel or fast reel.... ZERO coordination required. Idiot proof. It doesn't cast as far as Top Dog...
I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND clamping down the barbs with piers. Then the hooks come out of everything. Lines, cloths, people, the fish.... I rarely lose fish from barbless. Top water is the easiest fish finder lure. Treble hooks are dangerous. CLAMP BARBS DOWN. Trust me.
Lastly.... Colors don't matter. Any color. Especially with top water.

Another great one! I really enjoy seeing the things you eat. I changed my diet and started fasting after watching your videos 5 years ago. Not bc I had issues with weight but I always felt sick. Thank you for forever changing my life

Yo bro I think we seen each other out on the water before. You'll know once you see my unique little houseboat. I have some videos on my Channel. Unfortunately the wiki Wachee River is starting to get tight restrictions in some areas. I usually stay in the Hudson Tarpon Springs area. I'm getting out there this weekend. See you!

I live in Crystal River and Kings Bay is the best place on earth. That bridge has claimed many boat tops. LOL Three sisters is night but Hunter Springs is very nice.

Trip love the videos. Butt never put or pull anchor from stern. Number one coast guard no no. Be safe and love the videos.

Why? There's no current or wind.

Plus.... You can see... He only "throws" to the stern. Then he walks the line up to the bow. Then the boat swings in line before he puts a 2nd rear anchor.
Me??? In a "no current" and "shallow" place..... I'd use a single pole. I'm surprised he doesn't have a power pole on the back.

@@francus7227 10-4 I can see in a storm or at long term anchorage you wouldn't anchor from the stern, but in Trip's situation it's also about what he has available to him. Poles are great in skiffs and in almost any small boat.

      @@chiphill4856 Look at

The anchor is off the bow.
He is ONLY throwing and pulling out the anchor from the starboard side.
I've been in a 22" bay boats with a 150.... same weight of a vessel... with just a stake pole and a power pole.... In calm conditions, the boat ain't going nowhere. 90% of Florida's inshore water near the waterline is low current, low waves, low depth... Some places....anchors are abusive to the bottom vegetation when a simple pole will work fine AND the boat can swing 360° with the wind or current changes. Sure....You need TWO anchors in the boat for different conditions. But a push pole is a great extra tool. You can push the boat closer or away from the shore or hook the dock.... it's too easy to keep on top and too functional to NOT have one.

You have a really great boat; it seems to fit what you’re doing very well. I used to have a big old pontoon boat but I think your boat would be better suited for exploring and camping. The springs and the fish were fantastic. Diving and seeing all the fish was pretty neat, I got to say though that gar was kind of strange looking without his lower jaw it all looks like fun and we can tell you enjoy doing it.
