GREAT TIPS, keep up with what are you doing, you helped me a lot with my noisy wahl and i believe that i am not the only one who found that video usefull.
Well, I have just saved £££'s replacing a 20yo Super Taper in 2024. This video gave me the insight I needed to self service and make my clipper purr again, Kudos Larry.
I was looking at reviews of clippers when I came upon this. In many ways it is far more useful that a review: you can see how the thing is constructed, what goes wrong with it and what can be done about that. From this I can see that this is a proper professional tool made with metal held together by screws and is serviceable, not plastic and glue that will break irreparably. It also puts into perspective negative reviews like "the lever gets loose". That's fixable. All in all the most useful video I have seen on this subject, so thanks!
Rob Fisher Very well put. I think it's great that, in this small corner of the market, no-frills workhorse appliances are still being manufactured despite the increasingly disposable nature of goods - you can't con pros! I'm planning to buy these clippers to trim my facial hair - seems like overkill but I wouldn't spend a penny on any of these half-assed cordless stubble trimmers which frankly get tossed when you lose one part...
This video saved me! Halfway through cutting my sons hair my clippers starting making a terrible loud noise and wouldn’t cut! Tuned the clipper just like you showed in this video and they were good as new! 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you!
I noticed that you used red thread locker. This is an exceptionally strong adhesive. If the lever breaks, it will be impossible to remove the screw. blue thread locker would be more than enough for this application and would be removable in case of breakage. I always enjoy your presentations and get much from them.
I only dropped my clippers from less than a foot high. I have tried everything in this and some other videos. I should have known not to get my hopes up. Thanks for putting this information out there, though.
Larry. I took the blades off of my Wahl Clippers and later I found a spring on the floor, right below the spot where I was working. The problem is that I cannot find the area where the spring goes in the clippers. Can you please help me with this spring? I have a Wahl WC2, for household use.
If you want to measure the 2lb pressure, stick the clippers on a set of kitchen scales, zero the reading, then press down like Larry does til the scales read 2lb. Bit more precise.
The power screw on some wahl's have a tab that won't let you adjust it too much , if you find that you need to go past this point you can pry the plastic bit with the tab off completely and underneath it is a normal philips head screw ....
Hey LARRY THANKS for video.. Have so questions and if u could help and answer it would be nice.. Is there specs for each individual motor.. Like distance away to exert maximum power.. Basically is there chart, rules, specifications on how far the magnets should be away from each other? Thanks bro
Will adjusting the arm decrease the heat coming from the unit itself? My Magic Clip is running quite hot and loud after a 3ft drop during a cutting session.
Hi larry, my super taper being so loud, and the blade is not cutting. I have adjust the power screw on the right side, but the sound still loud. And i took off the blade to cleanup the blade, but the blade still not cutting/moving.
the problem on the lever. is the washer starts to warp or bent due to bad maintenance hair behind it which wont allow it to rotate with ease mainly on seniors..switch the screw and problem fixed.. black casing wahls can be due to cross threading

Hi Larry, love the videos! I have a problem with my Wahl Icons, when I adjust the power by tightening the screw that you can see when the face plate is on until it makes a noise then loosen it, the cutting blade is too far over to the right which when using a comb attachment hits that and make a noise. Would adjusting the tension arm sort this problem? Thanks for you help.
Thank you. This has helped me out a lot! I haven't quite got mine working yet, but at least now I understand what's going on... kind of. A little more tinkering and think I got it.
Larry I love your videos, and they have helped me tremendously. my name is Joseph and I am in the state of Alabama in the United states. how much are u selling your blower for (in us dollars) and do you make them to run here in America or will I have to buy a converter.
@@larrythebarberman Thanks Larry. I've sent the blades of to be sharpened, so when I get them back will check again to see if I had been over tightening them. Cheers.
Given that this is a mains clipper and that you don't have to run it during adjustment I would strongly suggest that you unplug the clipper before you open it up so you do not run the risk of an electric shock.
You have to tighten both as they hold the armature in the correct position. If you only tighten one then it could come loose and pivot on the screw making your 2lbs adjustment a waste of time. Tightening both locks it in place.
Hi Larry, thanks for the great video. Regarding what you mentioned about the blade gap, which affects the performance - I am having this issue with the Oster Fast Feed. I've noticed that when I move the lever to the blade's closing position, the metal track controlled by the lever will also tilt in an upward motion, which causes the guard blade (screwed to the metal track) to also lift - causing the gap between the guard blade and the cutting blade. As that happens, there is also rattling sound. I suspect this comes for the gap as the moving cutting blade is hitting the stationery blade. I've no idea how to solve this problem.. I love this clipper but now my fast feeds are constantly pulling and snagging hair. Your help and experience would be deeply appreciated!

if you increases the tension then you gotta lubricate the blade really well

Is the clipper supposed to make that somewhat loud click when you turn it on? Mine does that too, but not all the time.
