Okay, so key moments, in detail: Early Game 5:20 Perfect Robotics timing and starting Observatory almost immediately - it may look a small thing, but this made it possible for Light to face the first Vulture flock with 1st Observer out (7:54) 6:32 With forcing repair with 4 scvs, Light was ahead enough to setup his 3rd base and the wall as well. Having a total of 6 Pylons in the wall! Pretty crucial, as it'll become apparent at 7:21 8:41 Nice reflexes saving that 1st Observer (2nd only finished) Early Fight 9:26 The iconic tank-resetting or "gambling" fight everyone is talking about here in chat. Seriously, that awareness and micro gives me chills. Notice how he drops Zealots on tanks at 9:30 and the Dragoon control (no path messing, moving between shots) Macroing up 10:48 Fourth base dropped. This a common theme here: both zerg and protoss needs to stay ahead with base count vs terran or they lose. Plain and simple. 10:56 Upgrades: Stasis first for Arbiters. Unless you plan to all-in, always start with Stasis. Also note how Light is keeping up with Flash's attack upgrade. Although terran mech scales better with upgrades, if you fall behind as protoss, it could have game-ending impact on how your fight would go. One less attack on tanks to kill them could be the your saving grace. 11:03 Fifth base dropped. After 10 sec of dropping the fourth. Extremely important, made possible by that 9:26 fight. 11:37 Keeping track of Vulture flock so they cannot run by the building expos. 13:49 Gate timing. 14:32 Sixth base dropped. Saving the small Dragoon force and wiping out the Vulture run by is nice, too. Mid Dance 15:19 Stasis on the Vessel and a couple tanks. Another cruicial moment. Were two EMPs hit the protoss army instead of one, maybe Flash could've pushed even further. 15:45 The Protoss dance. This is something you can see alot in PvT, protoss trying to dance around the pushing terran army, trying to find the weak spot. 15:56 Nice EMP. The dance buys enough time to get out High Templars. 16:14 Stasis on the Vessel, killing the other while retreating. This is huge. Break the Push 16:47 Finally found a good angle. Killing another Vessel. High Templars join up, and as no Vessels around, they can storm. This happens again a few seconds later: as no Vessels around for EMPs/detection, Flash has to use Scan, which means the sieged up tanks are sitting there for a couple seconds, not hitting anything, allowing Light to drop a bunch of extremely important storms. 18:06 This leads up to save his natural just at the nick of time, finally breaking the terran push. Counter 18:51 The full boom of 6 base economy. Almost instantly replinishing back to 200, 23 units in production at the same time. 18:59 Another nice EMP. Imagine if the other Vessels were still alive. 19:32 Superb Zealot micro in premiere plan, reaching the tanks after some kiting, instead of A-moving. 20:08 Seventh base dropped during the chaos. Taking out the expos 20:50 The first Vulture raid on a protoss expo in the match. Aside from catching a couple transferring probes, Light's economy was never really threathened. 21:09 Attack on Flash's third. He will then hit fourth, then 3rd, then 4th again, disrupting mining and widening the economical gap. 21:17 That Stasis is what you are waiting for as protoss. Catching something on a ramp, blocking reinforcement/evacuation pathing. Same trick as Lurker egg and equally impactful. 22:11 Although not seeable, an attempted Templar drop. Also, the seven-base bank vs one minding base economy really starts to show. 23:50 That Storm drop is just beautiful. The most important in my eyes: 6:32 9:26 10:48, 11:03 16:14 16:47 21:17 So, just to summarize: although some terran players are mad for some reason, isn't "just" Gateway units. It's really like playing Zerg, staying ahead of bases, throwing units, using two essential casters, outmanouvering and all of it. Breaking the Terran Push is one of the most frustrating and hardest thing to do in the game.
It is true protoss have lot of small details to take care of, and its true terran army is stronger, therefore why it can be frustrating for protoss. But lets not forget protoss have some advantage for themselves like more bases, more cash, more production building, more army, more tech, more map control, and all that in the same time, until terran gets a good army that might be stronger if controled perfectly. So yea, frustration can be on both sides.
Excellent summary. The only small thing I would add is the coincidental benefit of having the gateway productions on two sides of the map here. Flash goes to push into the natural of Light and the zealots come from both sides right out of the gateways into the tanks. This was a good win when finishing the break on the push. This game is a great study example for an aspiring Protoss v T player
This was a very good match to watch and so much to pick apart. Light really starved Flash in this match by keeping him on his toes and having good trades, and you can see just by the resources bank near the last quarter of the match. Light was cranking out units so fast and hitting 200 supply quickly after traders, and while Flash could replenish some tanks, four bases wasn't going to do it. I was really concerned for Light during that Ring Around the Rosey in the middle of the game, and even though it was so clumsy of a maneuver, that 17:02 double storm on the bulk of the tanks really softened Flash's tanks and the streamline of reinforcing Zealots flowing from Light's base were easily able to two/three tap that massive tank count into single digits. From there I don't think the Little Monster was able to mass enough, even against not-fully upgrades Gateway units.
Greedy doesn't necessarily cut it. There was that game a couple of months back when the protoss (Bisu, maybe) took nine periferal bases while Flash was at three the whole time. One good maxed-out push by Flash saw him sitting in the center, protoss now at 7-8 bases and without any hope of dislodging Flash. Although I guess you could call that too greedy, the same strat as here just taken to the extreme. You are right about that early reset of the tank count. That bit was decisive. Does look like Larva playing off race. Also, thanks for the great cast!
MadDocPax ya, Bisu lost that one because he didn’t use hybrid “cloaked” Shuttle drops on the tank line - watch carefully, Loght drops a Zealot or two on the line THEN Couple HT’s to Storm Flash out of existence! Soooo good PvT!

The biggest significance of this game is to break the myth of invincibility of Flash ‘s Terran: 3/3 plus tank matrix; vultures surrounding; 200 supply max out push, which are the nightmares of so many Protoss user. Now , Light use this match to prove, all above are nonsense in front of overwhelming advantage in ahead economy and cranking !
He was in MBC heroes. I even didn't know. I just searched it. because many Koreans remember their real name not IDs And this guy was a terran! He changed his race just few months ago!
Light had very good army control, good storms and macro, but this is a strange game for Flash. In mid-late game TvP scenarios, when Flash moves out with 200/200 he will have a 4th base built at that point, occasionally with a 5th starting. This optimization is what allows Flash to withstand multiple Protoss macro cycles and kill Protoss later on after Protoss has controlled half of the mining bases. In this match you can see Flash still didn't have a 4th base mining at 17:00, while his main was all but mined out. Game's over after Light initiated the fight at 19:16 with superior positioning. Maybe this was before Flash optimized the 200/200 TvP death push.
Have watched thousands of bw vods esp from south Korea tournaments. I have alot of knowledge, lmk if you wanna duo commentary sometime bro, love the content keep it up! :)
A theoretical idea for arbiters. Have a few of them out and about with a few zealots and dragoons. And one with your army. Force them to make more scans than they need.
@ 16:32 Flash should have attacked the two bases at north east instead of a lengthy chase that made light benefit from time and higher income to produce waves of attack the depleted flash's army
I've always wondered...how come terran don't ever research blind for medics? Wouldn't that be a very cost effective way of dealing with stupid observers?
I'm not at expert at all, but I don't think medics are often used in PvT because of how squishy bio is, so specifically getting medics and blind just to blind an observer seems unwieldy. Furthermore, blinding an observer is (almost) strictly worse to simply killing it
Its kinda a lot of investment. It is one extra group of units you have to control, and since Terran is just going mech, honestly, if observers were an issue, a Goliath does the trick. Blind is often used in a very specific situation (I've seen which is versus mass carriers. Bunch of cloaked wraiths + medics to blind the bundle of observers). As Colly mentioned, I believe it was in a boxer game which was pretty sick. Dark Archon feedback also isn't very good against science vessels mainly because you want feedback to kill the target and science vessels typically don't have full energy. Also another thing for toss to control (and control in this game is very hard because of 12 unit cap. Hard to control 75+ units along with spells while also having to remake those units at the same time). Noting the 12 selection cap. I wonder how the pros would play if they had one of the hacks that allowed them so select more than 12 units. I can imagine something like Jaedong's Mutalisk micro would be terrifying with like 25 stack muta group.
wow - the OP T goes down... what a day. to win with a T - it is like playing with cheats, to lose with a T - like what nub shyte was he doing to lose with a T
9:35 very slobby by Flash! 3 tanks unsieged and not even micromanaged... He should've won that by unseaging them from a distance after killing the zealots.
Only way to beat Flash: play Toss like a Zerg
