I am English and first visited Llangrannog in August 1961 - the girl that I loved (who was Welsh) drove me there in her Dads´s car and we sat on the beach which was considerably less crowded than today - in fact we were the only ones on it! I will NEVER forget Llangrannog or the wonderful lady who introduced me to the place - regretably our relationship did not work out - but I still remember them both with great affection.
I spent many happy days in Llangrannog as a child in the seventies as we often had holidays in New Quay. Llangrannog and Cwmtydu were the two beaches we most often visited. Thank you for bringing back a lot of happy memories.
That WAS lovely. What a beautiful and charming place! The pizza 🍕 looked delicious. A homemade doughnut filled with ice cream would almost be worth the trip from Arkansas to Wales! Thank you so much for taking us along.
Yes, I love the stories too, not only hearing them but also knowing that they have been handed down through so many generations and still survive. The beauty of the Welsh coast never ceases to evoke inspiration in me, a truly inspirational place for artists, poets, writers and creative persons. So good for the soul, and this translates beautifully, seamlessly, through your video.
Another terrific video, of such a lovely place. Miss HubNut's historical narrative, and her knowledge of the landscape and it's people is always fascinating. Thank you, a real treat of a video.
Ah, Llangranog. We used to have family holidays there the best part of 60 years ago. Lovely little town and wonderful beaches - we used to like the one you pointed out that you can access at low tide. Misjudged the tide a few times and had to walk over the hill to get back to the car. All part of the fun. Great to see the town thriving. Must go back and visit again.
Oh Carly what a lovely video. You are such a natural presenter. We went to llangrannog about 3 years ago for our first time later in the year. Pizza place was only eatery open. Needless to say we were not disappointed, amazing meal. Didn't go back last year as heard of parking problems but hopefully again soon. You mentioned Aberporth, my favourite place. Look forward to you doing a review on that (and maybe Crymych, where we stayed). All good wishes to you, Ian and the Hub family xx
Excellent video Miss Hubnut - full of interesting info delivered with clarity and passion! Interesting that moves to preserve the Welsh language were happening so long ago - in the 70's my family holidayed in Wales, staying regularly at a farm in Llandeilo Graban (near Erwood, less neer to Builth Wells) - the farmer didn't speak any Welsh (despite having been born on the farm), yet his sons (now in there mid-fifties to late 40s) were learning Welsh at school. Amazing how close the world came to Welsh dieing out! My wife learned some Welsh when studying in Aberystwyth (and tried to teach me - the only thing I can remember is Tan Sam (Fireman Sam) as we watched some episodes on S4C in the early 90s!). She loved the alphabet so much she wanted to call our daughter Guinevere, but with the Welsh spelling Gwynhfyr - it looks so much prettier when written down! May I be so bold as to hazard a guess that Carly is not spelt in English?
My hubby and I found it too many years ago seeking an army surplus business..... I must tell you we don't share it with others we never want it to change. Thank you so much.
I've gotta say Miss Hubnut I absolutely love your video's. So much info, perfectly delivered, much better and more interesting than most TV presenters. You an Iann live such an interesting, busy life. Thank you for all the effort you both out into these video's.
We used to toddle over to Llangrannog on Boxing Day for a christmas pudding ice-cream on the beach. That was over 15 years ago tho, so it's probably different these days.
I have wonderful memories of the place from my visits in the late 60s. My parent took me on holidays to New Quay and Aberporth and we visited Llangrannog on more than one occasion….great surfing.
Well done Miss HN, I too think Llangrannog is the No1 place to visit. I first went there in 1989 and returned so many times either camping or staying in the cottage that was owned by The Ship Inn, simply fell in love. We would go every January to enjoy a New Year break, I loved this village as much in the Winter as I did in the Summer I am ashamed to say that we did not know the story of Cranogwen, and that we haven't be back for 25 years !. Maybe Jan 24 we will meet up with a very old friend.
Fun to see Llangrannog again; I've not been there for years. Natually my primary school offered trips to the Urdd (I didn't go), and their Mr. Urdd mascot character was everywhere. Hope the good weather holds out for my visit home from London back to SW Wales later this month! Looking forward to hitting the coast path again.
I'm with Ian on the caramel love, is he old enough to remember Golden Cup? The epitome of gorgeousness in this field, the closest today being Galaxy caramel. Costa 'millionaire's' aren't half bad either. Thanks for the vid 👍
One of our favourite places too - and Aberporth just down the coast. Not had pizza there, so will definitely be checking out their opening hours this winter. Learnt a lot. Thank you
I went to Yr urdd back in the later end of the 70's. Loved the whole experience, even swimming in the pool that had no heating next to the stable block. Oh and going for a bike ride, we got half way down the little lane from the camp down to the village when a hail storm began. Our instructor told us to go back cos the hail was the size of hazelnuts and the girls starting crying with the pain of being hit with them. So many more very fond memories of a 5 day stay at the camp. I've been back several times since the last being 30 years ago. Will go back sometime, if I can organise time to do the area justice.
This is fantastic.....thanks for filming this video. I've only ever been there once, on a 2 week holiday staying on the farm up at Lochtyn in 1977, which was very memorable and I've been wanting to return sometime but have never got around to it due to living far away 😃 Thanks for this inspirational video. I do enjoy watching the online live webcam from the Pentre Arms just to give me a bit of a Llangrannog fix from time to time.
Great video Carly. You are obviously getting more comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Although Llangrannog is still not very well known, there are many families from the West Midlands who have holidayed there for several generations. There's an opportunity for you to do another video about the Lochtyn hillfort and peninsula above the village.
Oh my gosh, I was already having a big lesbian moment about that statue lady’s fashion (the jacket! The glasses! The brooches!) but then you mentioned she lived with a partner called Jane until she died and that just made me sooo happy to hear. She got such a good ending!
My grandad used to take us there when holidaying in New Quay. As kids we called it fraggle rock (showing my age now). Thank you for sharing a bit of the history, very interesting.
Loving the colour co-ordination with the skirt and the hair. How very Miss Hubnut. Lol. As always, an interesting, educational and entertaining watch. Especially as I know pretty much nothing about that area of the country. Looking forward to seeing more Miss Hubnut videos when time allows. Xxx
@misshubnut no, thank you, moddom. I always enjoy learning something new. I like the style of the videos too. Like we've just dropped in to say hello and you're showing us around. Perfect. Don't change a thing. No pressure with more videos, BTW. They're worth waiting for xxx
My wife and I made it a point to go to places you recommended, we've just separated but I promise to continue going on my home, keep up the great work x
Thank you for a jolly interesting tour. This is somewhere we've overlooked hitherto. But maybe we'll have a day out if the weather improves. I remember our son coming to the Urdd place many years ago when he was in primary school.
10 out of 10 for the commentary and explanation. 8 out of 10 for the camerawork. Perhaps a little too much swinging around and rapid zooming, but overall excellent. 😊
Thanks for another enjoyable video, we visited here in early May and its a lovely place, great food in Pentre, Caffi Patio and the pizza restaurant was fantastic. Its better to park at the top and walk down if you can, bus was not running when we were there. Its ok if able bodied and there are a few routes, just keep going down. A warning about the car park at the bottom, one evening we parked and the pay machine was out of action so could not use coins, there is no internet signal with some carriers and also no phone signal in the village. The wifi provided for the machine was so slow we were not able to use it so had to go into the pub to use theirs and by that time the ten minutes allowed to pay had expired and when we returned home had a bill for £100 as they use ANPR on entry. There are lots of complaints about this on line so if you are unable to pay on arrival leave the car park, I understand some local people are just as unhappy about this as visitors. Please keep making these videos when you can and have the time, we always look forward to the next one.
Well this was brilliant you are like a very well informed teacher, I've not been to Llangrannog for donkeys years but now i think we'll pay a visit in a week or two.
Stayed at the Urdd camp in the very late sixties I think , first proper kiss of my life there with a beautiful girl from Llanelli. North met south just for a short time.
I have a place like that, it's Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, at the border with glacier park in Montana, there's a waterfall right in the village, and rainbow colored streams everywhere. If you told me to get lost, that's where I'd go. The view of Mount Blakiston is surreal. Cheers!
We were there only last week. we stay at a lovely cottage at Morfa, the nest cove south. the only thing your video lacked was 90,inutes of the larger leisure vehicles trying to get up round the hair pin bend of the road in.....
Hi Carly sorry late commenting on this as we have been away in Cornwall with no signal It looks a wonderful place and can see why you all love it there it has such a fascinating history must visit your part of wales one day best wishes to you Ian and the family Daniel
Our favourite spot too but we have a large scooter so parking is less problematic. The bus driver is a volunteer so even more thanks to him. If it is busy when next we pop down I will hold you fully responsible.
Never knew this place existed despite living near Aberystwyth for 3 years. Some years ago in mid Wales I drove up through a forest and came to a totally unspoilt small town - haven't been able to find it since.
Wow I have family not far from you guys so have been visiting wales from about 3 weeks old (now in my mid 30's) and I don't think I have ever been here! Thank you for all the info and history I've popped some pins on google maps for when im next in that part of the world. 🙂
Very impressed with all your pronunciation. Have a look for the history of a very famous Welsh poet by the name of Dic Jones. A self taught farmer who lived a stone's throw from Cwmtydi.
Stayed at Cwm tdu last year in my Caravan and visited Llangrannog quite a few times. Absolutely stunning. Would advise using the free car park at the top of the village as Miss Hub Nut suggests and get the Shuttle Bus down into the village.😂
Thank you for your very informative video .I had never heard of Sarah Jane Rees (Cranogwen). Women definitely had it harder in those days, so that makes her life even more remarkable. I have never understood why women are often valued less than me or deemed less intelligent and women like Cranogwen go to show that there is absolutely no reason for men not to see them as equals.
The family and I keep saying we'll go there, but still haven't managed to go there yet. We'll be back soon enough though, probably in the winter knowing us lol. Thanks for the informative video as always Mrs Hubnut :D
Did Cranogwen ever sleep? That's a full life for sure. Makes me feel like a right slacker! These videos have made me realise I've only ever seen a few bits of Wales and I've been there loads over the years, I've worked there, I've been on holiday there, my mate went to Bangor universty so I spent a lot of time there although memories of that time are sketchy... I could have holidays in Wales every year for the rest of my life and never visit the same place twice.
Just found this video some 9 months late. Great production. Llangrannog is great… in Winter when the tourists go home. The very narrow road down to the Pentre is a nightmare at peak traffic times as it has few passing places. The other issue is that it is mostly holiday homes, or at least used to be. Fairly sure that at one time this was a smugglers cove. Wasn’t Twm Sion Cati here or a very near cove?
Greetings from Penrhiwllan, looking forward to your next video. We are new to the area and your videos have been so helpful. Did I just see your lovely car drive past my house!
Been going to Llangrannog since the late 70's, an amazing place to holiday, and still not what i would call touristy, please don't tell anyone else about it ;-)

Where on main stream media would you see such a professional informative and entertaining video !
Thank you, that's a lovely comment
What a lovely Wednesday treat. Thank you. 🙂
Ah yes Llangrannog, finished a walk there in the Pentre for a few hours waiting for a taxi back to Aberteifi! Lovely little place.
That WAS lovely. What a beautiful and charming place!
The pizza 🍕 looked delicious.
A homemade doughnut filled with ice cream would almost be worth the trip from Arkansas to Wales!
Thank you so much for taking us along.
Oh. such a well crafted video. showing off Wales at it's best, the little secret hideaways waiting to be discovered all around this magical land.
Very interesting vid, Miss HubNut! 👍🏻
Thank you
Thanks. We made a visit here yesterday on the back of your video. Kids enjoyed the ‘secret’ beach and pizza!
Brilliant! Utterly love this!
My favourite place too I went there every summer holiday from 1973 to 1983. I always visit when I'm in the area.
What an absolute tucked away treasure! Lovely stuff. Thank you Miss Hubnut! 😊👍👍

As an Australian who has never been to the UK, you've made me want to visit Wales. Thank you for these awesome lessons, Miss Hubnut.
Another wonderful video of a fantastic Welsh coastal town. Thank you Miss Hubnut and please keep them coming!

Llangranog is a beautiful place and the rail carriage on the hill is beautiful little dwelling
Reminds me how relaxing the sea can be no wonder so many authors are inspired by it.

Opening shot in the Dead Centre of Llangrannog (to use one of my late Welsh grandfather's favourite dad jokes).
Brilliant 🙂
