Don't know what I did wrong but can't get this to work. I think this is the exact project to suit my needs. I was able to get the LED to light a few times but now nothing. Never got the beeper to beep. Nothing! I couldn't get the exact component values (especially the pot), but I think what I did get should work. I got a project box for 8 AA batteries. 8 x 1.5V .... Carry the 2.... Equals 12V. Like I said nothing works now. Wondering if I burned out the IC? I just bought the components Friday and barley had time to touch it
Mind me asking but is the pot even necessary for this application? You only need an adc for signal to the transmitter, and considering the light will create varying current based on reflected light to the transceiver.
The pot is for calibrating the sensitivity. I suppose you could eliminate it if you first tuned it with the pot, measured the pot's resistance, then replaced that with a fixed resistor.
Can I connect this device to thermal checker and run it automatically without human operation ?

It didn’t work when I followed the steps. It was just making sounds whereas it was supposed to work with the IR Rx Receiver.

You have to connect an SCR with the buzzer. The SCR is used as a latch.

This is not a motion detector. Motion detectors use PIR sensors which detect motion or movement. This circuit can only detect absence or presence of I R light.

now for me to sound like the pro...different IC means that it has different configuration of logic gates and for example LM means linear monolithic and the number indicates the pins on the IC in this case they both support 8 pin DIP to allow the same function if not for a specific component such as electronic items eg again a TV circuit is specific while an AMP isnt fyi pin connections vary. cheers folks.

*It's not detecting motion*
Just the IR rays from other light sources. When he places something in front of it, it blocks some of the IR rays. hence, the buzzer.
Believe me, it won't work in a Dark room. 😁

@@spacial2 Dude he moved a screwdriver in front of it & still triggered the IR receiver. The screwdriver isn't emitting any of IR rays in the first place.
& also installing an IR emitting LED won't make it a "motion detector"

Remember, IR, for humans, is heat.
The circuit detects moving IR radiation, so it is a movement detector. All movement detectors, whichever radiation they detect, will respond to moving sources in the same way as sudden static sources.
The circuit is a sensitive switch. It just happens to have an IR detector, but it could have almost any detector.
On it's own, like all ABTabi 's stuff, it is just a component. It is up to to to use the circuit, together with others, to design your own.
@@spacial2 I'm not discouraging his project, it's really good & well thought out but calling it a "motion detector" is too much.
This is too fragile & depends largely on external light sources. A slight change in light intensity could change its functioning & response.
The motion sensor is intended to use upto a range of 2-3 meters, whereas you have showed it from only 2-3 inches, not far more than that. Then how's this circuit is advisable in practical.
For me the 2-3 inch range is EXACTLY what I need. Making a sensor to tell my wife EXACTLY where to stop when parking the truck in our garage. It barely fits. Just wish I could know if i could just a project box with a 9volt batter as power instead of 12volts, but he doesn't seem to reply to anyone's questions.

This phenomenon (LED emission, beeps) occurs when the light receiving element blocks light such as a fluorescent lamp having a wavelength in the near infrared region among the external light sources.
This circuit will essentially not detect the movement of the object because there is no self-luminous to tune the internal circuit.
