And, some of the protesters have been caught in camera notifications where they are from. Not all of them are from UCLA. I used to work security at a uni. They gave us batons, one day of training, and said "you can use it, but when the person you hit sues you, you're on your own." Guess what kids, you're on your own! UCLA declared the encampment unlawful, and advised it needed to be dismantled Tuesday. I have seen a few interviews of professors and students and they talk about a need for debate, hard conversations and diverse opinions, I don’t see any of that going on. I just see confrontation and yelling. Is this what higher learning has become scream at those who do not agree with you until they do. I think the campus should dismember the encampment and suspend everyone that was there on Tuesday. When you break rules or don’t follow the law, it is no longer protesting.

It's interesting to see which of the events of the old 60s/early 70's student protests correspond with the events of the new student protests. I think the violent attack here by counter-protesters matches up best with the earlier civil rights protests when there were violent attacks by KKK-supporting counter-protesters while the cops looked the other way if not actually joining in.
Fireworks? Interesting! What caused the gunfire at Kent State protest was some protester setting off fireworks - sounded like gunfire hence national guard reacted - these ptotesters and bystanders are not cognisent of the extremely high risk and danger they place themselves in - i live 7 miles from Kent State and heard about so much more then was ever reported but should be acknowleged as what responsibility anyone who puts themself in the zone has to expect all and any outcomes, usually bad!
