    • @zybch
      @zybch 3 роки тому +14

      @@DRE2XL I have the system, and the controller is absolutely the best Sony has made. But perhaps because it's such a large leap from the dreadful dual shock 3 and 4, it's getting way too much credit for its haptics. The rumble on the Xbox controller gives almost the same level of feedback with its trigger motors which have been part of it since 2013, but because of MS's stupid mistakes at the start of that gen, they got overshadowed by the problems.
      Games that make proper use of it, like the Forza series, are amazing. You actually feel like your car is being gripped and pulled when you drive through mud for instance. But because most development teams used only the most basic of haptics, it's a feature that just got ignored, often deliberately so, by users and especially the Sony loving press.
      I hope the same doesn't happen with the new Sony one, but developers being what they are for the most part it's likely going to be used as much as that stupid touch pad or speaker was last time lol
      The resistive triggers are absolutely going to break. I was excited when I thought they'd be using inductive resistance (similar to the Switch HD Rumble) but this purely mechanical system just isn't gong to last, and the pressure sensor of the L/R2 triggers is disappointing as well. I'd hoped they would have switched to hall sensors by now, but it's the same 'buckling dome' system since the ps2 (I think).
      But, the controller feels great in the hand, battery life is way better if you turn off resistive anyway, and I'm more than happy with it. Just not the longevity problem I suspect it's gong to have.

I never felt like I’ve been a “huge” gamer but these new controllers make the game feel like so much more than a game (I know that sounds weird) I feel like I’m more in control with these new controllers. It’s an experience I think many have to experience for themselves to fully understand. It makes me want to experience more games on the PS5. If making an amazing gaming experience from a controller to push those playing the games to purchase more games to further the experience, it’s working because I’ve spent way too much lol.

      @inSertCoiNow 3 роки тому +18

      It is not controlling the vibration. It is pushing back on your finger, resisting it. The case where you see it like vibrating is actually a situation when you push the trigger by applying the same force and the trigger pushes back and releases, pushes back and releases really fast.
      Adaptive triggers are not for vibration. They control the resistance of the trigger. When the trigger is easy to push, when the trigger gets harder to push (and how much) and when it gets stronger than the force of your finger so it pushes it back.

    • @phxf
      @phxf 3 роки тому +8

      It shouldn't matter if they do, unlike something like the joysticks, if this mechanism gets sloppy and loose, the motor will take up the slack and you're unlikely to notice. It's all about applying pressure, that is, driving the gear to a specific point, and then maintaining it at that same position with a maximum amount of power to the motor to control how much resistance it provides. The motor will just quickly drive until everything's in the set position, the only bit where looseness would matter is in that interface between the big cog and the potentiometer, but that's not an area exposed to stress or wear. I think the areas of wear risk on these controllers remains the joysticks. If the adaptive triggers are going to fail it would probably be a catestrophic failure like motor burning out overheating. I have high hopes for it's longevity.

    I feel very fortunate to own a PS5 (not here to gloat) and I must say the adaptive trigger in this new controller is quite... addictively extraordinary. It kinda feels like you are pressing on a 20% hard crunchy 10% wet sponge that also adjusts its strength depending on the game's situation. While it may seem like it can be simply ignored, it's quite something. I can't wait for more PS5 games to come out to utilize this feature (especially them driving games) and also hope everyone who plans to get a console to be able to get sometime relatively soon. Oh and yes, other new stuff Sony put into the controller is quite remarkable as well, but this is an adaptive trigger video :P Thx for the vid! Now I know what I'm pressing down against on the inside XD

I sure hope this is not the case for the Dualsense controller tho.

    Cheers

    • @RestoreTechnique
      @RestoreTechnique  3 роки тому +2

      You can get the helicoidal gear off the motor, buy cutting into it and destroying it in the process.
      But if you needed to replace the motor, I doubt you'd be able to retain the original gear.
      I think the gear will wear over time, and you'll start seeing problems in a couple years, depending on use.
