you're my Bob Ross. Just LOOK at those happy little trees.
Thank you🥹
I find your version just perfect.👌🏻 It's YOUR take on a drawing from a photograph that inspired you and made you want to express you art from it. I definately feel the winter snowy vibe (very much familiar with this vibe here too in Québec 😆). So don't be so hard on yourself and keep doing what you love ! 💜❄️ Thanks for sharing again !
Thank you so much ❤️🥹 we're neighbors! I live in ontario haha
my art never looks like the reference. it used to upset me but now i actively try to make it different from the reference because art is supposed to be creative so why not lol
edit: i also try to use multiple references now so i can take what i like from each
i love a good crack photoshop job when i'm making my references. sometimes i refresh my pinterest feed or comb through old pins and challenge myself to combine 3 or more to make an original piece. it's a ton of fun!
That's a great idea! And yeah I agree it doesn't have to look like the reference, I love a good interpretation 😁
@alth0lbr0se That's such a cool idea I have to try that!
Agreed
i actually like my art better when i post it on instagram lol the colours always look better in rgb than in my real life. hahahahaha
Ooh i'm only at the start of the video but I know all too well how frustrating and demotivating it is to use a reference and realize you cannot recreate it fully, or even mostly, for some reason which you don't even understand😭 I naturally tend to swing to realistic style, and drawing realistically obviously requires lots of effort and focus and discipline -- but too much of anything gets tiring and stressful. It's good to pursue realism as long as you like doing it, but it's also good to appreciate your own "unrealistic" pieces, even if it was unintented, if only for the effort you put in and the lessons you've learned along the way!
Me coming to terms with and appreciating my own "impressionistic" style has helped me relieve stress and gain confidence as an artist, even as I'm still learning realism! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but personally I find impressionism as a great stress relief and I'd recommend it to anyone willing to try out something new👀
As for these winter drawings, I personally love them!! I love the style, love the color choices and the way you work with them, love the rough texture of color pencils on paper as well ahaha~~ I'm not good with words to describe what exactly I find so neat here, but I agree with the general positive reception!! I'm happy to know you've grown to like what you made with other people's support:) The reference inspired you to make something uniquely yours and that should be celebrated!
Also, thank you for making these longer, not too much "edited", perhaps not youtube-friendly videos of you drawing. The algorithm much rather prefers short 10-15 minute videos of drawings that actually take much, much longer to be made. It's perfect for consumption on a social media that offers millions and millions of videos -- so why should I watch 30-minute non-sped up drawing videos when there's so much else to watch here, right? But I really appreciate the slow and quiet process being shown. I didn't even realize how my own perception of art and the process of creation has been warped by the idea that.....it should take 10 fun minutes to do, just like the videos I watch right??? I used to feel like a shit artist for the fact that I'm a slow gal, I often make long pauses in a single drawing, I can't always finish a piece I started (especially if it's bigger and more complex), and such. Not everyone is as slow as me, but it's certainly a fact that most art videos online aren't meant to be a representation of the full art process and its challenges, but just some good fun and a source of inspiration perhaps:) the algorithm might not encourage you to make the kind of videos you're making right now, but if you enjoy it, I'll encourage you to keep going!!
Thank you so so much! I totally agree, it quite difficult to hold focus (like literally physically with your eyes lol) for a long period of time, and that's what realistic drawing requires. I do tend to always go with my own style and use references loosely, so that works for me most of the time, but for this one I was trying to learn this type of tree and study so that's what was so tricky I think! I'm really happy you like the longer realtime kind of vids, and you're absolutely right about the algorithm and the editing efforts haha. I like to do a mix of both because I like both styles, but I do think it's really important to show the whole process sometimes for anyone that wants to know it! ❤️
Yes! These longer videos is what encouraged me to sub and stay along with the beautiful artwork. It's lovely to actually see things as they come and hear the artists take on them.
Impression is wonderful! I could never do it, but always love it.
I love the purple color as a way of depicting snowy trees though. It's a nice step away from the typical blue that is always used for that kind of scene. Love it!
One thing about me is I'll always go out of my way to not use blue haha it's just not my favorite colour😁 thank you!!
i just love this lol YES you are my Bob Ross too! I'm sketching along with you and just found out my purple pencil core is BROKEN GRRRRR!
I think you nailed it! Don’t be too hard on yourself!
Thank you for sharing videos like this where you’re trying to learn something new and your thought process on trying to figure it out! Seeing you be frustrated but persevere inspires me to try new things! And from an outside perspective you ARE making progress and capturing the essence of the pictures. I feel like I’m learning this process too just by watching you!! ^_^
Thank you so so much I really appreciate that😊🥰
I LOVE that this is purple so it doesn't have that cold feel even though it's snow 🥰
Ya I thought the reference was really nice and I think the purple is what pulled me in😁
These are so cool, beautiful work 🎉
Currently having a panic attack and the only thing my brain can think to distract me is watching your videos, thank you for keeping me anchored to this reality
I’m so happy to know that❤️ as a person who also gets panic attacks, I do the same thing! (not with my own videos though, that would be weird😂) put something cold on your chest for a little while, I find that helps a lot
this reminds me of my grandma’s paintings! We don’t get to see her very often, but she paints beautiful landscapes on ornaments and we hung some of them up yesterday. You’re doing better than you think :) be gentle to yourself! P.s. your sense of humor makes me laugh out loud! Always love these videos
Awww I love that!! Thank you so much ❤️
I feel the need to tell you that I think you would really like the derwent inktense pencils. They are watercolor pencils with really intense saturation. Also love how this came out!
Ouu cool! Thanks for letting me know! 😁 thank you!
Thank you for this. I often think I should give up drawing because I just can't seem to understand how to trust the process. Listening to someone as good at art as you are speak about its difficulties is reassuring that I don't have these difficulties because I can't draw well, I have them because I'm an artist (and I can't draw well).
Omg thank you! I'm so happy you could feel reassured 🥹
@@emrouleauart ❤
ive never heard the phrase "touch grass " in such a positive way before. i feel like i dont know how to process that. lol. both are lovely. :)
Hahaha thank you!!
No matter how much cussing, you are challenging yourself. That's always painful but guaranteed to level up your abilities. ❤
It's so true ❤️
Thank you for this video and breaking out not only how you do it but also your thought process!
This kind of reference looked absolutely impossible to me, all monochromatic and whites that are not quite white.
Now I kind of have an idea of where to start and how to approach it 😲 so thanks Bob 😆 and enjoy the snow!
😮 you're welcome!! I'm so happy it helped the way you're thinking about that!
I love your happy laugh while describe your art process ❤
Thank you❤️
This came out amazing💜
I love that top pic! I'm going to try your tutorials in my winter journal in a few months. Thanks for sharing!💗❄️
Wonderful! Thanks for watching!
It snowed both days that I watched these snowy scenes. I think you uploaded them decides my local weather.
Hahahah whoa that's crazy also yay snow!
Omg....your awesome!! Btw...the sketches look amazing 😊
Aw thank you so much😊
All of it is AMAZING
Thank you😊
@emrouleauart my carpal.tunnel makes it so I can't do pencil crayons
You have massive talent!
I love both.
Thank you😊
Woww amazing....I like your art >
Wow great....I like painting 💜😈👿👾💜😈👿👾
Love. P.s….” I really like that” is usually what I say before completely ruining something… so… extra 👏 for not lol
Hahahahaha thank you!😂
😍😍😍
HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃!!!
I'm canadian but happy Thanksgiving you!!!❤️❤️🍂🦃
everyone is bob ross in their heart and everyone keeps his name alive talking in videos. im apparently in a sappy mood lol 🤪
I love that😁❤️
Does it confuse or surprise you when others love what you throw your hands up with?
sometimes haha like when I did my sketchbook tour video I showed drawings I didn't like or post at all, and some people said they really liked them. But if I posted it I at least didn't think it was totally bad in the end😁
I almost thought I was watching Bob Ross, honestly
Hahahah basically the same
Can you name the colors you used?
I cannot get my white gellyroll to work for me. The pen won't dispense color it won't layer on anything, it's so frustrating 😭 anyone have any tips for me?
I dunno if this helps but I usually draw a little line on the back of my hand before I use it (until I see the white ), and that seems to get it going lol
