wonderfully musical playing, especially your dynamics rising and falling and super consistent tempo. Came for the NV5S, ended up enjoying the performance..

That's a very kind compliment, thank you. Especially coming from someone as talented as yourself. I've just been listening to a couple of your recordings and really, really enjoying them. My son James would love to learn some jazz pieces in the style you play, but at the moment he is having to focus on his Grade 6 exam which will be later in the year. His tempo is at times a little inconsistent and that's something he is working on quite a bit - it's getting better. He was playing for his grandad on the grand piano at Tyntesfield earlier today and making us all proud :)

I felt exactly the same! I came to hear the NV5s sound and I often get back to his recordings, especially his Grieg Notturno performance. I'm no expert pianist but an intense music listener (4 hours+ daily listening over 25 years) so I heard a lot in EVERY possible styles, from classical to reggae to electronic to norwegian black metal to hip-hop etc. I have a feeling that this children is not at good-level potential but at great-level+ potential :) My 2 cents (but you should listen to the pro pianist above me ;)

Very very good, I'm learning that myself and found yours as I was looking for a tutorial. Hopefully soon I'll be playing it as smoothly as you :)

As smoothly as my son! I'd struggle 😉
Good luck - it's a beautiful piece and last i checked, Erland Cooper had the sheet music on his web site as a free download.

@@DeckardWill Your son plays beautifully! As for me, I can't read music, learning by ear and tutorials😬, but thanks for the direction

Oh wow. Is this a new piano? Last time I saw your videos you were on a yamaha keyboard. How does it compare?
    Beautiful playing.

Thank you for the kind words 🙂
Yes, we sold the P515 and have had the NV5S since the end of January. It's very very different - the real upright action is heavy and for James has been a challenge to fully get to grips with, but he is getting there!

@@DeckardWill that's great. I'm currently using the Roland FP90 but the sound isn't very good. I love the action though. I'm currently using the Native instruments-Niore virtual instrument or the Ivory 2 - Steinway Concert D. I'm much more satisfied since I've started using those. I'll probably make some more recordings soon. Have a Nice day.

@@BUJU2007 The piece I listened to earlier of yours sounded really lovely. Yes we did read about the Rolands, and that they still have some way to go to get their samples up to scratch with Kawai and Yamaha. It's good though that you have the VST samples as an option and that those are working better for you.
To be honest no digital instrument that we've tried is quite there, yet, in terms of replicating the piano sound. But the NV5S does get closer.

@@DeckardWill I highly recommend if you haven't already, that you change the tone to Sk-ex rich, go into virtual technician and mess around with the parameters to dial in the best sound to your ears. Editing the touch and individual key volume to a custom preset (swipe all the way to the right) has allowed me greater control over the dynamics of my ca99. This also helps if your son is finding the action to be heavy. Playing around with speaker settings in top right drop down is also a great way of getting the best sound for the environment of the piano. Again don't use installed presets such as bass boost, brightness, etc. Swipe to the far right to dial in a customer preset of bass treble etc. It really does make a huge difference to the overall presence of the instrument! Have fun:)

@@misstangshan95 Thanks for the advice. At some point I'll sit down with my son and we'll have a go at that. He is only 10 though so not fully confident that his feedback will be consistent enough to dial it in. It may be one for us to try when he's had the instrument a bit longer and is a year or so older.
