Them playing it just made it better. I can't see this game without thinking of a little girl with a british accent that is deep frying a piece of butter while her parents are away
Personally, I think the whole point to leaving the ending open to interpretation is because relationships don't get fixed in a matter of minutes or hours. They can come to a common understanding, as they did by the end of this game, but it takes much more time and effort to work through all of the problems in their relationship and get to a place where they feel like they don't have a "broken" relationship. The biggest things they learned are to communicate with each other and to follow their passions, and those are the foundation required to both have the ability to fix their relationship and to have the inner motivation to be happy and actually fix their relationship. So, all in all, I really appreciate the fact that they didn't just end it with "ok we're still getting a divorce" or "we're happy and everything is fixed now!!!", because neither of those would fit the state in which they ended the game. Their relationship isn't fixed, because it takes more than that, but they want to start trying again. And that is the best end to a new beginning I could think of.
As a divorce baby, this makes me wanna cry seeing two parents coming together for their daughter. You don’t see that a lot and it’s beautiful the game left the ending open to interpretation
I know your pain. My parents split up 12 years ago, and now they hate each others guts and avoid being in the same room together. They try to be civil when they do see each other, but it's so awkward. My mum is married to a complete pig now, and I don't even remember when I last saw my dad but it was probably like 6 months ago. I think this game did a great job of showing that parents can still be friends after divorce, or they can at least come together and be civil for the sake of their children.
Same, they come together for her despite not actually expressing verbally if they'll stay together or not, in the end. I think that's more special honestly, parents pretending to be happy together for years is incredibly toxic, from experience.
I think I’m fortunate. My parents divorced when I was still in elementary school. They may have hated each other’s guts, but over the years, they mended their relationship. They are able to be friends now. Or at least stay in the same room together and have conversation.
I’m a divorce baby too, but I’m so happy my parents didn’t stay together, they would have been miserable no matter how much they tried to make it work. I think that for some couples seeing the others side is all you need, but sometimes it just doesn’t work, and that’s ok
One thing I've loved throughout this whole series is, since Jack and Gab are dating, there were times when Cody and May were fighting or making passive aggressive comments at each other while Jack and Gab were being cute and coupley.
45:26 Nothing being said here is wrong, at all. But living every day with someone who isn't encouraging or supportive demolishes motivation and drive. When the person you love the most couldn't care less about what you are interested it, and doesn't make any effort in your favor, it is an absolute passion killer, and countless relationships suffer this way all the time.
I agree. I didn't get that May was just passively non engaged, but it seemed like she didn't like he was doing it or thought it was silly and voiced that a lot? Which is way more damaging to someone's personal drive and own self worth. Like she didn't humor Cody, at all. Ultimately, it is his fault because the project was his to take care of. But I'm sure someone telling you "ugh you're working on that AGAIN?" every time you try to share that with them would be.. so damaging, in your own confidence in your hobbies. Like if my boyfriend for some reason expressed disinterest in every single conversation about my illustrations.. I would be totally crushed that he didn't care enough about me to listen at all. Active discouragement, belittling or always dodging the topic is way different than just not talking about it if the other person never brings it up.
I get both sides. You make a good case. Although, May did say that they moved to that house so that Cody could garden so she was at least somewhat supportive. I think all in all they both fell short in some places.
I experienced this with my own dad, and it took him so long to realize what I wanted. He's a realist and unfortunately, I inherited enough of that to have a level head, but the biggest takeaway is that we both got to a point where he actively said that he really hoped the best for me in wanting to do art and freelance commissions someday. It took a while but he started seeing that I wasnt giving up on anything and how much I loved it. And it meant the world when he did. It's so refreshing to see a game actually focus on the issues between two people in a relationship and it's something everyone can take away with any relationship whether romantic platonic or family.

I got to say it was really wholesome when May started being enthusiastic and taking interest in Cody's Garden. Before she was kinda dismissive of his stuff. It was really sweet and she seemed so much happier being supportive rather than dismissive.
I love the open ending because it leaves it to your interpretation of divorce or relationship. Cuz not all mariage can be solved but you can still be friends and that's what Rose and the game focused on more than love so it's up to the player 👌😘

I honestly think because they didn't fully talk it out and still have things to fix, they'll still get a divorce. But it's a good ending because they make sure to remind Rose that it isn't her fault their getting a divorce. Both Cody and May learned: Communication Appreciation And finding their passion within themselves. With this they can break off from each other in a healthier way, and even co-parent. They stay friends with each other while pursuing what they love, and even more so loving Rose.
I want to think that they go to a real therapist to work through their individual issues and evaluate their relationship. I agree that the magical adventure wasn't enough to solve their problems. I wonder if part of the story isn't how the couple playing the game perceive their own experience. A couple that struggles to communicate and fights a lot during the game might be more inclined to call for the characters to divorce?
I really love how the message isn't "divorce bad" but is instead "non-communication and over-hostility bad," good stuff. Some people just aren't made for each other and that's okay.
@@shainberry8159 Yeah I thought that as well, we never saw what was on the letter though... but I really can't stand the idea that all those feelings (memories), compliments, and that kiss would lead to nothing..

They'd lost respect for each other. He was "couch potato" and gave up on stuff like gardening and she was "workaholic" always at work instead of spending time with her family, the reasons didn't matter, it's how it looked to them. Love is great in a relationship but without the couple respecting each other even love isn't enough (and with respect communication tends to be easier, it's much easier to talk to and listen to someone you respect especially if you love them too). And after their little adventure I'd say the respect is back and if they keep it they'd do fine if they were real people.

Think about how she found the book in the trash, representing how the last couple processed through a break up. Where these two realized how much value they held in their relationship. So they put the book on the shelf. Love.
Kids don't care about marriage and divorce. They care about the stress and tension. They think the negativity is their fault. Everyone wants to pin the problem on the act of dissolving a bad marriage, but that's the solution, not the problem. Ending something unhealthy creates something new that is healthier. The kid will directly benefit from this. If by "don't do that to your kids" you mean "divorce", then bs. But if you mean "prolong a toxic relationship" then I agree, cut that shit short and make something better.
Collaborey-SEAN was just the cherry on the cake throughout this whole experience lol. I loved this gameplay Gab, you always deliver the best memories for us, and having you and jack boy play this made my days 💙 The message is quite vague in the end for me, but I love how, despite the Book being kind of annoying with them, but very cute and loco, his message is important; "collaboration" and "passion", not implying that they stay together, but growing from within lets say, to be there for their daughter WHILE choosing what's best for them as individuals. Divorce/separation doesn't always have to be the vi0lent choice it seems, tearing a family. But building a new journey for the whole team ❤
May's level is probably my favorite in the game. I looooove the musical electronics and stuff and how the level incorporated all of them. And May's weaponized singing was so epic, and was so in sync with the soundtrack, which is my favorite bg music in the game. It had some Hades vibes for the mic part. And the lights music was sick af.
This game honestly did so many things perfectly, and with all the heart it has and an ending that is somewhat optimistic yet realistic, I put this up there with one of the best releases of the year.
Same. I've had one marriage and one divorce, and the entire relationship narrative has generally been really stressful and complicated, but the divorce turned into one of the most important and positive events in the whole thing. I got my best friend back, and I wouldn't trade that for the world.
I have so much love for this game. The fact that you can take a bit of time for your friend/so/family member or even reach out to people. Both people don't have to buy the game, and there's just so many little cute details. It's not like other games where you promised your friend you'd play it together but then you still proceeded to play it alone. I believe this game will actually save marriages lol.
They over here riding the jumping spiders and being mean to them like they aren’t the most harmless and honestly considered the cutest spiders out there. BE NICER TO THEM. 😭
I don't tolerate any slander towards the spiders!! They're cute whether you see it or not :(( I mean I understand being freaked out about it the first time, but the whole time :(( made me a little sad
I couldn’t watch the section since I have had arachnophobia. I wish I could see the cuteness in them, but unfortunately I just couldn’t handle it. Hopefully one day I’ll calm down a bit more with spiders.
I love all the different sections of the game, it’s so cool to see the different powers and mechanisms!! The environments are well made too! This game is pretty awesome, love it. I think my favourite section was the snow one. Just got to the ending, and I’m so sad. This game was beautiful😭. I loved Cody and May’s ‘toy’ character designs. The voiceovers were awesome too!! Overall, just an incredibly well thought out game
Oh man the jukebox part got me I literally just lost my grandpa Saturday morning it's now Sunday morning not even 24 hrs and I had a horrible relationship with him so hearing Cody speak so fondly of his really hurt I would have given anything to have a relationship like that with my grandpa damn he made me feel so unloved
It would have been a lot cooler at the end if May acc sang, even if it was just a short song (like when songs are cut to 2 mins for talent show auditions). Wordless vocalisations are amazing (especially when their voice gets stronger/ belts & the music swells), but it would hv been nice for her to just sing something - maybe something that felt ethereal (like 'Into The Unknown' ). It was just a bit anti-climatic tbh, especially since her performance repeated the tune she'd been singing for the entire level leading up to it.
This game is really beautiful. I think the message about needing support really resonates with me. It's so hard to follow a passion on your own, and every tiny word of encouragement just makes you glow when you get it, especially from someone you care about.
I loved every second of this game and the commentary between Evelyn and Seán was so fantastico. You two have become my favourite youtubers from watching this series. I can't wait to watch more co-op videos with you two. And you are just the cutest couple. I can see you both really love each other. I long to have a relationship like that, with my girlfriend. Thank you both for such a great series and for being such an inspiration for me. Love you two!
This game being open-ended works perfectly. Even with couples' therapy, some marriages never get repaired. Any animosity between the couples may lessen or disappear, but it only grants clarity to think about divorce or staying together with a clear mind. If anything, couples' therapy is mainly a tool to teach couples to respect and listen to each other. And that's what Cody and May have been doing throughout the game with Dr. Hakim's guidance; they've participated in exercises to strengthen their understanding of each other and, at the least, remember why they fell in love in the first place. Remembering that becomes a great basis for trying to start over again, whether as a couple or as amicably separated individuals. So this game having an open-interpretation ending works very well. Whether or not they decide the marriage can be saved is not what's important; it's the fact they finally found common ground with each other and understand how to support one another and be there for each other. And most importantly, that their daughter should not be ignored in such a sensitively tumultuous time. Especially for a child Rose's age, it's easy that they start blaming themselves for their parents wanting to separate. It's a touchy subject that most people don't think of or consider, and it really puts into perspective how Rose tried to communicate with her comatose parents that she thought they weren't happy with her. A reflection of how children are receptive of these negative emotions and can be quick to blame themselves if not assured that they're loved and are not at fault for the situation. Especially when they really love their parents and are willing to do what they feel is necessary to keep them together. An overall beautiful game with a lot of heart and one of the greatest messages I've ever seen. Wonderful character growth and consistent advancement of the plot that parallels what couples would experience during couples' therapy.
Sometimes you forget to remind each other that you love each other and that it’s okay to speak about yourself in a imperfect way. They were loud characters from the start so to be honest I doubt they got divorce. People make it like it’s normal to divorce over a vacuum, it’s never the vacuum. It’s the fact they both stop trusting each other just because someone would sometimes forget to vacuum.
Oh Jesus,I know I'm very emotional but Jesus that ending with the daughter thinking she's at fault really tears me up. I think while I dislike the ending, because I don't really like the message that divorces are the end all be all and finding your love will fix all your problems but damn if this game didn't make me smile and cry.
Moles are cute tho. Though, they are a nuisance when they dig up the yard. Ngl, I want a giant terrarium and have a mole in it so I can watch him dig around and make his home

aw I love that! the end is perfect in my opiinion, open enough to let you infer, closed enough to get the feeling that things have at least turned for the better
1:38:15 "Never underestimate the power of the Cock and Ball Strategy." Seriously. I knew that Jack was just stalling for time, but the fact that he used his absolute 'confident panic' over not actively losing before then to mask the fact that he was getting Gab to run down the clock was genius. Absolute UA-cam play right there. Jack, "Yeah, go ahead, put the piece there, see what happens." Sweating like a pig, has zero clue what's happening. Gab, "Don't do that to me!" Knows exactly how to play but begins doubting herself anyway.
yes, communication is very important in any relationship, including friendship. but not many people are interested in keeping up that communication so it falls apart. that's why my closest friend of 14 years and now boyfriend of 4 years communicate a lot despite the physical distance. it's not always easy, and sometimes we still get annoyed or mad over something that was said, but after a cool off period, things are as they were because we talk it out.
nice, i really like how they handled the ending by making it kinda open and neither super bad nor good but still feeling like it had a good outcome anyways. I worried before that the ending would just be 'so they don't divorce and are happy forever after', but now it just feels like they worked something out without any explicits
Thank you for this experience Gab! Oh, the ending song gave me chills. I really liked this playthrough with Gab and Seán, this was fun. I agree with the after thoughts over the credits. The writing was not 100% there for the type of story this was trying to tell. The characters aren't properly communicating about their issues, even though they start to become friends again. DANG this game is pretty though. The developers and designers have all done tremendous work, I want to visit every single game location in person. I'd love an art book for this~

That series was the most wholesome one I’ve ever watched and both of you made it even extra special! I literally waited for each episode to be uploaded The last part was the one that literally cracked me... when you got to the part when you help make a stage for May my heart! Dude it was so emotional for me I teared with no control when May started singing and my eyes was flooded with tears when they kissed😢 and let’s not mention the actual end of the game when Cody and May where looking for Rose and found her at the bus station and she starts explaining to her parents why she ran away my eyes it was like the flood from the Babel it was a Heartache for me at least FYI it took me a day to respond to this because I really wanted to share how much I enjoyed the series especially when both of you Evelien and Seán it will be impossible to watch any other gamer, youtuber and a streamer I follow play this... I mean it was perfect for me you playthrough so once again thank you both I needed this needed something wholesome like this🙏🏻 (Now I’m gonna suggest this game to my father so we can play it ourselves make our own wholesome moments)
Seriously love watching you and Sean play this game. I watched all the streams as you played, but I'm going back through them again because it's so fun.
I honestly preferred the way it ended with the open-endedness. I would have hated if the game was like just communicate and support each other and help each other with your passions and it will all work out! I know someone who went through therapy for 2 years to try and save his marriage cause he had 2 young kids and it still didn't work out. I prefer the message that it can definitely help but it doesn't always necessarily solve everything. I do like the 'we'll put any differences aside for the sake of the child' spin it had on it. Overall - enjoyed it!
Gab reminds me a little of my aunt. That's a good thing, my aunt is a badass. Gab seems like a badass. This is my first time ever viewing stuff on her channel.

@@jamilgonzaga7081 no I meant my parents told me it was my fault. I would never think to blame my kids for a divorce I wanted.
@@Lovinia1 Oh wow that's just straight effed up
Kids don't care about marriage and divorce.
I kind of like the idea of them still going through with the divorce but being friends and supporting eachother
Collaborey-SEAN was just the cherry on the cake throughout this whole experience lol.
I loved this gameplay Gab, you always deliver the best memories for us, and having you and jack boy play this made my days 💙
The message is quite vague in the end for me, but I love how, despite the Book being kind of annoying with them, but very cute and loco, his message is important; "collaboration" and "passion", not implying that they stay together, but growing from within lets say, to be there for their daughter WHILE choosing what's best for them as individuals.
Those small jumping spiders are cute. But spiders that are size of my palm, oooh boy... I'll pretend like that dog in the "This is fine." meme...
This game honestly did so many things perfectly, and with all the heart it has and an ending that is somewhat optimistic yet realistic, I put this up there with one of the best releases of the year.
I’d like to see a sequel/another game exploring the sibling dynamic of divorce.
Same. I've had one marriage and one divorce, and the entire relationship narrative has generally been really stressful and complicated, but the divorce turned into one of the most important and positive events in the whole thing. I got my best friend back, and I wouldn't trade that for the world.
The "nghee" sound always makes me think of Arin so I was so happy to hear your impressions of it haha
0:57 The Gab Reaper has come for your garden! Hide your plants!
I'm glad to see you and your boyfriend tackling this together. I've enjoyed every bit of it and gotta say, your gaming styles complement each other.
They over here riding the jumping spiders and being mean to them like they aren’t the most harmless and honestly considered the cutest spiders out there.
BE NICER TO THEM. 😭
And I just found it funny that they said the moles trying to kill them cute lmao 🤣
I AGREE. I used to hate spiders, and now I OWN 2 OF THESE GUYS! And I LOOOOOVE them!!
There's a Tiktok where this lady had a spider that actually helped people overcome their aracnophobia the spider recently passed away .
Yeah bro, I mean, I felt so bad seeing this.. it's not like I own a spider or anything, I just like and respect them in general.
@@enigmaticmind4450 Hahahaha. That's why I have my two babies.
May’s singing sounds like that of a mermaid and I absolutely love it.
i don’t care what they say! those spiders are cute as fucc! 🥺
truuuue
Yesss the cutesttt
@RandomShtuffsoh my goodness yes! i knew they looked familiar, but i wasn’t sure from where! that lil dude is so sweet
YESSSS
it just scares me how much this couple relies on tears
Finally... Been waiting all day for this......LETSSS GOOOOOOOO.....
I feel that. I was thinking exactly the same :)
Heck yea!!
@@halwaffles me too, I had to skip most of that whole section before I had a panic attack ‘:0
@@anna-gj1jb its OK, I find spiders cute but everyone can have different opinions :-)
I will forever remember... *COLABORATION*
Oh my god it was adorable when Gabbs told Jacks chat they were mean for saying Jack was cringe! Dammit chat! just let them have fun!
I like the teamwork mechanics in this game! It’s so cool!
I’m going to be so so so sad when this ends!☹️ I love watching Sean and Evelyn play together ❤️❤️
Not gonna cry, not gonna cry...
Reaches end: 😭
If you listen closely, you can hear the Theme of the Game (The one May sings) playing in the background every time Cody and May have a "moment".
The amount of time jack says "this is easy" he dies immediately xD
"Arent we killing the joy?"
In a minute Evelien, in a minute...
Gabi and Sean playing the greatest game ever. I love the teamwork
May singing during the puzzles reminded me of that one song from "Until Dawn"
Absolutely loved watching your playthrough of this game. Can't wait to watch more playthroughs of you and Seán together ❤️ x
What? That's not what the ending was trying to convey whatsoever. Did we play the same game?
The ending is not “FiNd YoUr lOve AnD yOuR pRobLeMs wILl be fiXeD” lol. What game did you play?
The spider is adorable. Moles are the evil ones here.
Moles are cute tho. Though, they are a nuisance when they dig up the yard. Ngl, I want a giant terrarium and have a mole in it so I can watch him dig around and make his home
chunky lil garden menaces
I swear to Christ, I'm going to murderize the next person who says another thing about those gd spiders.
@@fountgarde the only cute spiders are grand daddy long legs. The rest can burn

The animation in this game was absolutely gorgeous. I loved the doll designs.

I love the fact that all though the game the way they spoke to each other changed 😭
The way they match each other's energy is so cute
aw I love that! the end is perfect in my opiinion, open enough to let you infer, closed enough to get the feeling that things have at least turned for the better
1:38:15 "Never underestimate the power of the Cock and Ball Strategy."
Seriously.
Gab, "Don't do that to me!" Knows exactly how to play but begins doubting herself anyway.
im obsessed with games that have music levels so this is very happy
Some weeds are actually quite helpful to other plants and are natural bug repellents.
yes, communication is very important in any relationship, including friendship. but not many people are interested in keeping up that communication so it falls apart. that's why my closest friend of 14 years and now boyfriend of 4 years communicate a lot despite the physical distance. it's not always easy, and sometimes we still get annoyed or mad over something that was said, but after a cool off period, things are as they were because we talk it out.
It was great watching both you and Sean play this game, the two of you make a great team.
You two are whimps in regards to spiders. They were adorable!
Love this series! I’m so glad I discovered your channel (curtesy of Sean).
nice, i really like how they handled the ending by making it kinda open and neither super bad nor good but still feeling like it had a good outcome anyways.
I'd love an art book for this~
This game had me crying all the way through. Beautifully made. They overcame obstacles and fixed many things they loved, TOGETHER. Ive watched my mother go rhrough 3 divorces... And they hit hard, especially that first one.... This game.... Was amazing. You guys did an amazing job. Thank you for this gameplay
That series was the most wholesome one I’ve ever watched and both of you made it even extra special! I literally waited for each episode to be uploaded
The last part was the one that literally cracked me... when you got to the part when you help make a stage for May my heart! Dude it was so emotional for me I teared with no control when May started singing and my eyes was flooded with tears when they kissed😢 and let’s not mention the actual end of the game when Cody and May where looking for Rose and found her at the bus station and she starts explaining to her parents why she ran away my eyes it was like the flood from the Babel it was a Heartache for me at least
FYI it took me a day to respond to this because I really wanted to share how much I enjoyed the series especially when both of you Evelien and Seán it will be impossible to watch any other gamer, youtuber and a streamer I follow play this... I mean it was perfect for me you playthrough so once again thank you both I needed this needed something wholesome like this🙏🏻
(Now I’m gonna suggest this game to my father so we can play it ourselves make our own wholesome moments)
Jack: You can't make a spider cute to me
*sad lucas the spider noises*
That was such a powerful scene in the end. Of course they are going to be friends, this whole series was absolutely heart warming
This was easily one of the cutest games I’ve seen in ages.
I don’t care what they say. To me, those spiders are adorable
Lmaoooo Sean finessed the hell out of that chess game. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This game should definitely be a nominee for game of the year
Coming back after it won GOTY hits different.
Seriously love watching you and Sean play this game. I watched all the streams as you played, but I'm going back through them again because it's so fun.
Jack: You can't make the spider cute to me
Me, a severe arachnophobe: Aww, he fuzzy.
Ok the neon light part, is my favorit part of the game
Jack is so fast. Doesn't give a chance for us to look at the game properly. That music level was so beautiful 😍
I loved this series so much! The game had so much heart and was so creative. Thanks Jack and Gab for letting us come along for the ride!
Its worrying the fact the kid was just chill with being blamed
" oh the mom was blue and cody was red, so rose is purple! " *cody having green icons and a green theme the whole series.*
It Takes (2): Dr. Hakim returns and try's "Mend" Rose's relationship... She's still seven.
As a flute player, the way the orchestra lady is holding the flute at 1:54:49 hurts my soul. The guy to her right is fine though!!
Definitely going to miss this playthrough. This was a perfect game for yall to play.
I really liked the ending! Its not forcing you to get positive! It helps to remember the good times and gives the decision for you to think!
Gab reminds me a little of my aunt. That's a good thing, my aunt is a badass. Gab seems like a badass. This is my first time ever viewing stuff on her channel.
