I love Whitney Houston! Her voice is just out of this world. Even in her later years she could still give me chills when her voice was well rested. I respect the fact that she still performed LIVE considering the damage she did to her voice.
There's a video I'd found years and years ago called something like "what the media didn't show about Whitney in 2010" and it was a one hour or so compilation of great, really great moments from the 2009-10 tour that completely slipped under the radar in light of the bad moments she had at that time that caught much more media attention. I remember being stunned at just how good she could still sound even after all she'd been through. Completely agree that if she'd been able to get sober and maintain sobriety and work with a vocal coach, she would've been able to smash it out of the park once again. It's one of the huge what ifs I have in music and life

I once read or heard Clive say that he'd told her he wouldn't put her in a studio until she stopped smoking, because it was gonna be detrimental to any album efforts, really, and that they'd had a meeting the week before she passed away and she told him she had finally quit. Imagine the album she would've been able to produce being finally off cigarettes and slowly restoring her voice back to normal. Again, it's just one of those big what ifs that we'll sadly never know the answer to

That "DO!" @4:40 genuinely made me laugh out loud not knowing you were going to crack up at it too! That choice was just so unexpected yet still so wonderfully executed yet hilarious! Lol But yes! I always say she never lost her voice, it just became very inconsistent and unreliable. Even in her prime, there were people that were around her that said she would have days where her voice just seemingly "didn't work" but when its on, IT'S ON! But yes there were some AMAZING moments in her last tour that let you know she still had it. Her range was still there, but the color of her voice darkened and made you think she was singing as high as she was. And speaking of her sounding like the 90's, there was a clip of her impromptu singing "I love you" to the audience and she LITERALLY sounded like 90's Whitney and I'm not exaggerating. I was like bruh, she still got it! BUT I can only imagine how frustrating that felt for her, know her capabilities, but not being able to access them when she wanted and needed to. But she was also very sick during that last tour and I wish she would have postponed it to take better care of herself. I honestly think she would still be here if she didn't do that tour.

She was most likely already in the midst of the tour, at that point she didn't get enough time to rest her voice and she was just hoarse through the whole performance. Had she rested her voice and done fewer dates the tour would have been different

The voice never left but the juice did sadly. After 1993… rough. Sure, she had her moments but not the same thing. I am still waiting for clips from her summer tour and Sweetwater’s to show up. She was at her BEST!!

Yes! The one where she was in the all white she was very pregnant right there and she was in great voice. That was just rehearsal. I love that video.

I love Whitney, but her voice was gone by 2010. I saw her in NYC and in Europe in 2009 and 2010. She had a really hard time hitting any notes.
