- Pakistani Police definitely knows how to ruin a brilliant riding day in the mountains! There’s no way I’m going back to being escorted or even have them search my hotel again, that’s not how I wanna be traveling…so I just drove off! Parting ways with my new travel family in their campers was sad but I will meet them again for sure and hey, I made it on the freakin’ motorway after all and nobody said anything;)

Marc, get in touch with the German embassy and ask for advice about security. Some of the parts of Pakistan you are now riding through have a troubled past (and present). Additionally, Pakistan has just deported 1.5 million Afghans, many of whom are part of a tribal group that sits astride the Afghan/Pakistan border. You may well find that the measures being taken, even if cack handed and poorly communicated, are well-intentioned.

I first started my motocycle travels in the late 60s.
To Morocco from the UK, being my first.
I have always treated the counties with Respect, I have not always agreed with their rules but have been grateful for letting me visit.
I have seen people who haven't respected the rules,
Then, they can not believe they had to face the consequences.
I have seen rules change because of others,
In the past, I didn't appreciate people giving me advice.
I do now, well into my 70s, still biking

You'll be ok, meeting them along on their journeys. Something to look forward to. I worked on the road for 28 yrs. on and off. Sometimes out 6 months or so without coming home. Pretty damn tough. Then there were two week rotations that just seemed a waste. Not enough time to get anything done. I've traveled my side of the world extensively over the last 50 yrs by motorcycle mainly. Camping and moteling along the way. Sometimes you really go through a lot of shit mentally. Each of us does. All my traveling friends will tell you that is the worst enemy you have, right in your head. You take care. You are seeing a dream world that through politics is mostly closed to me. From the hills of east Kentucky USA take care.

You should trade, one selfie for one subscription. 😄 Those houses on the hills,look exactly like any other mountain area in the world, the Alps, Hollywood etc. Just the size and finish that differs. I would take it easy when driving in distant areas, even if the road and the bike are tempting you to speed. You are faaaar away from doctors and spare parts, both for you and your bike. Be safe!

I was planning to travel through Pakistan as it is a spectacular country with lovely people. Your experience made me re-think my planning. This is just harassment at this point. I would've done the same as you. Being on a motorcycle traveling over long distances is hard enough. Stress and being tired in such chaotic environments is a recipe for disaster.
