Definitely with you on the “judging books by their covers” thing; like, hello, that’s the book’s number one marketing tool? Publishers spend so much time and money making the best covers they can for the books on their list, so I think it’s ridiculous to pretend that the aesthetic of a book isn’t a pretty inherent part of its content. And I think the take about the best way to enjoy books opinion is pretty interesting, perhaps because I’ve never been the sort to let others’ opinions about the things I like influence me/my behavior.
