Execpt Prince had already written and recorded a demo of the song for Apollonia. Sheila literally had nothing to do with the writing of the song. There's a demo circulating of Prince and Jill Jones doing a reference vocals for Apollonia 6 in 1983. Prince and Jill are even heard buried in the released version. Glamorous Life's demo was recorded in December 1983, before Erotic City was recorded in 1984 and they started working on her album, with most, if not all, songs initially intended for Apollonia 6. Sheila just added her own vocals and percussion. That's it. Revisionist history is funny.
I agree! His demos of this song tell the true story. She's a good musician but he had the creativity to write the entire song and she just sent some vocals to throw on the track. I heard the original version released from his estate in 2019. He was way beyond his peers who road his success.
Glamorous Life and Love Bizarre are clearly Prince's sound/Minneapolis, lyrics etc. Sure Sheila was in the percussions b/c he gave her the songs for that album. You don't hear this sound again in any of her music since, nor the lyrics. That's how one can tell who did what.
u suckasses, sheila was in demand b4 prince & still is. bein closer 2 your purple majesty than HE would have allowed any of u haters affords her the right 2 say whatever. f all yall
@@frederickbradford7799 why so angry? I think most people adore Sheila E. She's a bad mofo in all respects of drumming. No doubt! The MN sound is unique, as well as Prince's sound and lyrical styling. You match it with Sheila's sound and styling of recording solo and they don't match. Doesn't mean that the story is true or false. It just doesn't afford anyone to say what they want. If that were the case, then why not say it when he was here, so we could have all sides of the story. JS

What an incredible story! My biggest story from Sunset Blvd is when I was trying to turn Left out of the Tower Records onto Sunset and none other than Bette Midler let me merge into the lane in front of her
Sheila baby, I love you but you know damn well The Big Homie already had a reference vocal completed for tons of the stuff yall were doing during that period 😒
I was thinking the same thing, but he did loosen-up later in his career and want others to contribute more. A lot of the horn parts in the “Horns era” came from Atlanta Bliss. And as far as strings, Prince and Claire Fischer never even MET!!! Show how much he trusted Claire. And when you hear Claire’s string arrangements you know why. That ‘Screams of Passion’ string arrangement is Killer!!!!
But I do remember like 6 years ago looking at a video that said the original prior to me hearing the original version with Prince there was a version of Glamorous Life with Vanity and I do recall of interview with Jesse Johnson and he said he was in the studio when they originally recorded glamorous life and it was Vanity it was doing the vocals it was supposed to be on the new Vanity 6 album which has something to do with purple rain prior to her withdrawal from the script of the movie being replaced by Apollonia
Well between being a Great Drummer,, and Crashing her car,, I guess it's safe to say, besides living the Glamorous Life, she likes to get a BANG!! out of life.hahahaha😄!!!!
This reminds me of interviews with old time pro wrestlers, where they go on about how they legit beat people for championships. The cats out of the bag, guys. We're in on the joke. The promoters decide who wins the match and Prince's proteges were puppets.
People forget that she worked with George Duke as a percussionist/drummer before she worked with Prince, so it's not like she didn't know her way around a studio. She wasn't some skirt on the sidewalk that Prince randomly threw a contract at.
She’s lying. Prince recorded that song alone with a guide vocal. Sheila added percussion and her vocal to it. Funny how this comes out after he died. You can find the original Prince version of this song I his album Originals
Why do musicians wear sunglasses inside? Is it really the enigmatic, mysterious or unknowable vibe? Or is it booze and drugs? I suspect the real answer is 50/50.. discuss!
Sooo dishonest. Prince wrote the song, there's no "we" about it....the demo is now public. Just reference the writing credits. No need to be so pathological. Say you co-wrote "A Love Bizarre", we'll agree, but not this, my dear.

Love that song....Even more now hearing the story behind and ahead of it!
What an incredible story! My biggest story from Sunset Blvd is when I was trying to turn Left out of the Tower Records onto Sunset and none other than Bette Midler let me merge into the lane in front of her
Love this song.....powerful and influential woman. Every girl wanted to be a drummer, a strong woman. NYC strong ❣️❣️❣️❣️
It’s amazing how we never heard this when he was alive. That track was already done. Next she’s going to tell us the story of writing love bizarre.
The girls say Sheila is a fraud woman. Everyone from the purple fam has denounced her lemon cake fanaticism story as well.
sheila was a millionaire w/plenty clout when he was still nelson, appollonia disappeared off the scene as a lyin dope fiend who called it research
Right! Definitely revisionist history! That Song was already written and produced by Prince - she just added vocals and timbales to the track.
I guess I missed the part when she said she wrote it...
I love her ballad "Hold me"
Sheila E smart, talented, and fine.

Cool story - Still listening to Glamorous life.
