She was special, like Olga in my humble opinion. Could watch those 2 all day long regardless of their placements.

In 1977, Mukhina wasn't neither injured or fatigued. She was silver medalist in the Europeans behind Comaneci but made some mistakes in the World Cup which costed her medals. She was better the following year when she became the World champion. Her fall started in 1979 followed by the fatal injury in 1980, a few weeks prior to the Olympics.

Well let me not agree with you.🤪 To inform you better.... injuries had almost the whole career and fatigue too. Especially after the Europeans when Lena finished school and started to train more and more. In that time she already was hiding injuries from coach, even was smirking amoniak to keep her fatigue not noticed. Yes probably she succeed no matter of all this 1977-1978 but that doesn't mean she was fine. She wasn't..... But the bill was paid yes later when body and mind were burned totally.

La mayoria de los mejores lo hace hasta hoy, en ese deporte es asi. No es possible sin lessiones y no puedes permitir parar para curarlas porque el tiempo se te va.... Por Lena sabemos porque tuvo tragico final pero con lessiones y Dolores se compite mucho por lo menos si quieres tocar el nivel y trofeos mas grandes.

She was both of those things which lead to her mistakes.
Had her coach used a tiny bit of common sense instead of mercilessly working her into the ground to fulfill his own ambitions, she would have easily gone to the 1980 Olympics and won. She had Nadia's grace and poise and harder skills and was better than Filatova.

She was under tremendous pressure though..forced by her coach to do exercises that were dangerous for her..she was treated badly not as a human but as a human mean to emphasize the glory of the soviet ideals..think about that.

No....and he wasn't the only one. The whole Gymnastics Soviet Federation because of neglect and bad practices in that particular case had to be sanctioned, but lets say ....dark years. No punishments or press revelations. Everything under the carpet.....

The whole soviet sport program was monstrous…
When they saw talent on kids, they overtrained and drug them,
making them develop diseases and die so early
BUT the Soviet Union produced the best gymnasts,
thats a fact, I am not talking only of difficulty,
they have a strong feeling for artistry too!!
Dark years as you say, dark dark years…
