I will never get this fly out of mind. It’s up on my permanent google search bar. 7 years ago now. I tied 3 and to this day I have not fished it. But it is a beautiful thing and For years I fished streamers exclusively and am drawn more to them. I pray all is well with you and yours.
Very nice ! A fly with a evening dress 😄 BRAVO.
Never the less this pattern is bound to catch fish 🎣
Absolutely beautiful!!! Wow!!!
Davie I caught a huge Great Lakes Steelhead with this pattern. Fantastic bait fish pattern!
Hello Davie, I'm so glad I found your channel again , i haven't had any alerts for a while ,I've always liked your videos on fly tying, i catch loads of fish on the flies i learned to tie from you
One of my favorites, stopped fishing as many Buggers because these are more fun and effective for me here in the US.
Very Nice Davie. Cute little guy.
Thankyou for sharing this video with us.
Aloha🌴🎣🐟🐟
Hi Davie...I love this little minnow, perfect for those hungry Bull trout here in Canada! Thanks for the instructions always first class!
This is a great fry pattern - one of the best I've seen. I especially like that it can be tied small or large. I'd fish this with a lot of confidence if the trout were hitting fry...
Lovely tie, I love to tie little baitfish patterns and I will be doing this version. Thanks for the info, tips and tricks to better tieing. Love your channel Davie.
Hi Davie great bait fish pattern you give a bloke some great ideas thank you again mate.
extremely effective on brown trout.i used it all season and it did its job every time from early spring to late summer.
Thanks for sharing this one Davie . Wicked little baitfish pattern loving the gills ,flash and eye.. I can see any predator having a go at this one. If you get the time to do a sandeel pattern sometime. Would be much appreciated. Thanks for sharing your skills...
Merry Christmas Davie and a prosperous healthy and blessed new year.
Hey Davie another great pattern.
very nice baitfish pattern Davie.. I will definitely add this to my fly box.. Thanks.!!
Very nice Davie!
Man you are good.!you got down like Charlie brown
Four thumbs up Davie!
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I like the this one! Very good pattern for rainbow trout! I like your tying. I'm subscribing!
Thanks 👍
very nice pattern ,,I could see that working on smallmouth bass.walleye crappie
Wish I could understand you. Love the video anyway!
A very beautiful bait fish.
Loved Davie...
Wow you are a artist
Great Dave! so beautiful!!
Apprezzo molto la finezza dei suoi streamer.Alcuni pensano che basta avvolgere qualcosa all'amo per funzionare.Tutto deve avere un equilibrio, una funzione, una proporzione.Gli streamer sono esche da intenditori.
Very nice Davie, I'm definitely going to try tying that. It's almost like a half & half ( Clouser/Deceiver) without the weight. Do you know how it fishes and if tying the eyes on the bottom of the shank would effect how it swims? thanks Davie. ( also I think leaving the wing angled up without the resin would give it more scissor action like a Joe Brooks Blonde. What do you think?) Thanks again Davie, you really make me think about fly design!
will definitely use this one for bass thanks again.
Looks super!👍🏼
I'd tie the wings shorter if I were fishing for landlocked salmon in Maine. They like to strike short, at the tail, and I want them to have a good opportunity to contact the hook. 👍
Great looking fly 👌
thank you! very nice streamer.
Impressive pattern
That looks like it is perfect for perch
very beautiful thanks!!!
So good!
I wonder why I haven't tied this fly yet? I think the spey feather variant will be good for sea trout.
great pattern.going to tie some up tonite.forsee inland stripers eating this.
really nice
Can only find Diamond Eyes 4mm Clear in Denmark no USA sales
sos un genio man
Amazing. thanks for tips..
Hi Davie, can you suggest a pattern to imitate small dace/dace fry? Our river system has been inundated with dace, an invasive species on the River Barrow System I'm sure the larger Trout are feeding on them.
Hi Derek,
One of the best patterns is the Black Nosed Dace I've attached a link to one of the videos I found on youtube for you to see..I hope this is of some help to you...
All the very best Davie..

Davie McPhail 👍
Lovely patern. Make a lot of baitfish for the Danish seatrouts, but my exsperience is that the fish do, take the fly a lot in the tail if they are too long and. I keep them at the max, 3 cm (2,5 inch) behind the hookbend. If i make them longer 6-9 cm, i tie in a stinger hook on a intruderwire, so i have two hooks on the fly...this is a very poison medicine for the seatrouts in olive grizzly saddel feathers, pearl dub with long fibers, 3-4 mm eyes, uv glue or epoxy glue, and dye the area under the eyes red with a marker.
Hi trullevuit,
It's great to hear how you like to tye your flies for the seatrout in Denmark, I know many will find your comment very interesting on how and why you tye your flies..I'm glad you liked the fly and thank you very much for you comment..
All the very best Davie
Davie McPhail
Your welcome my fellow fly tyer.
Beautiful little baitfish!! What faux fur did you use for the wing? The barring is perfect!
Hi Jonathan,
It's that long ago since I bought the hair I can't remember where I got it so I did a search like I did back then looking for some and unfortunately I couldn't find it...I'll keep looking and if I do I will certainly get back to you..I'm glad you liked the fly..
All the very best Davie
The eyes, the eyes. Where can you get them? I'm so tired of the eyes we have here in the states. Spend 5 minutes getting the pair to sit right, 5 minutes to try to get them covered with adhesives, 2 casts to loose them. These barbell eyes are perfect. Now to try and find them.

Nice fly and presentation. If you have the materials, a beginner fly tyer can tie that and it would be very effective.
is that for mackerel?
Hi Davie, thanks for sharing this pattern, can you tell me where I can get the Diamond eyes from? I would like to give this one a go, thanks for all you do for us Novices.
Hi Grandpa Chris R,
I have attached a link to the company that make and sell these eyes,.I do know they sell them to wholesale as well so you may find them being sold by other companies..Veniards here in the UK wholesale them as well to their stockists..I'm glad you enjoyed the video..

Thanks @@DavieMcPhail , truly appreciated Sir.
Very nice fly. What was the name of the tail feathers... just has Krystal flash on recipe. Thank you again for a great video.
Hi Domingo Rodriguez,
I've updated the material list and added in the hackles I used for the tail..It was White Indian Cock hackles...All the very best Davie..
Hello Davie. I was just wondering where I can get some of those eyes. I've tried looking on other sites and tried to get my local fly shop to get me some but they say they can't order them from any place. Could you help please mate. Have a great day and looking forward to more videos. Best Regards,Ken
Hi Ken,
I have attached a link to the eyes for you, any shop that stock Veniards materials should be able to help as they are sold by them..
All the very best Davie...

loverly fly as ever Davie... but won't it fish upside down due to the dumbbell eyes acting as a keel weight?
Hi Daryl,
The eyes are very light and with the dressing it will help keep it sitting upright but I would agree with you if you used most dumbbell eyes this would cause it to turn upside down..I'm glad you liked the fly...
All the very best Davie...
Alright Davie, if the tack bothers you, pick up a nail salon lamp from amazon or similar, put the finished flies in for 20 minutes or so and the tack is totally gone.
Martyn
Hi Martyn,
I have used the salon lamp before especially when tying saltwater flies and as you said it does cure the resin far better though my niece needed one as hers broke so I've just never replaced it...Most tyers will not use one so I will always say to coat the resin with the varnish like in the video..
All the very best Davie
Davie McPhail that's probably true, most tyers probably won't. Another thing I've noticed is that it helps with flexible resins, I used to have issues with yellowing on flex fleyes and the like, but the salon lamp stops it too.
All the best
Martyn
dope
Exelente👍👍👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎸
Nice and simple, how do you fish it ? As a streamer or under an indicator
Hi Mike,
I like to fish it with long pulls, short twitches and flicks with the rod tip but I would try almost anything to try and force a fish to have a go...I'm glad you liked the fly..
All the very best Davie
I bet that works good , going to tie some up and try swinging them on a trout Spey set up . I’m sure the fish will love them .
Thanks
