I have the disc one you showed and it is perfect for waiting in lines. I store it in a backpack with my water and snacks. I find it a touch heavy for long hikes but decent for short hikes, shopping for clothes with a friend (most places removed their waiting chairs during the pandemic and have no intention of putting them back), concerts and parades. That leaning stick is not a chair. You should return it with a paper that says “This is NOT a chair”😂

The inherent instability is such that all I can see is it slipping, and me falling, in a way that just *screams* serious injury, too - it's the stuff of nightmares, and I'm not even joking! ::shudders::

I feel like it's only really of any use if you're in a long line or something, since it's quick to set up and easy to move it around at a moment's notice and it doesn't take up much space at all. But aside from that very specific use case, you're better off just getting any number of other portable chair things.

    Hi James,
I think that had they called this the lean pack it would have made more sense. Given the cost and what you get I would give this one a miss. I am sure there is better out there. Still I very much enjoyed this review. Very well done.

Those collapsing stools seem like a much better option. They may not be as tall, but that are just as compact, way easier to adjust, way more sturdy, comes with straps and handles.
This videos just shows that even more.

Yapp, they’re better. Sadly the market is full of Chinese knockoffs, the original (Have A Seat® - My Stool) is patented and way sturdier, but most people doesn’t know. Every time i see those videos i try to point it out. The original isn’t even much pricier (around 10 bucks) and comes with a pillow..

I bought a cheap backpack with a built in mini folding stool for refereeing soccer. Best purchase I have made in a long time. The mini stool was surprisingly comfortable as it was foam padded and had a thick textile cover that has survived more than 5 years of heavy abuse with rocks, gravel, rain, etc.
I would not take it long distance though, as the metal frame sits on your back with minimal padding, so walking more than a mile or two round trip would get uncomfortable real fast. But it's great for just going a short distance to a soccer field and carrying everything in a single small backpack.
Your disc stool seems much better for backpacking or hiking.

I love your channel very much. I am an autistic woman who loves watching reviews and diy videos. I just love watching people do things and learning how stuff works. There are very cheap useless products that are a waste of time and life. Fast production and fashion is hurting the planet because it's being dumped on the ground and ends up in the ocean. I used to free dive and it's polluted the deeper and farther out you travel into the ocean it gets worse. Most people don't get to see it because they don't have the opportunity to travel out there. I watched the coral reefs slowly die and become smaller. I haven't been out there in awhile but I know for a fact it's gotten worse. I cried for the loss because I made friends with the animals and the ocean. It was my home away from home. I am very comfortable under the water the deeper I dive the less stress and anxiety I feel. The ocean gets heavy when you dive down to 25 meters and after that it gets heavier as well. I used to go to 32 meters on one breath of air for 25 minutes. It took lots of practice to learn how to hold my breath and handle the pressure. I can see under the salty water too my eyes are capable of adjusting to it. I found out some of my family members have the same abilities. I believe it's genetic and if we don't practice the ability it can go away. Most of the time it's the younger people who have the ability and as they get older it slowly goes away. I am different so I haven't lost any of my abilities. I believe my autism is partly responsible. 😊

I saw this on Amazon and as someone with chronic fatigue syndrome I was curious. Then I realized it worked exactly like when I lean/sit on the handle of my cane. Only it's way less durable, stable, and useful, and way more expensive. My cane looks like it'd be more comfortable too, because the handle is covered in foam so it's all cushioned. I decided to stick with my cane.

Someone I knew had walking stick with a spreading handle to sit on. This was pre internet days. I probably haven't seen a similar product like that.
I like the stool better than the stick. But the stick can be improved with a better flat seat. I think they are giving more importance to the design than the function.

    • @Rubiastraify

If you mean that oversized-foot shaped thing that has suction cups on the bottom, and has brushes like a broom, and you stick your foot in and out and it scrubs it all around--I've used it and I liked it. You have to use it in a shower stall that has a flat, smooth floor, though. It doesn't work well in a bathtub/shower combo--although you can manage. One place that I was living in had a nice big shower stall, but the floor was textured, so it didn't stick and was useless.
You can determine how soft or vigorous the scrubbing is by speed and pressure. It felt good and invigorating; could easily clean hard-to-reach spots.
But I agree -- I'd like to see a review of that, too.

man, stuff like that already exists but in the form of a cane with the top handle part able to open into a seat just like that compact chair. All they did is make the cane part telescopic.
