    Ok I've bio A level exam after 3 days and this is under my syllabus so lemme explain how boiling damages the nutrients. Boiling increases the kinetic energy firstly so the nutrients diffuse out of the cell at a faster rate, secondly and most importantly it disrupts the structure of cell membrane by denaturing the membrane proteins so the membrane permeability increases and thus rate of diffusion increases even more so most of the nutrients and minerals diffuses out of the cell. xD

    • @jasminm8647

      마스 I can't say how you're supposed to use rice water, but... some just allow the uncooked rice to ferment in the water. I can't say which method works better nor at all. The first video I saw on the matter said nothing of boiling, though most videos are calling for it to be boiled at some point in the process.

      Mahmuda Khan @ thats very general. Certain proteins require X amount of heat for X amount of time before the cell walls actually get broken down. Selective breeding in plants has been going on since 10000BCE, they are a shit ton tougher than you think. 21sec - 3 min , depending on your altitude is the over all time frame.

    try jasmine rice! it smells soooo good. I've fermented mine with an orange peel in it before, just in case the smell were to come up. And essential oil a couple of times. mine didn't stink in all the time I used it and stored it

  • @zahre_mar
    @zahre_mar 6 років тому +26

    It's an easy thing to try if you already cook rice frequently. You're supposed to soak rice for 24 hours anyway in order to kill the enzyme that makes grains harder to digest. It's a very nice smoothing shine treatment as well as a post-wash rinse. I find it works best on freshly washed hair. Applying it on product-loaded hair as a prewash didn't do much. For the record, Yao women use unpolished rice in their diet and their hair is a fabulous result of living in an ecologically clean place. All plant-based rinses are beneficial for hair growth, be it nettle, bamboo, tea leftovers etc.

    • @llilly6191
      @llilly6191 6 років тому +3

      Zahre Mar we're supposed to soak rice for 24 hours before cooking it? This is news to me..and I eat rice everyday. I should start doing that now.
      Btw, when you use it as a rinse, what's the smell like?

    • @zahre_mar
      @zahre_mar 6 років тому +2

      Most grains and legumes benefit from a lengthy soak, in order for the enzyme preventing the grain from decay to be completely deactivated. Eating unsoaked grains doesn't harm you but it causes a strain on your digestive system because instead of absorbing the readily available nutrients, it has to spend time to break down the enzyme first, causing a bloat and heavy feeling associated with whole grains. The smell of the rinse in question is slightly yeasty, like most fermented products but it's more mild compared to an ACV rinse. You can always boost with essential oils of your choosing in order to mask the scent, in case you plan to use this remedy as styling water.

    Yep, rice water is great for hair skin and nails. I ferment rice in water to make a probiotic called rejuvelac and I drink it every day :-)

    • @nishani3
      @nishani3 6 років тому +6

      Dante Velasquez can you pls give more info on the probiotic?

    • @DanteVelasquez
      @DanteVelasquez 6 років тому +18

      Yes! It's called rejuvelac. Rejuvelac is fermented typically from sprouted wheat grains, but any and every whole grain can be used. I use brown rice because I prefer the taste (white rice cannot be sprouted). Once you sprout the grains you leave them in water for about 2 days and they ferment and populate the water with lots of healthy and beneficial bacteria. You strain out the grains and add new water and you can ferment them a few more times. Fresh probiotics always have more live bacteria than pills so they have more benefits. Rejuvelac can also be used to ferment other things such as vegetables, salsa, and fruit juices. Since I have been drinking rejuvelac daily or a few years now I have noticed smoother more glowing skin, and better digestion. It also gets rid of and controls candida yeast overgrowth. Rejuvelac is similar to Kombucha and Kefir but it tastes more yeasty.

    Will rice water work for hair growth n stop hair falling out n shedding

  • @linzeeb4
    @linzeeb4 6 років тому

    Boiling would leach the nutrients from the rice-which lessens the nutrition of the rice by releasing them into the water. But since the point is to use the water it wouldn't be a problem, it's highly unlikely that you're boiling hot enough to damage the minerals or micronutrients on a stove at home. Boiling would however kill the bacteria that cause the fermenting and also likely evaporate the alcohols produced by the fermenting process-that's how it would "stop the fermenting." But I don't know what the specific benefit of the fermentation process brings to the hair to know if boiling is a good idea for fermented rice water or not. Boiling the water and soaking the water would be very similar, fermenting it is the most different process.

    If you’re going to eat the rice, then boiling food tends to leech the nutrients into the water and is less ideal for eaten food. That said, if you’re utilizing the water as a soak, having leeched the nutrients out into that water seems more beneficial actually. I’d actually recommend trying to get as much of the nutrients out of the rice as possible if you’re utilizing it in water. What do you think it means when you say it kills the nutrients? Heat can denature proteins and in boiling some nutrients can leak out, but if heat destroyed all the nutrient value in food we would have a hard time with our primarily cooked food diets don’t you think? Just my take on it, I could very well be wrong.

  • @nadasalib4857
    @nadasalib4857 5 років тому

    I've watched several videos of the Yao women talking about and showing how they prepare the rice water. They use the water that they used to wash the rice. They let it sit for a week, then they place in a pot, add the skin of the pomelo fruit, and the oil of the tea plant (camillia tea plant, which is actually a type of "cake", it's caked). They break up the "cake" with a hammer, and add chunks of it into the pot. They then BOIL the whole lot in the pot, then let it cool off. Once it's cooled they place it into a bowl and take it outside and dip their hair into the bowl, then use it as a rinse, throughout their hair. Then they wash it out at a spring water location or if it's raining then they use the rain water to rinse it out. So, I"m a bit confused as to why it's such a controversy. They are the original users of rice water, they've been using it for thousands of years and this is how they make, and have been making it for thousands of years. They're the experts in rice water hair treatments.

    There are videos on UA-cam showing the Yao women's rice water method. They boil the rice in the water. It has worked for them for hundreds of years.
    Although there are women on UA-cam who swear boiling the water doesn't matter, because they have seen extreme hair growth using unboiled rice water on their hair.

    I personally boiled the rice, drained it, and allowed it to sit and ferment for 24 hrs. Ive had 1 inch in 2 weeks. The shedding is almost non-existant. Tremendous results. But you can do what works 4 you, science or not. Ive tried both ways.

      That means your probably protein overload. Sensitive to protein. Rice water is high levels of proteins. Try it again 3-4 weeks later, massage it in just on the scalp with a spray bottle, add a deep conditioner with moisture cover with cap amd let them sit for 20-3£ minutes.rinse all out with cool water. If your hair reacts to it the same way then your protein sensitive. Happened to me so thats why im sharing my tips and tricks with you. Hope all goes well 😊

    Does your hair shrink? I pretty got the same pattern of curls as u have, but shorter. Actually it’s passed my shoulders when it’s wet, but as soon as it’s dry it is shrinking like crazy. The more it grows, the more it looks short . People often ask if i had a cut 😤😫. Have you also deal with that?

    Can you please do either Ayurvedic herb oil or mask next? There is an Indian company called Khadir. They sell premade Ayurvedic natural products without any parabens or mineral oil. You can find their products and on amazon. However, eBay has more of a selection as well as better prices. Have you ever heard about the benefits of onion juice? The Green Beauty channel here on UA-cam has information on it.

      use an essential oil and apply it to
      your scalp or whatever! But isn't it
      hard to wash out the oils with braids?

    • @suhairaboushoullieh685
      @suhairaboushoullieh685 6 років тому +3

      Destiny Thomas I think yeah. Anyway hope you are enjoying your braids, I'm sure you look amazing. Maybe give it a try after you take off your braids. Till then, slay them braids

      Destiny Thomas that's incorrect.... crochet braids allow access to the scalp. So rice water in spray bottle.... separate the section where your parts are. Spray the scalp then go to the next section. Also.....when it's time to wash.... it's easier with the rice water
