- The most complicated implementation of Lucasarts' iMUSE interactive music system ever created! I spent practically half the dev cycle iterating on this area alone.
Funny story: I met Michael Land, original composer of Monkey Island, at the Game Developers Conference in 2007! We had dinner with a bunch of other game audio people, and he recounted the story of how he put together Woodtick, with hundreds of possible transitions based on cue and bar. I thought to myself, "Wow that's cool- but I hope I never have to do anything like that if I wanna write for games!"
...three years later..... 🤣
Im surprised most AAA don't have a system like this. Really impressive!
this game is amazing.
Excellent work, thanks for the video on it :)
Came to this UA-cam channel, because of Helldiver 2 and now I’m nostalgic about iMuse and what a face melting tech that was back in the day!
I don’t know hat “No one lives forever 2” used, but it was also contextual. I hope Wilbert checks that out
Wow, thanks for sharing!
Rare had a system similar to this on the N64, most notably in DK64 and the Banjo games. I'm sure it's much easier to do with sampled instruments as opposed to live ones like here.
Yeah it was astonishingly difficult to pull off, especially considering we had to use XACT rather than a more modern system like Wwise. Even in Wwise it'd be tricky to manage all those hundreds of transition cues, but at least it'd be easier to test and wouldn't require as much custom code from programmers...!
Awesome.
Will we see the orchestra performance for mortal kombat 1? Because that goes extremely hard
I'm hoping they post it soon!
@@RogetMusic So it’s confirmed to be coming? That would be amazing
@@youngmetro3times849 It's already up! Check the official Mortal Kombat youtube channel 🙂
