Citation 200 keeps up well for half the price. Bought the beolit first after hearing it on a demo version in store. When i received it, was disappointed as it didnt compare to what i heard in store (didnt know plugging it in improves sound quality) Bought the citation for half the price. When plugged in, bass is powerful and can be overpowering. But you can adjust. For someone who is more tilted towards the low end, citation is good enough for half the price.
I literally canceled my Beolit 20 order after watching this. The HK seemed to sound better to me, although maybe a few details were clearer with the B&O. Here in the US, the Citation 200 is on sale for $129 which makes this a very easy decision vs the on-sale Beolit 20 at $399.
What separates the B&O is you can use the 3.5mm for lossless audio. In addition the app allows you to widen the soundstage by expanding the circle giving you a 3D effect.
@@wcharad I’m not sure if you’re asking if the type of aux cable matters or if an aux cable is necessary. To answer both, a stereo aux cable is what you’d want. Yes, an aux cable is necessary for lossless.
@@Mercy_Pants thanks, yes I know aux cable is needed, but like is there any specific type for aux that supports playing lossless? I want it for connecting my Aura Studio 4 to MacBook
The BO is higher fidelity while the HK is louder but not as clear. The sound is cheaper with the HK whereas the BO is definitely more refined to my ears. Great review my man.
@@BKFitness192 wattage doesnt mean anything, first o fall not every woofer has the same sensitivity, second fo all, each wooffer si diffferently made and tuned difffferentyl and that is why it is impossible to compare speakers via wattage, i have a pair of Focal's running off of a 45 watt rms marantz amp which can get louder than both of these speakers with about 2 watts and be more clear, human like and deeper than any off these.
not necessarily refined, it’s like they tried to get more that what the speakers they used are capable of doing, hence the lack of separation from mids and highs like the citation is doing but overall it’s a good speaker
When the HK is run with perhaps another HK (EQ settings balanced for room/placement) my questions are: 1) Upon connection to a Bluetooth Stereo recording of say, vocals on the left side and guitars on the right side of a sample recording, will the combination of the 2 HK's automatically separate out as absolute STEREO LEFT(vocals) & STEREO RIGHT(guitars) NOT an electronic L&R simulator but PURE LEFT & RIGHT. 2) If so, how does this work?...master-slave controlled or is it individually maintained via the bluetooth main sound source as in L & R separation send? 3) Or...will the HK's both be separately driving the same mono mix output (each HK pushing vocals and guitars) 4) Is there connection lag/delay between them if sending to 2 different HK's (synchronicity issues) Ok, now pondering thoughts like bypassing, hijacking or manipulating the assistant feature to add other external input options outside of "hey goobel" Most recordings these days include true stereo sound as standard, so a high, mid, low tweeter/driver combi like this HK C 200 may separate frequency better but does nothing for left or right separation as a mono output driver unit goes.
Great comparison! Keep up the good work. Which would be your pick between Citation 200, Beolit 20 or Sonos Move? I am looking at all 3 to replace my Huawei Sound and can't decide yet. Thanks!
Did anyone compare the Beolit 20 to the HK Onyx Studio 8 and the Citation 200? I am torn between the 3 as it seems like these are the best portable speakers on the market when it comes to high quality with loud sound and base. I am looking for loudness and quality at the same time. I bought the Beolit 20 but I am wondering if OnyxStudio8 or Citation200 (or anything else?) might be a better buy if I want the loudest and most crisp sound for the size? Please lmk thoughts.
Great video! As I own the HK for a while now, I wish you cound test them in stereo setup. I consider to buy anotherone, if it has a dramatical effect on sound stage and overal experience (not the loudness).
i plan to buy two citation 200 and trust me in Stereo volume and bass will go up with like 25-30 % ,it will be 100 pure wats at 80 % volume all your neigbors will hear you make party
That was really weird. I preferred the sound of the HK all the way up until full tilt then I preferred the B&O by quite a margin given how full it sounded (as far as I can tell in a YT video) I'm guessing it's just because the B&O at 40 is way quieter but reaches a much more comparable volume level when they both hit 90?
I think it’s because the Beolit wasn’t EQ’d properly. Listen to the first track again, notice that there’s some sort of mid-pass so you can’t hear the fullness of the mid range? So actually, I believe it’s the lack of the full frequency spectrum that makes the Beolit sound quieter. You hear it in track 2 too. I own a few B&O products, they seriously do not lack. Put them in the correct listening mode and the music will be loud, crisp, incredibly well rounded. I suspect that this speaker was left in “Optimal” mode or “Speech” mode, which cuts out a lot of frequencies.
My guess is that the difference is due to the HK being front-facing and the B&O being 360. The sound comes straight at the mic from the HK while sound is more diffusive around the room from the B&O.
@@jeremylozier7551 did you compare the Beolit 20 to the HK Onyx Studio 8 (and the Citation 200)? I am torn between the 3..I am looking for loudness and quality at the same time. Thoughts?
Citation 200 is front facing speaker, and when u recording the sound from it of course it would sound better, but who would put face always front of speaker. We always walking around the room, we listen to it from different angles. So it’s bit unfair for Beolit 20 for this comparison.
No, I own many HK speakers, their tech always make sound being surrounded even wherever you are. Even in my car, hard to realize where the speakers's locally
Well there's nothing I have to add on to the sound department great video as always but the beolit is wayyy to much for what it is HK for me even tho the battery sucks 😂😭☠
