- Hometown tour of St. John’s, Newfoundland! I’ll be showing you the house I grew up in, schools I attended and where I used to work before I packed up and moved to Toronto.
The most easterly province in Canada and the most easterly place in all of North America. There are lots of things to see and do in St. John’s and the rest of the province. I just covered a few places that are relevant in my life. If you love the outdoors, drinking or the ocean this is a place I highly recommend you check out. It is so incredibly unique, like no where else in the world. If you visit, go in August or September. Go at your own risk in the winter hahaha.

Samantha Jane yep! I'm from the bay though in southern harbour, haha
Janey Catherine have you ever visited America and England before?
If I shit in the kitchen - is it food?
"@@tied2dye1" you're a fraud, you're not actually Roger Waters.
I grew up in Toronto and the GTA. Very cool of you to show us around Newfoundland. Always happy to support my fellow Canadians!!
+Sammi Ho thanks so much sammi!!

I'm from Greenland, but I live in Denmark. This place looks very peaceful and I'd love to visit someday. Very nice video
I love the character of the old buildings and the jellybean houses! Thanks for the tour! ❤️
oxox

I hope you come back to Newfoundland soon and when you do, you should totally plan a meet up.
Courtney Mona you babeeee ❤️❤️
Great video Samantha. I lived and worked in St. John's for a year and absolutely loved the city. Great people and amazing views. I felt nostalgic watching your video. Hope to visit the city again soon.
Oh yay!! It is a great city :)
LOVE IT! Loved seeing where you grew up and went to school and hung out ☺️
Thanks LJ!
As I already said to you (but had to repeat it here for posterity), I loved this video so, SO much. It had the right mix of music, you, nostalgia and realness. Loved how you handled the tour and showing us the locations!
Thank you Chelle!!!!!
Oh so fun!! Thank you so much for making the video! Was so nice to see St. John's again!!! Man the hours I spent in Avalon mall. Was nice getting to know you!! So cool that you got to go back in the studio too!
hahahah right, oh man the times I had at the Avalon ..
Samantha Jane I was so excited that sephora was coming!
The ppl are amazing. So so kind. We were in cbs. Stunning
I'm from newfoundland but been living in Alberta for 2.5 years. I loved your little tour! I miss st John's.
Thanks so much for watching!!
YAYYYYYYY What a beautiful video! My husband and I moved to Halifax from Calgary recently and everyday we fall more in love with the East Coast. I can't wait to go visit Newfoundland!
Hope you enjoy it!!!
Great tour, I have completely fallen in love with St John Newfoundland, such a beautiful and historic city and I hear that the winters can be nice and brutal 😀
I watched your video 2 years ago before I arrived St. John's. When I had a car, I drove the same route that you showed. I really love this city and this video help me alot to discover it. Appreciate it.
So happy to hear it, really glad it was helpful!
This video was so much fun to watch! Thanks for taking us along on your trip down Memory Lane with you! St. John's is really cool - love those "jelly bean houses!"
(I always assumed you were born/raised in Toronto). While life takes us elsewhere, it's always nice to go back "home."
Would have loved to have Kitty-sat/Spoiled Roux for you while you were away! I'll bet she missed you lots!
Much love from Brantford! 😊
She missed me a lot and drove my boyfriend CRAZY looking for cuddles hahah
Hey girl, we miss you at work. Nice to see the channel doing so well!
Hi, St. Johns was my old stomping ground growing up. My uncle owned Hunts Variety in Churchill Square, haven't thought of that in years. Thanks for the memories. Signal hill was always a blast for climbing. Remember the Strand, the one on Water St. Was the best one. MAC BARFOOT ( CRAZY CLYDE ) played drums and that place rocked . THANKS AGAIN.
Loved taking this trip with you Samantha, to revisit your hometown! Those rows of jelly bean houses were so cool, they seemed to go on forever! Still can't imagine you selling cars, lol! Never been to NF, but I was a flight attendant for for 19 years and truly miss my Toronto layovers and Vancouver as well! I'm from Ohio but you got a friend in Chicago now, because that's where I live now!❌⭕️😘
I am DYING to go to Chicago, might be in September or October, I'd love some recommendations
I was born in Montreal, Quebec but was raised in a town just outside of the city. Id love to visit Newfoundland one day. And the rest of Canada tbh
So expensive to fly within Canada, I'd love to see more!
I know right? I'd love to fly out to BC to visit my friend but the prices are outrageous. I did travel to New Brunswick recently by car so at least I got to see a new province for a reasonable price :)
Amazing vídeo Samantha! Thank you!!!
What a picturesque town! Thanks for the tour. I was born in the Philippines but grew up in Montreal and now live in Toronto.
Thanks so much!!
Nice comment
toronto sucks
@@tied2dye1 you're a troll
Enjoyed watching your video from Hickory, North Carolina. I would love to visit Newfoundland. Yes I did wear a uniform in Military school!
Yay Ash! Lol Loved the hometown video. The downtown area was bigger than I expected. Looks quaint and relaxing though (now that I'm nearing 40 I like quaint, but I can understand needing to spread your wings to TO).
hahah yah it is quaint and loud at the same time, well the people are loud ahah
Love the vlog!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for the tour. We went on a trip to Nova Scotia a couple of years ago but would love to tour Newfoundland some day. My late son went on a Jamboree with the Boy Scouts years ago and he loved it. The pictures he brought back were amazing.
Thanks so much for watching!!!
Thanks for the tour! I had no idea you were from NL! My father's family is from Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. I've been to St. John's twice to visit family and loved it! Such a beautiful city! I was in Cornerbrook 2 months ago and am already missing it!
Loved the West Coast!!!

Hi Talha can I speak with you In insta or any other social media platforms where we can get in a touch.
I love that you did this video! Well done! Hope you had a good time visiting your hometown 💗 My family bounced around a bit when I was young (still do actually lol) so I spent most of my time in the Northern Neck of Virginia and outside a small town in Northeast Nebraska (Verdigre). Virginia always felt like home though.
Thanks so much! Virginia is beautiful! I spent a lot of time in Charlottesville last year for work :)
Samantha Jane I love Charlottesville! We go out that way to go Apple picking in the fall. It's a nice little tradition 😆❤
Really cool video! Nice to see where you grew up 😊
Thanks so much!!

I enjoy learning about the diverse communities in Canada. Newfoundland sounds like an interesting country.
I’m also a ‘townie’ now living in Ontario (southern Georgian Bay Area). Also grew up in the East End, near ‘the lake’. Thanks for sharing your video. I can’t wait to head home this summer!

Love this! I live just off lemarchant road and girl I know you know that road . My kiddo and i walk dt all the time.
Amazing!!
Thanks for the tour, as a Torontonian, born and bred, having lived here all of my 50 years, I’m really getting fed up with how big the city is getting, how crowded it is and how insanely expensive it is, not to mention the extreme poverty and high crime rate that is always on the rise. I do love my city, but I’m getting really fed up with taking five times as long just to go down the street, because our infrastructure is falling apart, as we received over 110,000 new citizens each year, and I need to change before I go crazy! I’ve travelled all over Canada, and have been to the most western eastern and southern points of this nation, but have never had the chance to get out to Newfoundland, particularly, St. John’s. I have a very large family in the East Coast, my mother is from a small town in Nova Scotia, called Antigonish, about a 2 Hour drive north of Halifax, And I absolutely love going there. My mom comes from a very large family, I swear to God I’m related to the entire town, and every time I go there, I never want to come back to Toronto, because the people there are just so loving and warm and caring, and will go out of their way, just to make you feel welcome, not so in Toronto. Here, if you even look at somebody, you’ll either get a dirty look, or are totally ignored, and that’s if you’re lucky! Frankly I’m getting fed up with it, and I’m thinking of leaving my hometown for the first time in my life at the age of 50. I was in Halifax last summer visiting family, I couldn’t believe how much it has grown itself, but it still maintains that unique east coast charm, and small town feeling in a good sized city, while I was in Halifax last summer visiting family, I couldn’t believe how much it has grown itself, but it still maintains that unique East Coast charm, and small town feeling in a pretty big city.... well, big by East Coast standards. It’s not even 500,000 people, but because their city Council actually has a brain, unlike the Toronto city Council, they refuse to allow their city to be overwhelmed by gigantic sun blocking skyscrapers like they have here in Toronto. As a result, instead of building up they have built out, allowing the downtown core to keep it’s somewhat small town charm, and I just fell in love with it. After watching your video, I think I’m gonna love Saint johns even more, it’s a very unique city, unlike any other in Canada, and because I’m already retired, as I was forced to quit working at 46 due to my health, I can move anywhere I want, provided I can get healthcare. Not sure if you actually check the responses to your video, but if you do, could you please recommend the best areas to live in, and the average price of a home/apartment. I’m desperate to get away from Toronto, it’s just too big now, too loud, too crowded, too cold and unfriendly, not to mention the soaring crime rate, poverty and homelessness, and zero affordable housing. I want to spend what time I have left in this world in a place where I can just breathe, and be happy, I think I may just fall in love with your hometown, so any and all advice you can offer, or anyone else can offer, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for the video!
I wanna know your place sounds great! Could you tell some about for older people?
Cool, really want to road trip up there, thanks Tony Lopez Band 😀
it's a great place!
Adorable!! Elliott was born in Grand falls Windsor, always a special place in our heart! 🖤
Aw yay!!! It's a special place for sure
Next time I'm on the east coast I need to make the trip to Newfoundland. It's one of the only provinces in our great country I haven't visited. One of the best things about the east coast is the colourful houses. So gorgeous.
Oh yes you have to!!
I'm from here and still live here! There has been a lot of changes to the Avalon Mall since your video tour.
So cool to see where you come from. Very pretty place! I'm from San Antonio TX, I would say the best part of San Antonio is the people. Super laid back and friendly. I've been all over the USA, but no one has more better peeps then San Antonio. I think the attitude is just built into the Hispanic culture to be welcoming here. So if your ever in Texas, pay it a visit.
Thanks so much for watching!!! San Antonio looks great
So cool! I traveled to Vancouver in '10 but that's the only part of Canada I've ever seen (despite living 6 hours from Winnipeg), so this was awesome. I love seeing and visiting different places.
I was born in southern New Jersey, the Cape May/Wildwood area, then moved to the piedmont region of North Carolina, then the Appalachians in Virginia, and finished out my childhood in rural North Dakota near the South Dakota border. I now live and work in the third largest city in South Dakota (which isn't saying much). Very flat, much corn/wheat fields.
Very flat is the opposite of NL!
I'll be there soon...in a month or so.....the place is lovely 😍😍😍😍
Yay!
Thank you for providing good information.
Could you introduce me some websites for renting a room or flat-share please?
You went to Holy Heart!?!? That's so cool! My school goes to watch their musicals.
awesome!!
I only ever been to Newfoundland once but I am from Halifax and you are one of my favourite Canadian you tubers.
Thank you so much!!
Hi! I love your video, I'm going to study in Memorial University next semester and I saw you studied there too! how was your experience there?
it was great!
I really enjoyed this video! I'm born and raised in Toronto and the only other province I have been to is Quebec. I am really intrigued by this video! I plan to go to Halifax in the near future but now I think I want to explore more of the east coast! It looks so different in NFLD (in a good way). Anyhow, thank you for sharing:)! BTW, there is Mary Browns in Toronto just in case you didn't know and yes they are the absolute best!! I love their chicken, taters and chicken sandwiches!
+NixxNine yes!!! It's so far from me though, cannot justify like an hour on the bus, and they have hot sauce there which would NOT fly in Newfoundland ahhaha spicy food is not an NL thing - east coast is amazing, if you go to NL the west coast of the island is freaking amazing, so much nature like I've never seen before
NixxNine 😲 I don't have to travel to Newfoundland to try it? Thanks for the info. Will definitely try Mary Browns when I'm next in TO
+Jessica P let me know what you think!!
+Jessica P There are other Mary Browns locations in Southern Ontario too. I live in Waterloo and there are 3 here that I know of. If you want to try it out (which you should, in my opinion) then I suggest googling to see the closest location to you :)
NixxNine have you ever been to America?
Born in Ontario, grew up in Kingston Jamaica, came back to live in Toronto and visited Newfoundland 2 weeks ago for the 1st time! Had a blast and ate a Ton of fish n' chips but no Mary Browns. I loved jelly bean row! We went to Cape spear, signal hill, mallard cottage, Johnson GEO centre and also went whale watching. We were such tourists, it was great!
Ugh all the fish and chips, I had some of that too while I was back. Sounds like you hit all the great places!!
Hey. I had to wear uniforms. In Brazil it is common. Mine was green shorts and a white t-shirt. later on, it was grey and green. Very slytherin ahahaah
hahaha!!
Love st.johns lived their for 5 years and go their now 2 n 3 times a month love that place xox Samantha
+Stephanie Cooper oh wow that's awesome! You're still in NL then I assume?
Samantha Jane yes out towards gander that area
East coast best coast!! Love this!!
thanks so much!!
Sad times when Big Bite flooded ☹️ Hope you enjoyed your trip home! Loved the video
Flooded ?? Oh no!! And then the business just went under? Such a staple.
The entire building sadly, all the stores had to close.
Awesome. I wanna be in Newfoundland
Now I want to visit!
+Joëlle Anello the "jellybean" houses scream insta pic, there's one that's mint with a pink door .. if you go I'll give you the address hahah
Do people in Newfoundland, specifically st johns, have to have cars or are they able to survive without them? Cause it seems very small
I mean you don’t have to have one but in my opinion it’s very much a driving city, it’s not small enough that you’d walk everywhere
The public transit system in St. John's isn't very good (runs basically from 7 AM to 11:30 PM and that's not even all of the routes) and given the population the city is very spread out.
Love this :)
Thanks Victoria!!
I'm going to to have a summer home the someday! Beautiful city.
amazing!
I live in St. John's too! And so glad to see a youtuber from here!! ^u^
You got yourself a new sub! :)
Thanks so much!
You’re welcome! ^^
Great hometown bio! You were on the Dean's List? So that's where the hustle comes from! Played soccer... does Chelle know? 🙊
I would love to visit other Canadian provinces, NFLD is definitely on the list.
I'm a Montrealer, I think you're familiar with Osheaga? 😉 I'm more of a JazzFest gal. 🎷
hahahah Chelle knows I'll never play again ;)
Can international students get part time jobs there while studying in memorial University?
What is there to do there? Cause I’m thinking of going on holiday their in November. The reason I want to go in November because I heard it gets like 2 and a half feet of snow, and being from Cumbria, England I’m lucky to get an inch of snow a year and I fucking love snow soooo.
i think you did a great job with this video. I live in Conception Bay South. :)
Thanks so much!!
I am from Ontario. Have visited B.C. and Quebec but never NFLD. Should put that on my list.
Btw...no link to Ashley's channel in description. ;)
Oh whoops!! Thanks so much, updated.
