Rocketeer also gets its deadzone range lowered on lvl 3 and 4 too. It's now 10 units instead of 12, meaning that it's a bit easier to get a spot to place them now.
You should make a tierlist of all the towers based on your ranking, like rocketeer in low a tier
im giving it a high A tier
mortar is good for crowds but now rocketeer is now good for back line defense or even single dps due to its insane range and combining it with lvl 5 dj it can be back of the map and shoot enemies from there like a mini ranger
Oh cool i was asking for this in the last two video's not all the towers but my favorite tower at least
for the smaller explosions, you can use a cryomancer or any slow/stun tower to make the DPS better
I think rocketeer still needs a bit of work to be noticeably good, but especially for its obtaining criteria compared to mortar I'd say that this was a good change.
i feel like the deadzone should only be used for the artillery upgrade
Nah I don’t want to guesstimate where rocketeer should be places so it’s dead zone doesn’t touch the path

Having lack of HD doesn't really affect mortar, since the explosion can still hit hidden enemies
even if mortar can't kill it, other DPS tower can
great for intermediate mode, good sibgle target DPS and has good crowd control capabilities
i remember when rocketeer was meta we used to spam the dark matter rocketeer skin in every fallen game
they made the dark matter rocketeer dirty just like the blue ranger and the kasodus cowboy

If you have both you're good if you have drugs and mortar you're fine if you just have Rocketeer you're fine. Also if you're having trouble finding a good place for a Rocketeer if you're on a map that's pretty long but you still want this Rocketeer not to have a dead zone near the path put it off to the side a bit further than you would with other towers
rocketeer just really needs to get a whole rework bc rn it feels outdated and so underpowered
BUT tds is going for a more spammy approach with the enemies as we saw from the new gamemode so maybe eventually after we get gamemode reworks he will be really useful to counter crowds

As a side note, lvl 4 mortar and above does splash in such a large radius that even though it can’t actually detect hiddens it can still take care of them
The day the update came out I saw someone in the lobby say "When will we get a rocketeer buff?" And I know that he was so stoked within the next couple of hours. (It was before the update dropped)

I get dead zone is meant to be a balancing factor for certain units, but it makes no sense for units like demo man, if I can throw a shrapnel grenade 6 inches away from me, then I should be able to shoot an explosive rocket 2 feet away from me.
I think a Grenade and Rocket explosion would be way different but I see your point, Demo man probably should have his own dead zone range

My guy is better than some golden towers.
Well the buff was really needed since barely anyone uses rocketeer
all splash damage towers suck, in other tower defense games, heavy single target is not able to deal with crowds of enemies, but in tds you can get 10 billion minigunners and kill everything
Crazy to think about the fact that a tower that used to have a less max level dps than Paintballer now has almost as much single target dps as max level Minigunner

The thing is aswell, mortar has pretty much the same range and firerate, but 12 dmg, meaning that a rocketeer is better than 3 mortars combined ( in terms of dmg ) with a higher placement limit, i think thats a W

deadzone really reduce the maximum range rocketeer and punish bad placement
im putting this tower on B tier
to be honest, the splash radius isn't much more hit with so many enemies, especially first target mode
the dps and fire rate is good but the range isn't enough, like bro the max level is absolutely artillery, and artillery suppose to be long range distance and i thought this tower suppose to be back line defense
It definetly needs bigger range since it’s an artillery
On the other hand it has the highest ground range in the game with a whopping 28!!! I think it’s best if we avoid logic.

the rocketeer is the only unlockable tower i dont have, every single hardcore tower and a few event towers i have but so far i dont have this one. might change soon who knows
At first i thought nothing changed much just only the intermediate mode until i realize Shotguneer is more cheaper military base cost 4k instead of 2.5k and rocketeer used to be 2.5k now 2k in the game 'my sis had enough for military base until this update😂😅'

If you have all other important towers such as dj, Commander, farms, ace pilot, ranger and minigunner, then go for it. But otherwise as a new player you should prioritize buying other towers

fun fact: multi-target dps is spread across multiple enemies so avg dps would only work on rng towers
just incase yall blindly follow him and dont listen to anybody else, spread across multple enemies means the dps is divided between them, not all of them magically get increased dps

They should remove the deadzone and make it deal more damage to the enemy it hits directly
personally that might seem a little too much since removing its deadzone while adding more dmg would make it better than mortar.
Mortar’s still better imo, but this does make rocketeer a viable option for certain modes
