Ah I miss Ventura! I used to go to a doctor right by this shop, it always gave me a good excuse to check out records. Glad that he is doing well still!
I went to Ventura twice. The first time I went I dropped of an obscure LP (Rev. Frederik Skotek) to get transferred on to CD and I did it here at Grady's. He was a nice guy and we had a short conversation on Brian Eno. The second time, when I went to pick up the CD, he wasn't there and that kind of sucked.
If I had to spend an entire day in just one shop in California... well in Ventura, California... on Main Street... more specifically 2546 East Main Street, Ventura- it would definitely have to be Grady's Record Refuge. Now I think I better go check out the "Is It A Good Idea to Microwave Vinyl Records?" in the "Related Videos" section. I hope it is related to Ross' video through incest. Then I will call The Fuge and ask Grady if he is holding any Stanky Brown records at the moment.
i would love to own my own record store just because its cool. too bad internet has severly hurt the business's and big corporations like walmart, best buy ect.
OH WOWWWW 10 years?? I've been collecting records since your parents were virgins, newbie. You're a Johnny Come Lately who still doesn't know shit about records.
+nefty73 Records can be enjoyed many ways. Some of them should be never played. Only goofed on. I've bought many records from Grady just because they are mind bogglingly crappy. Sounds like great salesmanship to me. I bought something terrible just because Grady pointed out how amazingly awful it was. I'm not alone in that either. He's actually a sales genius.
Grady's Record Refuge is THE BEST record store in Ventura County.
14 years ago...Google Street Image Capture from 2022 shows the store is still there. Looks like fun. Opened 6 years ago so Grady is hardcore!
What a genuine person.
Thank you for introducing me to Stunt Rock.
Grady will talk about music forever he doesn't care if he sells you anything. He just loves music.
My neighbor got drunk and took a dump on my turntable......
Cool video. The Lav Mic clip is genius! Im going to use that.

Never seen Grady up close, the guy's a dude! How could the man behind Liquorball and Monoshock not be cool as fuck.
He was in Monoshock? Great band and tunes!
hate that stores put stickers on the cover - real pain in the ass to remove.
I know record stores are about the fun of music...but goofing on albums your store carries in a documentary? Not good salesmanship.
***** now why would I wanna do that when I have idiots like you to laugh at?
