@@swapnilsaha7629 it's good for the price, but it won't blow your mind. you can eq it with Equalizer APO and it will sound significantly better, but still not as good and resolving as a decent pair of headphones. But for a gaming headset I find it very comfortable, very good noise isolation, sounds good with proper eq, and the mic is really good for a headset.
I used a Kraken for more than 5 years and the headset and splitter cable still works fine. BUT I can confirm that the splitter makes the sound worser. I personally think that's because of the increased range the signal has to travel and the fact that it's not intended to be splitted. Anyways Razer provides a lot of USB Headsets by now and they just work fine for me
U gotta plug the audio jack into the splitter really hard for it to fully be in , I used to not do that and the sound was worse but when I did that it worked
Seems like Razer released a new version of Blackshark V2x which is called Blackshark V2 X USB, it uses a USB cable instead of 3.5mm, and also cost $20 more compared with 3.5mm version. I was wondering which one to choose and after watching this video I decided to go with the USB version. Thank you sir.
Thankyou for the vid, that part about the guy putting the cable in the other end of the PC was spot on for me, my mic was horrible until i stumbled onto this vid and gave it a try.
I puchased a Blackshark V2x (included a usb sound card) .. same issue. Voice sounded identically crappy. I just tried plugging directly into the headphone jack on the side of my laptop (MSI GE76 Raider) and viola - great sound. So the included usb sound card is the culprit somehow, but I can't be bothered to troubleshoot. My laptop is state of the art in 2022, I have a brand new headset, the drivers are up to date. I dunno Razer maybe try not making a USB sound card smaller than a stick of gum?? What is the point of the USB sound card anyhow?
I'm a bit late to the conversation here, but this past Fed (2022) I purchased the Blackshark V2 + USB Sound Card and my voice recording sounds identical to your video - so the USB Sound Card, on my PC at least, did not improve the microphone sound. I have also spent the last week - hours upon hours, trying to troubleshoot this issue with no luck. I'm convinced this headset is not good for voice recording - great as a headset and using your voice on Discord, but for recording your voice (for video use), it's utter crap!
Ok for those asking what kind of USB soundcard to use in order to fix this "MIC SITUATION". JUST USE ANY GENERIC USB SOUNDCARD. My soundcard doesn't even have a brand. It just says "Soundcard". My primary suspect was the ground in both of the ports of the motherboard so an external soundcard will fix it since it won't have direct contact to the port (Motherboard). It sounds great now.
The only issue I've ever had with my Blackshark V2 is the fact my cat ate the rubberized cable and the cable is super prone to getting tangled on itself...
Just got the black shark v2 x. The sound quality is absolutely great. Very crisp. The mic on the other hand is absolutely atrocious. When I first used it me and my friends burst out in laughter at how bad it was. Probably gonna get a new splitter cable.
I think the reason of the mic sound quality its because of your integrated sound card of your motherboard. I don't know what motherboard do you have, but since its a jack headset it depends entirely in your motherboard integrated sound card.
I also think that It's probably because of his integrated sound card. Razer can't really do anything to fix this. This is a common problem with headphones using a 3,5mm connection.
About three to four days ago people have commented how my mic quality became terrible and extremely low quality garbage, and watching your video and recorded audio, that seems awfully similar to what happened to mine. I'll be checking out about the splitter cable because i have no idea what happened, thanks my dude
Idk if this is just me, but if you have an ear that is small or if your a kid. The headphones might cause your ear to feel really sore. I am currently experiencing the issue and it is very painful. This only happens if you wear it for a long time. The only way to get rid of the swelling is to not wear them for a week or so.
after 2 years with this headset got it to work somehow with high definition driver instead of realtek. but still sound leak through mic even tried diffrent splitter. so my conclusion is that this headset just isnt compatible with pc. all of my friends have it on console and it works with no problems. so or find a spliter that will work for you or just buy diffrent headset. i recomend on corsair void elite usb. very comfortable on the head not pressing the head hard. and sounds great for the price. and no connectivity issues.
The terrible mic is a model problem from what I researched. It strangely only works well with Windows native drivers (pretty well tbh). I got mine from a Razer Bundle, exact same issue. I'm using a Hyperx splitter, same problem. In my old and new PC I had the same issue (both mobos made by Gigabyte, with a really good construction), and I used so many different mics here without issues for 8 YEARS (OneOdio A71 and many cheap headsets/mics.. all without mic problems on realtek drivers). Pay attention to your damn QA, Razer... besides this, the headset is good, but don't pay too much for it.
I've had one pair for 6 months and just bought a backup while on sale. Both work flawlessly bit I do not use the splitter cable as it's not needed for my Xbox.
Its not the splitter cable. Its how sound is picked up by the system as cheap motherboards don't have better sound hardware in them (issue caused by electrical interference etc as the jack operates as analog among one thing that springs to mind). There is simple solution like using a noise cancellation software like Krisp or RTX voice for nvidia gpu users. This will fix the issue.
device manager -Sound, video and game controllers -realtek audio (right click-update driver) -browse my computer for drivers -let me pick from a list of available driver on my computer -high definition audio device when i did this, my headset completely stopped audio output, but the microphone still worked. why?
thankfully the ones i bought were great, no problems. My friend bought these after i recommended them to him, and they came out worse than yours. The mic was really bad and he had to return them
like many have expressed thank you for the honest review of the headset. A lot of the reviews i've seen on youtube have embellished the product a bit that it seemed too good to be true. still seems like a worth while product for the price range.
It’s gotta be a production issue. Companies partner with distributors who cut deals to use companies’ designs to massively produce their product. Because of how long this has been on the market, I would imagine that somewhere along the line, the distributors thought they could pass it with some other material. Things that are less conductive or not insulating the wires well enough. I’m about to get 2. For my channel
I'm wondering why you didn't get a headset without a mic, if you already have a mic then get headphones because then the manufactures will spend more money on the sound and build quality of the headphones other then spending it mostly on the mic.
I had the Kraken X (sadly the headband snapped) and some of the spiltter cable issues you spoke of affect that headset too. If it wasn't correctly inserted the audio would only play in one ear and the mic wouldn't work. This shows that Razer's splitter cables are unreliable. That being the case I would like to know what makes a splitter cable good? Any insight is more than welcome.
You are a life saver!!! The splitter cable is so bad, I almost returned the whole headset. I had a USB audio splitter from another Razer headset ...RIP ...and that fixed it!!! Thank you 👍
[I FIXED MY MIC] This video gave me an idea to plug it into my motherboard instead of my front panel and it fixed the low mic audio and fixed the distortion. So much louder too! EDIT* Not just my mic but I think my headphone sound is enhanced also? I removed 7.1 driver because I don't want it. TLDR; I removed my splitter from the front panel into the back of my motherboard.
I purchased the "courage JD" version, and it doesn't even come with the splitter cable, which i suspect is why my mic isn't working at ALL. I've tried everything in this video, and nothing works. I decided to purchase a separate splitter cable to see if that works. I tried connecting through the USB sound card, and still nothing. I'm extremely disappointed with the mic issues, and hope i can get it to work when i get the splitter. My old Logitech G430s worked perfectly fine, but i thought these would be more comfortable.
I had the same problem with my old Siberia V2 after a couple of years of using it. So I bought an Arctis 3: same thing happened. I tried everything, so I thought my motherboard is probably causing it. Later I did switch my CPU with that my MB too, but the problem still existed. I even tried using them through a 2.1 speaker's built in extender cable but nothing. Eventually I bought an external USB mic but I already did develop the habit to basically shout while playing with friends. If anyone knows why this is happening please let me know. EDIT: possible solution below.
Now that I read the comments I do remember a sort of solution, I think the headphones didn't get enough power maybe. Not using splitter cables, and lowering the headset volume helped I think. AKA: go 100% headphone volume in windows, and 70-80% on your headphone's actual adjuster, instead of 100% on the adjuster and 50% in windows. This would make scene because my old Siberia's adjuster went really broke, so I 100%'d it and started using window's adjuster, and when I bought the Arctis, on one hand I already had this habbit, and on the other hand I didn't want to use it so much so that it'd broke as well. Also both of my motherboards were the "f*cking loud type of" motherboards by default, maybe there's a pattern idk.
@@Dipidoodle Yea I mean this made me so mad at one point that I bought an external mike that cost more than my actual headphone did, so I'm not going to start thinkering with it anymore but someone might find a semi-ok solution with this info.

Hello friend, how are you? I wanted to ask you how long the cable is with the splitter cable included, and without it? Thanks bro for the video. Saludos de Argentina!!
When I first bought the headset, it was working perfectly but after I plugged on my PC the mic stopped working. I can't talk in game and i tried everything but end up with no result. Restarted my PC a few times but still nothing. One day later, I tried again and somehow I can use the mic on my PC but it's very low. It's about 4% out of 100% volume.... I'm about done with the headset and maybe buy a different one and see if it just my PC or the headset
I have the same headset and sometimes use it on my phone for calls, usually it's fine but sometimes people on the other end complain that they are hearing a lot of mechanical noises and distortion, however I don't use the splitter at all. And in any app that I can record my voice in the mic always sounds really good on my end. This plastic headset unfortunately makes lots of creaking sounds when I move my head or jaw that transmit loudly back into my own hearing, I thought maybe the creaking was causing the sound issues in the mic but again when I test it on my own recordings it's not an issue at all.
I have the same one and I'm using it on my laptop (without the splitter) and I like everything about it except that the mic is not removable buy anyways
I play with 30 volume, but I feel that the Blackshark v2x is not good at low sounds. It is recommended to connect only 1 jack and remove the splitter cable on the board.
Yup probably that, just updated my setup to a pretty high end pc and monitor, so wanted to save a buck on a headset. Got this wonderful headset for 30$, don’t even need the splitter+ it sounds better than my blu jeti. But tested it on my 6 year old computer and it sounded really crappy then
I already bought this headset. I had seen many reviews saying it was really good, and I had bought it after 2 weeks. I am now very scared that I will be disappointed.
What are the specs of your pc? My motherboard is a Asrock b450 :C. I'm interested too, but what concerns me more is the quality of the sound, i'm fine with mic problems because i can do things to improve it but quality sound is more hard to deal.
I got a razer nari wireless and a steel series arctis 7 wireless and the bad news is, they have only lasted me 1 year and a bit for both of them. But they were the best headsets I've ever used, the steel series was definitely my favourite becausd it was the smallest and most comfortable. Going to get the razer blackshark wired as they say it's the best most affordable headset you can have right now.
I was using this headset with the included splitter on my old PC i always used the front i/o and the mic sounded perfect all the time but then i got myself a new pc and now i'm having the same issue as in this video. however what i have noticed is that if i plug it into the front i/o it sounds exactly like in this video but if i plug it into the back i/o then it sound better, it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as it used to sound on my old pc but at least its understandable and i don't need to use the mic boost. I'm still looking for a permanent solution. i'm 90% sure that this is more of a motherboard related problem.
@@swapnilsaha7629 the headset itself sounds great. Would recommend using razer suround sound +Dolby Atmos for even better sound quality. Ps I did not find the solution for the mic I just had to buy a standalone mic

I have a steelseries and the black shark, they have the exact same problem as you so it’s probably something to do with the pc. Maybe wireless would work better
ur friends audio was so clear because of discord it might have partially been because of the splitter but discord has noise suppression and audio quality options that makes ur mic sound alot better. Also the boost problem u where having just turn it halfway or a little over it doesnt need to be max thats also something you can change in discord if needed btw
Wanted to buy this, but this review stopped me lol. Can u suggest any headset u are using or that is pretty good and comfy? Mine hurts my ears very much 😢 BTW thank you 👍
That really depends on your headshape so i dont know what i would reccommended, also this is only like my second pair of headphones ever, so i also haven't had a whole lot of experience with other headphones. But i know headphones that are on sale rn that have good or decent reviews: www.amazon.ca/dp/B07SJHG1MJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_VZ9WNXCCM6KBRANB97C5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 The steelseries arctis 1 (its a Canadian link tho)
It depends on your motherboard's integrated sound card, if its a good one you can buy any type of headset, jack headset or with a external sound card and it will sound perfectly well, but if you don't have a good hardware, just go with the headsets that has sound card because it works as an external sound card.
I faced same issues when using similar spliter cables , tried many settings but looks like some hardware issues as the same setup works fine on my friend’s pc. So i always use usb headphones
I really recommend razer black shark v2 over razer blackshark v2 x cuz I think with black shark v2 there is a bundle where you can buy black shark v2 with soundcard which makes the price increase by 40 dollars and the soundcard really makes the audio 10 times better and not just that there is a grab bag for outdoor usage and a detachable mic which is a pretty good deal for 100 usd
A soundcard will likely resolve the majority of issues here, as the PC the device is connected to isn't properly grounded. Could be the surge protector at fault, could be the wiring in the household (lazy bastards didn't properly install the ground wire) etc... Also, using a wireless headset bypasses this problem as well.
being very honest Kotion G7000 is the only headset which I loved the most. I have bought this product 4 times and its no more available in India. I upgraded to razer V2 as well.
This issue is related to laptop or desktop hardwares. I am using same headset connected to a docker. Mic sounds good. But it captures too much outer noise also.
I think I found the solution, at least it works for me, u just right click the windows logo and click into the option of device manger... then dropdown the option of sound, video and game controllers and right click into NVIDIA high definition audio... then update driver, browse my computer for drivers... let me pick from a list of avilable drivers and select high definition audio device and click next and restart
Just bought them today and the mic doesn't work with the splitting cable. It's very strange because if I plug the splitter to my pc, and the razer headset, microphone is not working. But if I plug my earphones to the splitter, it does, both microphone and speakers works perfectly. So it's not a problem with the splitter, nor of my pc. Then where's the problem, the headset itself? No, because if I use them plugged directly on my phone, everything works. I've looked on internet to find something but nothing works so I found a temporary solution until I buy a new splitter, because it might be the problem between the headphones jack and the original splitting cable... Anyway at the moment I'm using them on my pc by connecting them to my ps4 controller, which is plugged to the pc via usb cable... And they works as they should(despite the fact that you can't use the 7.1 surround, but you still hear left and right sounds). I have no idea of what the problem could be but I can guess that since in the box they were already plugged to the splitter maybe this causes some sort of distortion between them. So weird...
I haven’t had any issues up until recently. All of a sudden my mic STOPPED working. Did a whole bunch of things and ended up buying a stand alone mic. (I’ve had this blackshark V2 for about 2 years)
So to anyone who recently bought this headset and is wondering what is wrong, try using a different splitter cable if you happen to have one and that might fix your problem. Or as i was suggested in the comments, maybe hook up a cheap external sound card.

I used a Kraken for more than 5 years and the headset and splitter cable still works fine. BUT I can confirm that the splitter makes the sound worser. I personally think that's because of the increased range the signal has to travel and the fact that it's not intended to be splitted. Anyways Razer provides a lot of USB Headsets by now and they just work fine for me
My splitter doesn't do shi* on my PC. It's pretty much useless...

If you have a sound card i dont think its gonna be a big problem
Wish i read this comment before buying the regular BS V2X 😭, Now im reading this with a faulty mic and waiting for my USB sound card to deliver.

Will try this out!
Probably gonna get a new splitter cable.
is it comfortable? how big are your ears?
did you get it working better? i have the same problem atm and my friends are roasting me :(
Dont give up bro u have come so far
I think the reason of the mic sound quality its because of your integrated sound card of your motherboard. I don't know what motherboard do you have, but since its a jack headset it depends entirely in your motherboard integrated sound card.
I also think that It's probably because of his integrated sound card. Razer can't really do anything to fix this. This is a common problem with headphones using a 3,5mm connection.
Yup he need to use some usb basic soundcard like this one that hyperx provides with cloud 2
Can someone tell me a good external sound card to use with these headphones?
His PC is definitely the problem. He should have ruled it out first before concluding that the cables are the culprit

This will fix the issue.

like many have expressed thank you for the honest review of the headset.
I am also experiencing the same problem right now, the mic quality is really distorted and muffled. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Onto something maybe? 🧐🤔

So weird...
