After months of work I'm happy to finally share with you my biggest, most ambitious project to date: Pokémon Colosseum!
First off, thanks to the talented guests who contributed. Be sure to check them out:
Marc Papeghin (French Horn & Trumpet): / marcpapeghin
SongeLeReveur (Low Whistle): / songelereveur
Sebastian Freij (Cello): / freijman
What was I thinking getting into this? I suppose I felt it was time to give myself a challenge. I wanted to create something different from a standard video game cover. I wanted to do something over-the-top, epic, extraordinary, while at the same time conveying the overall mood of the game as accurately as possible in one giant yet compact medley. And a challenge it was. I really pushed my arranging, playing, recording, mixing, and production skills to new places with this one. I feel that coming out of this, I have improved significantly in all these areas.
So why Pokémon Colosseum? Out of all the games that I've played, Colosseum had a soundtrack that really stood out to me. It has a distinctive, unifying mood to it, something that isn't easy to accomplish in a video game soundtrack. Another feature that really unifies the soundtrack is the sharing of small motifs across the different tracks. Not immediately noticeable though, but enough to subconsciously make the correlation. And of course it has some bitchin' guitar solos. Many thanks to Mr. Tsukasa Tawada for composing this fine music, it was truly a pleasure to play.

excellent! excellent! excellent!
It is a wonderful play.
The taste of my original music is maintained.
Thank you very much.
I love you all !!
I love your compositions for Pokémon Colosseum, XD and Shuffle. Thank you so much for your work!
Did the student overtake the master? ^^
You know you did a good job when the original artist gives you praise.
This game has the best soundtrack of any Pokémon game hands down. Can't thank you enough for this masterpiece.
Tsukasa Tawada Thank you for making an amazing soundtrack for Colosseum and XD they are my childhood games and the music makes them all the more memorable
An absolute joy to listen to from beginning to end! I'm off to go listen to your other work!
And this explains why you had multiple tracks of his in the 10 year video!
I dont know how I didnt notice that you commented but it's good to see you
7 years ago, heh Emile - feeling old yet? :)
CHUGGAACONROY!
Corona, mah boooiiiiiiiiii!
Transition from Pyrite Town to The Under made me weep slightly.
Hi, how's it going?
Yeah, that was fucking sick :)
The transition from the main menu theme to the Shadow Pokémon Lab at 2:15 really grabbed my attention.
Hey a famous person agrees with me!
I like it it is really cool
9 years later and it’s still a banger 💪. Fr this game is criminally underrated and under appreciated.
I love these games. Why aren't they beloved by all?
Gen 3 was an absolute masterpiece every single game including the spin-offs the music, everything in this game is amazing plus it’s actually difficult without rom hacks.
Im always thinking the same. I don't care at all because i was able to enjoy it a lot in its time... and now
I would love to have more of it, of course... But life is not perfect, idk if we, mankind, deserve that much after all we have or haven't done :P
@@unpatitoRUthe funny thing is gamefreak just recently implemented double battles only for the new dlc. I’d prefer a remaster of this tho
@@chillinglikeavillfulwhile I have come to appreciate Col more, it still has a lot flaws and issues. No wild battles, so no way to grind up levels. No exploring of routes between cities and towns. Only saving at Pokémon Centers. No way to catch other Pokémon other than the 57 or so Shadow Pokémon (which were almost exclusively Johto, if not all). Shadow Pokémon only have one move. Enemy trainers only have one shadow Pokémon.
Some of these issues were fixed in XD, like having wild spots, a bigger roster of Pokémon, and more shadow Pokémon - the big bad has an entire team of six shadow Pokémon.
The battles feel slow and drawn out, although like I said, I appreciate the details now that we've seen GF animations which are a major downgrade by comparison.
It's not a big issue for me but it would have been cool and way more immersive to have full VA rather than text boxes since it is a 3D rendered world. Pokémon main line games still lack VA so it's not that big of a deal to me.
Colosseum has one of the greatest soundtracks in video game history. That is all.
I will also die on this hill
@@NobleVagabond2552 same here.
So will I
Coming back here 6 years later I STILL dont understand how this has under a mil views. It's almost a crime
Right?
Unfortunately, Colosseum is not as popular as the main games.
@@NTxComposer i havent played it i probably should, can u emulate it
@@beanieweenow5244 yes, you can even trade with RSE in PC! I did it a year ago, it was fun!

11 starts at about 9:55.
9:55 Mt Battle (Guitar Version) (?)
In 4 years late to say that Mt. Battle Solo and 11 are from the beginning of the credits theme.
12:15 Nascour's theme
Wait, so no Miror B?
I really like your interpretation of Nascour's battle theme at 12:16.
You're hilarious. Where can I send a medal?
@@kevinmahoney4416 Did you just like your own comment? ;P
@@hyliastone286 I did not -- In fact, I forgot I even commented on this lol
@@kevinmahoney4416 I must come clean with you. I am the one who liked your comment. I did it to make it look like you liked your own.
@@hyliastone286 damn, I gotta try that sometime. This gag is actually pretty funny
20 years later and I still haven't beaten this game
It takes a lot of prep and grinding. Just keep at it and you’ll get it! You’ll want to make sure you have a minimum of 1 (I used 2: Meganium and Espeon) Screens (Reflect/Light Screen) user(s) and someone to counter the weather for the final gauntlet. In my opinion, having the screens users makes the final gauntlet much easier, especially if you are lower in level to the final bosses
I was gonna be mad because you didn't do that Miror B. theme, but hot damn that Pyrite Town cover more than made up for it.
Amazing work.
❤️
8 years later and you finally make a video about it.
That lead in of the Shadow Lab music too... goddamn. Slaps.
9 years later...this is still great 👌
I keep coming back to 5:11 - 7:55. You nailed it. You just nailed it.
I clicked on this wondering if I'd even remember any of the songs from Colosseum since it's been so long since I played it.
Instantly, it all clicked and I was brought back. Such an underrated but great game. I need to play it again, and XD:Gale of Darkness for the first time too. True examples that console Pokemon games can work.
Indeed.
Have you played them yet?
I wonder if we'll ever get a another sequel, with a story hopefully!
@@Dave_Chrome
That would be amazing.
It would be more than amazing if they are going to make a sequel to Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale Of Darkness. I’m sooo waiting for them. ;)
OMG, that Friendly Battle Theme, I love it so much, it brings too much nostalgia for me, and I love the Cipher Peon Battle Theme too.
My first Pokemon game ever. It doesn't get nearly enough credit for how fresh the concept is. This medley proves that the game had an excellent soundtrack.
Colosseum is still one of my all time favorite pokemon games~
I got the chills at 6:08 when the normal battle came on.
Same! I had goosebumps on my arm.
Years later and these games still getting sooooo much love warms my heart like crazy. These games were way ahead of there time. Just imagine what Genius Sonority could do now with modern tech a new shadow Pokémon game would go dummy hard asf ong.
When you come back and try to like only to see you already liked it. What a timeless piece of work.
We need more console pokemon games. Seriously.
Donnerbalken and we will get one on switch
SilverRain but those are remakes
@@MrLump There's going to be another pokemon game for the switch that's not going to be a remake
Sadly, we got two horrible remakes of a remake and a game without national dex
Pokemon is dead
@@thewitchpolyglot6625 Not even good spinoffs anymore
😭 hearing this makes me feel like I'm a young boy again. So fresh
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Its hard to find good instrumental covers of this game like this one. You should definitely do a set of Colosseum songs after your gen 4 stuff, your style is experimental enough to do it justice.
I love how Pokemon is generally orchestra but once a guitar like this pops in it's straight up like a Dragon ball game.
Your mastery with different instruments is something to admire, I hope you kept on playing and improving to rockstardom
2:15 and that, my child, is the smoothest transition that hast ever been created in the history of musical medleys
I want another game in this region just to get more of its music; it has such a unique vibe in Pokemon.
I want more jazzy piano and harmonica in Pokemon, dang it!
You just compressed a huge part of my childhood into an amazing video. Thank you.
Same here. Just awesome!
Pirite Town was an absolute banger back then. And still is, thanks for revisiting the OST of this masterpiece ❤
This was my first Pokemon game, and it actually confused me into thinking some Gen 2 Pokemon were from Gen 3, and that Double Battles were the normal battle layout. Took me a while get accustomed to the 1 vs 1 style.
I still friggin' love this game, and XD, to death.
Indeed.
Mirror B ? :c
This was my first Pokemon game ever, so you can imagine that I was super confused to start out at the Outskirt Stand. "Where is the professor? Where's my rival?" I asked. However, I was completely unaware that the game I was about to play would change my perception of Pokemon and video games as a whole. This game remains one of my all-time favorites to this day, if not for the fresh approach it took towards the overdone plot of most of the games then for the awesome soundtrack and badass MC. Seriously, the game opens with this guy bursting into these criminal's hideout, stealing their snag machine with a shit-eating grin on his face, and then rocketing away on a pimped-out hovercycle before blowing said base to kingdom come, all while smirking smugly. Damn.
So thanks for taking the time to produce this medley. It means a lot to me and I'm sure it means a lot to other people as well. Because of the excellent job you did on this, I'm subscribing as well as adding this to my music playlists and favorites. Rock on, man.
Man you just made me cry, because I feel just like you. It is the best pokemon game with the best soundtrack.
@@TheGuardianB
Hell yeah it is.
Man this might not have been my first pokemon game but it is one of my favorites I spent hours days even on Coliseum grind and over lvls my pokemon so I feel like a more over power bad ass.
WhosF1TZZY
Got everybody to lvl 100 on Mt Battle.
I always remembered it as you being the second in hand of the Team Snatch, betraying them and stealing the snag-machine at the same time.
Need a HD version or a new pokemon game like Pokemon Colosseum !
We have Pokemon Sword and Shie...
Oh wait.
We have HD at home...
Wait again... Fuuuuuuuu!
6:10 Is so hype. I mean all of it is, but this got me most excited when I thought back to when I played this all the time. Outstanding sir. Outstanding.
Amazing cover of Nascour's theme at 12:15 onwards.
lol
Smash Bros could show Coloseum series some love :(
This kind of medley would fit so well in Pokemon Stadium 2
Gotta come back to this masterpiece after your release of Pokemon DP Medley. 9 years + and I'm still getting dopamine rushes from Pyrite Town's Transition to The Under and the Cipher Battle Theme. Wanna leave a comment to tell you that there are probably people out there who listens to your old tracks. Good music lives on forever!
4:44 guitar riff from the under gets me every time
The transition from the main menu to the shadow pokemon lab was *chef's kiss*
That Friendly Battle Theme is so special to me. It’s what make remember the start of an epic adventure that I have ever played in a Pokémon videogame, alongside XD: Gale Of Darkness.
I´ve played Trumpet in my early times, something like 10 years. You ignited a flame in me that wants to play trumpet again, thank you so much!!
One advantage of growing up with Gen III was getting to play this underrated gem and also get a Ho-oh *and* a Jirachi (if you got the bonus disc) to transfer to your copy of RSE. god, I miss this game
Love the bass at 7:31 so freaking much
10 years later, this still being a masterpiece
Came across your channel just today. WHAT THE HELL HAVE I BEEN MISSING?! I just can't get over the level of professionalism in each of your tracks not just in this video, but all your others, too. I've listened to many remixes, remasters, compositions, etc of various Pokemon tracks. Only two people have managed to top my favorites list (you included). Buuut, only ONE has EVER made me LITERALLY say, "Wooooooooowwwww...." when I listened to their songs for the first time. You, my good sir, are that person. YOU MADE ME CRY THROUGH THE WHOLE "6. Friendly Battle (First Battle)" TRACK! Seriously... You made a FRIGGEN TWENTY-SIX YEAR OLD GUY CRY! If that isn't what is called talent, then NOTHING is worthy of being called that. You just picked up a subscriber. I now eagerly and rather impatiently await to listen to your future masterpieces. Keep up the godly work!
nice pfp
This is my childhood in one video
Chilling at home while in quarantine while listening to your music and the typhlosion at 7:35 is called Corona, you knew it, right?
He just used Future Sight, is all.
It's Chuggaaconroy's Typhlosion. It had nothing to do with the virus that would ravage the world seven years later - it was something about stars or whatever.
@@hyliastone286 you're joking, aren't you?
@@sersacchiotto Yup. Well, I'm being the "straight man," as it were.
@Yotecai Luz Oh yeeeeaaah... I think I remember Chuggaa saying something to that effect.
It's a shame we will never get a remake of this masterpiece
2019 still one of my absolute fav things on the Internet, bravo
7:35 Look at Typhlosions name, then at Dr. Pez' face
This video predicted it in 2013
Is he wearing a mask? LMAO
7:04 transition blew me out of the water !!!!
even as a kid i never quite understood why/how this game had such an absolutely banger of a soundtrack.
most of this just sounds exactly like what my childhood brain remembers.
I swear you didn't change a thing x'D
If there was ever an anime for Colosseum, this would be the soundtrack.
This the hardest Pokémon has ever been
0:53 with the visuals of Wes taking off on his bike as Team Snagem trails behind him is just godly
thanks for this. Im not getting tired of listen this over and over again.
Only the fact that Typhlosion is named CORONA (7:47), proves that this Medley was ment to be listened during these pandemic times in 2020.
Fun fact it’s from a Chuggaaconroy video who did a let’s play on the series. 10/10 recommend.
7:36 AND he's wearing a mask 😲😲😲

@@dogla2108 It's probably named after the beer.
Lol
This video is a treasure.
Over 10 years old huh. I wonder how much I've actually listened to this in that decade of time. It certainly hasn't stopped slapping, that's for sure.
This is so damn professional. Years from now, I'll look back on these videos and remember back before you had 100,000+ subs and think, "Yeah...I knew about him before he was cool" *hipster*
my favorite part was the ""Friendly Battle (First Battle)"" part wished there was a separate version of it.
God the battle themes are so good...
The best ever
And now a new generation will get to experience this wonderful music, and then realize how wonderfully you’ve covered it
that transition from main menu theme into the shadow pokémon lab is SMOOTH!!!
I had goosebumps the entire time. What a wonderful medley to one of Pokemon's underrated classics; bravo my friends, Bravo!
This is beautiful.
I'M LITERALLY CRYING RIGHT NOW. MY CHILDHOOD.
All these songs go so hard for no reason
Lol, 2013, typhlosions name is "Corona" and the dude playing was wearing a mask. He saw into the future :x

THANK YOU for this amazing work, music and video!!!
I've always LOVED the music from pokémon colosseum, so i had really high expectations when i clicked this video....and you totally crushed them, this is flippin' awesome!! I'd almost go as far as saying this is as good (or better) than the original!
Thank you so much for making this nostalgic music, i just enjoyed and miss this game sooo much. Your music is great, please keep doing this!
Totally friggen subbed!!
Since we are talking memories from this game, i would like to share my best and my worst;
The first time playing through this game was absolutely the best gaming experience i've ever had, just loved the starters, story, constant double-battles and of course the music. One of my best memories was getting Ho-Oh from defeating the whole Mt. Battle, phew what a job
And yea, that was my worst memory, climbing the whole of Mt. Battle without gaining exp.... yea... Keep making awesome videos, LOVED THIS SONG!
I listen to this almost daily, it is simply amazing.
I like the fact that Colosseum made you actually think out the battles because you couldn't grind instead of mindlessly spamming the A button in hand held single battles. (usually).
7:28 foreshadowed 2020 seven years ago.
He's even wearing a facemask
Musique magnifique merci Fuka et Kid

Once every few months, I get just the right type of high to come to this video and jam out while you play the best soundtrack of any video game ever in my opinion. I know you get a lot of viewers so you probably won't see this but I just want you to know how happy this video has made me so I can live this nostalgia trip all in one place with some wonderful instrumentals by you. Last week I fixed my broken gamecube, bought some new controllers, built myself a little nostalgia corner and started playing Colosseum again. I can't possible explain how much I love this video. Colosseum was a great part of my childhood, and I never expected to hear a colosseum cover this good!
I do have a question though. Is the original music playing on the background? Or is that also played by you? (Just curious :p).
