    Just sharing some study notes I took from the video:
    核 - かく = nuclear, nucleus or core of something
    核兵器 = nuclear weapons
    核のごみ = nuclear waste
    核戦争 = nuclear war
    核攻撃 = nuclear attack
    鍵 - かぎ = key
    Could be used as a metaphorical sense or literally as “key”.
    大佐 - たいさ = colonel
    棟 -とう= building (counter). Can often be used to count buildings, but also to count wings of a building like “東棟” (the east building = ひがしとう), “病棟” (the hospital wingびょうとう).
    発射 - はっしゃ = fire/launch
    P.s: it can also be used as a する verb.
    Examples: 発射ボタン(launch button); 発射する (to launch); ミサイル発射 (a missile launch).
    核弾頭 - かくだんとう = nuclear warheads
    かまわない = I don’t mind
    基地 - きち = base (military).
    Examples: 民間の基地 - みんかんのきち = civilian base; 空軍基地 - くうぐんきち= air force base; 海軍基地 - かいぐんきち- A naval base.
    起爆 - きばく= detonation
    地下- ちか= underground .
    Examples: 地下室 - ちかしつ = A basement room; 地下鉄 - ちかてつ= underground train; 地下街 - ちかがい= an underground shopping street.
    遺伝子 - いでんし= genes
    Examples: 遺伝子治療 - いでんしちりよう = gene therapy;
    助ける - たすける = to help; save; rescue.
    Examples: 命を助ける = to save a life/いのちたすける.
    探す - さがす= to search; look for.
    人間= にんげん= human being.
    言ったでしょ = I told you.
    撃つ = うつ = to shoot (a gun).
    撃てるか!?= Can you shoot!?
    新米 = rookie
    止める- とめる= to stop/prevent
    隠す-かくす= to hide/to conceal
    If you want to just say “hide”, you use the intransitive 隠れる。
    はずだ = it should be… (expectation).
    You use it in the end of a sentence.
    For polite version use はずです
    とにかく= at any rate
    んだ= explaining/giving orders
    ところだ = express what is about to or is happening.
    Used to express something happening right now = When the verb thats comes before is in the ている form, the progressive form. Ex: 勉強しているところだ.

    This is a great format! I think the grammar part is the most useful and could be longer (as in more grammar) in future videos since it is easy to learn vocab from anki cards but for grammar rules it is helpful to get a short explanation.

      I agree that grammar is not as needed in this format given you already have dedicated videos for them. That said, adding a couple more grammar points wouldn’t hurt as long as they’re easy to explain (since harder grammar points might make the video too long).

    What I like about this format is often when trying to get through a new story I find I miss one or 2 key words or phrases and so while I understand the moment to moment action I lose the over all plot. Focusing in on the key words to listen in for is a great way to help focus in to try playing the game without having to do your usual format of multi hour play through videos (which I do also love)

  • @SonarHD
    @SonarHD 21 день тому +2

    Matt, great video as always!!
    My only suggestion would be to mention the Kanji meanings of each word. You did it for some, but not all of the words, like 大佐 = Big Help lol. It’s funny to think of it that way, but it makes sense. I feel like this makes words stick better for me, so it might help others too.
    Keep up the great work!!

    I agree that things like grammar, slang, and older archaic speech would be the things that trip up most of those that like to receive help from these types of videos. Speaking for myself, learning verbs and nouns in isolation isn't necessarily a difficult hurdle that prevents a smooth playthrough, since rote memorization can be done through things like Anki easily. However, the analysis of the entire sentence itself and all of its parts coming together, especially in situations heavy on different dialects, slang, or older speech, is the prime helpful aspect of the vocab series.
    Either way, I appreciate the content.
