    COLLABORATION VIDEOS:
    During the summer I work oversea leading expeditions and trips professionally. In the build up to trips I take on sponsored videos to have a bank of videos to release whilst I’m away. They keep the channel active whilst I’m away.
    Other parts of the year when I’m not busy I have my time to make my own travel videos.

    Thank you for pulling the battery apart for us, it's an education.
    I recently bought a renegy 200ah lithium ion battery and I'm very impressed so far, it charges incredibly fast and holds its charge, so after not going anywhere for a while it holds the charge, it also has a Bluetooth app so I can monitor what I'm using as well as seeing charge times.
    Maybe you could review this battery for us? The price for the renegy is £800.00 plus £40 delivery in 2023, very similar price to the one you are reviewing but with 4 cells at 3.3v per cell making a total of 13.2v which my van indicates on my USB charging points.

    Good job, would have liked to see a stress test & surge capabilities. Will Prowse just did a teardown on the Li Time 100A battery with hi & low temp sensors that worked as stated & a BMS that could surge to 300A-500A for 5 seconds or 100A continuous. Seems like a decent product for price.

      Same. Running 2x 12v-100 for my 24v trolling motor. A full 8 hours of fishing/trolling/spot locking and the batteries are still at 75% charge. If these last even 5 years I'll be pleased. Cheaper than the X2 AGM's I've been running that barely made it 4 years.

  • @wheelsadventures3436
    @wheelsadventures3436 Рік тому +3

    That's a well made battery to be honest. Can't go wrong with that. You could even make it "smart" by adding a better BMS for 50-100 quid more and its still under £1000.
    I think that data sheet you were reading was advise on what you should set your battery disconnect to (externally) to gain more cycles out of it. I would presume the BMS cuts out at 10V / 2.5V per cell on the low end and 14.6V / 3.65V and on the high end.
    I always say the BMS should be the last resort / failsafe. The cut outs for chargers / discharge should be external and the BMS is there if those systems fail.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  Рік тому +1

      I agree, A BMS should be a lost resort for battery safety, not a first. That could be case for disconnecting but wasn’t how I read it / maybe misread it
      BMS swap could be done with a bit of soldering

    Are these batteries direct replacements for lead acid? Can I drop them in my motor home for house batteries and not have to touch the charging system? I kind of gather the BMS takes care of that right?

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  9 місяців тому +1

      They can be in a sense. It’s depends on the system. A BMS is a safe guard for a battery. Charging a lithium in lead acid settings will work before it’s not the most healthy for it, depending on the charger settings the BMS might stopping charging

    • @piquat1
      @piquat1 9 місяців тому +1

      @@MispronouncedAdventures So do the ones that are billed as "direct drop in replacements" need a lithium charger? I read amazon reviews and most of those people with motor homes just remove the old lead acid or agm batteries and drop the new ones in. No mention of switching chargers.
      Maybe I should contact Li Time and see what they say.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  9 місяців тому

      @piquat1 any lithium battery is better off having a lithium charger or lithium charger settings. They are distinctly different chemistry and have different requirements in charging. if you just dropped it in then yes it would work. But the lead acid Charing might not be the best option for a number of reasons. also depends on what type of charger it is a VSR or split charge relay if not recommended for lithium and may damage your alternator

    Just bought 2 for 993Gbp, i hope they last for over 10Years to make it worth it,but its so confusing,100Amp bms? It says discharge 1C on their site which should be 200Amp max discharge current

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  2 місяці тому

      Hopefully it works out well for you.
      100A discharged on a 200Ah battery would be 0.5C, 200A discharged on 200A would be 1C.
      So two running in parallel would be 200A max discharge, 0.5C being 400ah. can’t see 1C mentioned on their website

      @Death88758 2 місяці тому

      @@MispronouncedAdventures It was a mistake on the third party website,I cancelled and ordered the plus version for only 40quid difference which is funny cause you gain another 200Amps max discharge current with parallel connection. I also own a eco worthy 12.8V 280 which was 540GBP which performs amazingly on the mini off grid I built,I'm planning to use these 2 for my parents house with a couple solar pannels charging them and that will give them enough power to cook through solar throughout the summer and beyond. I'm just hoping they last long enough to cover their price and save some money on electricity bills. Thanks for the video.

    I thought you might have opened a rats nest when you took it apart but not bad, don’t know why they didn’t put a temperature sensor or even a thermistor so they could have managed hot and cold. Sounds like a few extra £s could have made a better BMS. Get though it’s where do you stop. I was a bit worried when it was rocking on your bench that the cells had swelled.
    Thanks as ever for very informative and interesting review.

      Depends your location. In my completely biased opinion, Roamer, as I ended up working for them after the collaboration I did. We design our batteries in the UK, completely unique design and custom inside for us, however, R&D costs money. cheap rebrand battery are a lot cheaper, but BMS, cells and overall internal components are nowhere near as good

    Here's my question I live in South Florida or power goes off a lot, I have a lot of APC/UPS is in my home.. I would like to buy a 200 amp battery and buy a Pure Sine inverter. I have a Ram diesel truck which holds 75 gallons of fuel, in bed aux tank. should I use the alternator with big jumper cables to charge the 200 amp batteries or should I hook an inverter to my truck and then plug a large battery charger into my truck inverter to charge the 200 amp battery. I'd like to buy two 200 amp lithium batteries to keep the batteries charged, at least put back in 50% back into the batteries in charging. I have three 2.3 amp refrigerators I would like to keep cold, I can rotate power to three 2.3amp frig to keep my draw down..I was thinking of getting 2x 200amp lithium batteries and a 2000 watt pure sine inverter for the batteries, and a 750 watt inverter for my truck and a 50 amp charger for the truck inverter to power to put some charge back into the system..any help would be appreciated.

    How is 800 dollars for a battery cheap ? If I pay 800 dollars for a battery it better do wat I paid for .

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  8 місяців тому +1

      Because 800 dollar is cheap for a Chinese battery of this size, compared to many other brands , why it is cheap is the more important part. It’s a compromise on the quality of components, or is it good value for money? many Chinese batteries are identical on the inside just with different branding and sold at massive range of prices, whilst others are completely different on the inside, some of high-quality components, some less so.
      $800 battery might do what you paid for, but how long it does what you paid for or how well it does what you pay for is a different matter

      I prefer not to mount any lithium battery on there sides, only flat. Flat mounted all the cells are supported, side mounted as you can see in this case would have all of the cells supported, some batteries also have there BMS side mounted and putting it on the side could have the BMS under the weight of the cells

      I’d disagree. Having opened up other brands this was above average for budget. Will Prowse UA-cam channel has teardown on 45+ lithium batteries. Many of the budget ones are far worse inside to even terrible inside.
      As for expensive ones , it find it two categories, one they just sold it at a higher price to look premium ( which sounds like what you are talking about ) or like Roamer for example they develop their own internals for their own batteries and R&D costs more
