Giygas_95 Castlevania 2 is not that bad as long as you bring a map with you. I enjoyed it as much as the other 2 in the trilogy once I knew where I had to go. Give it a shot sometime. Might surprise ya. :)
Why do you keep referring to the Sega Genesis to describe the 16-bit graphics on a Nintendo Switch game? Why not just refer to them as SNES graphics? That seemed really out of place.
i 100 percented the game in 11 hours, never even needed hints. the levels seemed to be designed for backtracking, esp since the time travel mechanic changes lvl design to better suit it. i feel like your review may have been held back by incompetence
I think the comment was directed a bit more towards the sound design of the 16 bit world. It has that Yamaha synth feel to it which makes it seem more Genesis-like.
The switch to Metroidvania style is the best switch. I didn't see it coming the first time. And I loved it. I don't why you don't like it. The adding of switching between time etc... Plus you don't need the 45 seals. Only the notes. 45 seals are optional and yes if you wanna get them all, yes you will have to backtrack a lot
I think you were way too negative. Yes, the backtracking can be a tad annoying, but not thaaaaat much and it's just a little problem when you have some of the best mechanics and level design in any platform game ever made.
On pc the game's framerate isn't locked to 60, it runs at a very smooth and beautiful 144 fps v-synced. Not sure about higher refresh rates. I think this is one of the best games i've ever played PERIOD. The game does slow down a bit in the second half, but i feel it works, as the new level mechanics and looks are just magical.
They were far away from ruining that game. It's only a matter of preferences. I'm glad they were ambitious and made more out of it than just play it safe. I enjoyed that game a lot throughout.

I’m sorry, but your assessment that it should have just stuck to action platforming and no Metroidvania at all is just wrong IMO. The second half of the game was the best part. Overall its still a great game though.
The criticism towards the metroidvania part of the game is fair, but I still loved it. I get it that backtracking may be a chore to many people, but for me with the new 8-bit to 16-bit transitions and the new abilities it didn't feel like a chore at all. My only criticism is that the every checkpoint should have been a travel point to reduce the unnecessary back traveling. Still, it's my second favorite indie of the year, only behind Celeste. Dead Cells comes at a close 3rd spot.
I was really enjoying this game up until the time travel thing got introduced. It completely ruined the pacing and I spend far too long going through areas that ended up being the wrong way to go. I ended up just dropping it after about 8 hours

I will buy the game and now go fuck yourself loser
+Rudin Garipi You mad kid? People have different preferences, so if I don't like a game, I'm not gonna buy it, simple. And I couldn't care less if you're gonna buy the game or not FYI. Now BUZZ OFF and go cry somewhere else, kid. - _ -
@@TheInfinityMaster1 Sir you don't have yo be so RUDE to that person that was trying to REPLY to your comment. If you can't tell I'm MOCKING you for making random words CAPITALIZED.
Oh hey, a Smash ball boss.
ROAD TO ONE MILLION!
hey GameXplane have you heard brawl out is geting 2 new fighters also dust an elysian tale is coming to nintendo switch
I should have watched this review before pre-ordering the game. 😅
A bummer that you can't take a pre-order back, since Nintendo has a policy of not giving money back for products that have begun their use, which, according to them, it has when you pre-order something digitally.
HEY GUYS! On the Amazon UK page for the Smash Ultimate Special Edition, the description mentions 71 fighters are in the game. This confirms that 4 more characters are in the game
I forgot about this tbh
NINJA GAIDEN 💯
Looks WAY too hard for me to enjoy.
Aw, a shame. I was looking forward to something in the vein of Oniken, but the Metroidvania aspect turns me off a little.
The music!
It's super nes style. Not genesis style. Blasphemer
Shirtsaid:
I think it's a very good game overall but a bad metroidvania uwu
The backtracking part has soured my plans to purchase. Maybe one day.
Yeeeeah, I guess I am going to pass.... I love Metroidvania and Ninja Gaiden, but the backtracking and the Celeste Style crazy double jumping sounds terrible to me. Great review!
you'll be missing on an incredible game with an outstanding soundtrack to be honest. U should give it a try.
