Frequent visitor to Siesta Key from Ireland. As a family we have a lot of shared memories here and so it is a special place for us and we are glad to see it didn't sustain the damage it had first anticipated. We have our vacation planned for next summer and we fully intend to be there. I know 10 months from now will be completely different but having said that, we will still bring our tourism there like we have done so many times before and create even more memories but most importantly, bring our custom to as much local vendors and businesses as we possibly can. Wishing everyone our very best and we hope you all get back on your feet as safely and as quickly as possible and we look forward to our visit in July 25.
Hopefully Siesta Key can recover and thrive again. I have been vacationing there 46 years since I was 2 years old. It was always nice to get down there and escape the cold weather in both Indianapolis and Chicago over the years.
Fellow drone pilot here. Great work on the capture. I was born and raised in Sarasota and already had a trip booked to Sarasota for the first week in November on Lido Key before Helene and Milton. I was looking forward to capturing all of the beautiful places in Sarasota with my drone. Now it looks like I might also be filming some of the devastation. It's very sad to see, but I know the residents of Sarasota will get back on their feet and rebuild.
Everytime these events occur it becomes more difficult for people to recover. Good Luck Sieta Key we will see what happens next. I live near the Gulf Coast Texas & know this hardship.
I’ve had the awesome experience of vacationing Florida three years in a row… Absolutely love it down there..Still do..This is absolutely devastating on so many levels… The insurance companies and fema idk
I have been to this island many times to work on homes. It’s crazy to see all the houses I’ve worked in complete destroyed. At the same time, I see how much we’ve built on these islands. Mother Nature is trying to peel the scale that has been built up on her back.
Thanks for the great aerial video of siesta key. The devastation is unbelievable. A friend of mine has a property in siesta key on Commonwealth Avenue. Let me know if you have any footage of that particular street.
3:21 my family’s condo, at the anchorage. That’s the pool& tennis courts. 😢 It’s been in my family since the 70’s. My fiancé & I were supposed to be getting there October 4th and staying until the 12th, fortunately we decided to stay here in Ohio but I’m so sad to see it in disarray. 😢
That must have been a dramatic sight! Hurricanes can cause such extensive damage, and using drones to capture the aftermath provides a unique perspective. It’s both fascinating and heartbreaking to see the impact on communities. How do you think technology like drones can help in disaster response and recovery?
This is nothing. Look what happened to Fort Myers Beach after Ian. Even the damage to FMB from Helene or Milton was worse than this. Stop with the drama.
it's so hard to let go, do I stay and rebuild or do I leave the only place I ever loved. I lived my whole life here. this was paradise, so beautiful. and if I rebuild will my neighbor? or will I be living next to an abandoned house? I can't give up but it's so overwhelming.
They are called barrier islands for a reason. Building on them was never supposed to happen or be allowed. Insanity would be to build everything back instead of letting the island return to nature and beach beauty without homes and buildings. I was born here and I remember when this area was a nature reserve.
Actually doesn't look as bad as I expected - compared to damage from Ian in Ft. Myers Beach, or Helene/Idalia in Cedar Key (other than that picture of the collapsed condo that isn't in the video and possibly from Ian)
THANK YOU!! Finally someone who is smart enough to know these storms are not organic. Get ready, they are exctied to announce hurricane season is not over. They have more storms in store for us.
Blessings to all who read these words. There is Hope. Build back, make the structures stronger, tie them down, raise them to accommodate Mother Nature. It’s a high risk area. Most people are aware of the risks of southern Florida. You must build to accommodate Mother Nature. If you can’t, relocate to higher ground and out of hurricane alley. ENGINEERED CONCRETE STRUCTURES WITH CONCRETE ROOFS ? COULD THAT REDUCE FUTURE DAMAGE?
Very sad for all of those who have invested in that area. It looks like Mother Nature is working on helping florida to return to its natural state, a swamp.
That’s BS. How do people like you get poisoned so badly by the left? No wonder do you hate wealthy people. I mean they’re rich and they want you to pay their insurance right? Good grief
I don’t understand how you build up like that in a swamp? And don’t say it’s not a swamp, what do you call 6 feet of elevation from the ocean ? I cal it a swamp.
I could call myself a unicorn, but…. It’s not a swamp, it’s a barrier island, which is probably far more dangerous in hurricanes than a swamp would be.
Climate change and rising sea levels will make properties in low lying areas and coastal areas impossible to insure. Banks will be reluctant to give a mortgage for 15 or 30 years because the property may be under water. Selling properties to average buyers will become impossible in the future as banks and mortgage companies stop making loans for these properties. Coastal areas are a high risk for insurance and extreme weather like hurricanes. People will have to self insure and take the risk of loss. Condo associations are losing their insurance and if they find a new higher cost policy they will be passing on the higher costs to association members. Flooded cars from hurricanes fill the salvage lots. Insurance companies will raise rates and pass on the costs and risks to policy holders next year. Coastal properties will be confined to wealthy individuals that can buy properties with cash and self insure for losses from hurricanes or rising sea levels.
hurricane milton destroyed homes in manasota key: ua-cam.com/video/_aGXoguzxOY/v-deo.html
Pero que horror un edificio al borde del agua!!!! Ahí fue el contenedor negro con escombros oloroso nauseabundo. Nunca se sabrán los muertos.
I don’t see the destroyed building on your add, Click bait
You are soooo lame, my dear!!!!
Atta girl.
thinking the same thing, a bit of click bait, still terrible what happened,
That was probably from Ukraine or Lebanon
I think I saw it towards the end of the video

Beautiful choice of music to accompany the excellent drone work.
Hardly idiot...

They built mansions on a sandbar... what do they expect?
I use to go to siesta key every winter with family. This hurts to see

2:38 Shows what is left of Paul Rudolph’s Sanderling Beach Club Cabanas. RIP to another historic MCM landmark. 😞

So your makes my pain here in my town of Sarasota so much less … thanks

Leave. Im selling and leaving. Get away. We are sitting ducks. You will find another beautiful place, away from hurricanes and oceans.
Go south down 41 then take 776 to Englewood if you want to talk about a place being destroyed.

When will people stop building on barrier islands? Leave them natural for a hurricane defense of the mainland.
Siesta key, like all our barrier islands, is just a sandbar. Go ahead and rebuild, as long as you plan to rebuild again and again..

The price of house insurance around florida now 🙈
Too the moon.: 💢😮💨
@@crand20033 and beyond 😒
Question from a midwesterner...if there is only rocks on the shore, does this also mean there is no more sand underwater? 😢

not mother nature.
cloud seeding, geoengineering. research it. Gods of Tyranny.
How much do you wanna bet me that this level of destruction happens again in the next 10 years? In Florida in the same general area??
I'll bet it will happen next year. Seems pointless to fix it.
Building houses so near to the beach, in a region prone to hurricanes and storm surge, is foolishness
I try not to judge but I don't know why anyone would build on a barrier island
@@dadada70pp I guess that they just want to be special
Such devastation! What now?
ByeBye florida
I put you all in the hands of the Univers.

The one common thread is most of these people want you the taxpayer to subsidize their insurance. What do you think Federal Flood Insurance is?
That’s BS. How do people like you get poisoned so badly by the left? No wonder do you hate wealthy people. I mean they’re rich and they want you to pay their insurance right? Good grief
And here comes the mosquitos and animals
Build up like in the Carolinas
and most had no home insurance.
Clickbait I agree. It shows the devastation, but not like in the picture.😅
Click bait intro slide. Don't click
I have no pity for fools who have more dollars than sense.
Do not build your house on the sand, but upon the rock.
No music please
Also add street labels or landmarks
Move to México.

@@bettyparker3317 barrier islands protect the swamps. None of Florida should be built on. It’s all a swamp. Average elevation of 6 feet is a swamp.
Most trees still have green leaves. Couldn’t have been that bad.
