I watched several of these videos and couldn't find how you determine which sensor bar is bad. I was about to change both when I noticed there was quite a bit of lint where the wires connect to sensor bars. I cleaned that out and tried dryer without replacing either bar. Worked like a charm. Guess it wasn't getting a good connection. Might try that before buying unnecessary parts, just saying. I appreciate these videos though. I was apprehensive trying this on my own but the clear instructions gave me confidence to try. Thanks!

Thank you Jason! Cleaned the connections and the lint that built up in the filter housing. All fixed! Also, thank you Repair Clinic.

These are just metal bars right? Surely they shouldn't go bad that quick.

My Samsung dryer (model DX50F9A8E) would turn on but then would stop and after a few minutes would start again....to the gentleman that provided the information about cleaning the 2 metal sensors before taking the housing filter apart...THANK YOU! (I lost the thread to reply with this comment). But thats exactly what I did, I cleaned the metal sensors with a dish wash sponge (rough side) and that did the trick. Over time, the fabric softener sheets do cover the sensors with that grime or oily substance.

This was simple and extremely useful. It helped me understand where the moisture sensor was and how a stuck dryer wipe’s was the culprit in causing my dryer to stop too early. Thank you!

This video may apply to most Samsung front loading dryers. However, for models in the DV520 family, there is an extra screw holding the filter housing that is located to the front of the unit. In order to remove the housing, the unit's front panel must be removed. Please refer to any video showing the removal of the front panel first before, then attempt to remove the 3 screws securing the filter housing from inside the unit. I will give it another try tomorrow after work and edit this comment accordingly, if needed.

1-MY wife complained of Dryer not ending dry cycle in auto mode
2-Looked around and followed this video procedure to replace sensors
3- However failing, had her show me issue on actual machine
4- Turns out she had the "Wrinkle Prevent" button depressed extending cycle 90 minutes
5- Turned Wrinkle Prevent Button off, now all is ok (I'am sure they are just metal plates, unlikely to fail as they are just conductors )

Remove those sensor bars and clean BEHIND them. Mine had lint packed behind them. Some Samsung models have only one screw and a pinch tab to remove them. No need for replacement- There's no moving parts - nothing to burn out .

Hello I did measure 8.5v between the two sensor bars with the dryer plugged in and on. Is this value good or bad? It's a Samsung dryer and the problem is that is that dose not finish the cycle. And the clothes are wet. I did open the unit cleaned and check the heater check the thermoswitches and the sensors nothing wrong there. Don't know what the problem is. The bearing in the back needs replacement but first I would like to see that is running. Model number SDC3D702 Samsung

On my model no. DV328AEW/XAA (model no. is found inside door or on back of dryer) you do NOT need to remove the large, gray plastic housing shown here. Rather, the moisture sensor bars are held in a smaller plastic housing with ONE SCREW in the bottom of the larger gray plastic housing. Look inside carefully with a flashlight BEFORE removing the screws shown in this video. On my model, simply remove that 1 screw in the smaller housing and withdraw the small, gray, plastic housing a bit to disconnect the electrical leads to the sensor bars. The sensor bars and housing then come out as a small unit. You can then take the small unit to a work area and remove the sensor bars and clean them and the small housing. Lint gets trapped all around the bars; that may be the only problem.

    • @mushbert
      @mushbert 8 років тому

+YamahaC7SRG The DV337AEG also has this separate module. When I removed it it seemed to be wedged in place, and it took more force than I like to extract it... To get it back in I had to take off the filter assembly as well - it felt like the wire leads were butting against something.

How do you determine the moister sensor is the issue? My dryer model no DV52J8700EP will start but will not dry. The belt does not engage the barrel and the heater will not kick on. Samsung Support says most likely a sensor, but would not specify which sensor without a repair man looking at it.

samsung dryer dv395etpasu/a1 was drying everything but towels (on any setting) but now nothing dries. The air is cold so wouldn't that be the heating element over the thermistor? The screen shows drying cycle.
Drying with this thing has always been weird from day one. Sensor drying never seemed to work but this video might show that problem. The only problem now is drying everything on any cycle.

If you do this I suggest wearing gloves, as there were sharp metal burrs all along the edges of the metal strips in my dryer. The strips were clogged with bits of lint, but also many threads from towel fringes, I have to wonder if any of the mystery holes in my clothes were caused by them catching behind them. After cleaning I filed them smooth.

After running the dryer again with a load of towels, I can confirm that the moisture sensor worked far better. Unfortunately removing the metal strips can easily bend them out of shape, which makes them catch on fabric even more. Rather than replace them I filled in the start of the gaps with Bondic, seems to work well. Not sure how long it will last, but it's supposed to be stable up to 65C; at high heat my dryer reaches about 50C.
