I thought it was quite sad when she was talking about the door in the servant's quarters, and how it had been turned so that the servants couldn't see the beautiful side of the door, and that was for the "grand folks" to see. I understand the times, and how the whole "people classing" thing worked.....but it's still a bit sad.

Leaving the childhood home I had my happiest and unhappiest memories within taught me alot. It taught me that nowhere is home indefinitely. I never grew attached to a home ever again and so never wanted for a permanent residence in my adult life. People I know are buying houses, getting married, accumulating stuff. I'm not but I don't feel bad about it. I feel a sense of freedom from it.
