- Thanks for clicking on my stuff. Tell all your friends about it so I can make more. Personally I don't have the patience to play zoners, but I wanted to help everyone understand them just a bit better. Best people to watch throw fireballs are probably NuckleDu and Daigo. They should nerf Guile though, not a lot, but he's been top one ever since JP got nerfed the first time. That's all. Subscribe!
Songs I Used:
Vega (Claw) Theme - Street Fighter V
Desert Stage - Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
JP Theme - Street Fighter 6
Guile Theme - Street Fighter V
Doctor Strange Theme - Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

"Life is like a box of Guiles. You never know whether you gonna get a sonic boom or a flash kick."
- Ryu Gump -
I throw fireballs because I am here, and you're all the way over there, and I'd like to keep it that way.
you'll do well man. This kind of quality won't go unnoticed
As a Guile main, it is *EXTREMELY* bad when you make the wrong call and throw a Boom. I know I should be holding onto the Flash Kick and I even yell out loud to myself that my opponent is going to jump but my autopilot is Billy Boomer, the Charge Back > Forward + Punch-ing-est Guile player known to man.
Regardless, primo quality on this video and always glad to see Dupefrog making his rounds. D.3.S. Frog got a new couch last week and all the T.A.D.P.O.L.E.'s love it.
Billy boomer kicks my ass every time I run into him it's bad
That ryu chipping out ken in the corner was so fucking cool
One thing I don't think you mentioned, although it was somewhat implied, is that most fireballs tend to become safer on block the further they travel. The framedata on most wikis is when they are blocked on the first active frame, but the longer it moves, the quicker the recovery animation (which is happening regardless) finishes, meaning a fireball that's like -5 point blank can be +3 across the stage. While obviously trying to punish a raw fireball from across the stage is stupid, there's some cases where it's more ambigious, such as a Bridget yo-yo in neutral. Sometimes she's negative and sometimes she's plus and it's hard to tell.
I’d be interested to see a video about fireballs in a more aggressive game like guilty gear or skull girls, as the role they take is the same at core, but very different in effect
Yeah, as a Faust, I can straight up just duck under them, that would completely break the balance of street fighter
@@ianweckhorst3200 Not a SF6 fan, but doesn't Aki have a crawling movement option?
@@Doc27901 she does and it does go under fireballs, but Unless the opposent severely misstimes a fireball she doesn't get much from it apart from dodging the fireball. Her dive move has full fireball invuln but requires you to go into the stance first and then do the dive which has a pretty long startup, so you're only going to dive through fireballs on hard reads, and eat a fat punish if you're wrong. But her being able to crawl under fireballs does have some pretty good applications in certain match-up where she can threaten pressure while dodging a fireball unlike other characters who are stuck in blockstun.
@@ianweckhorst3200this is only partly true. GG has ground projectiles like gun flame that would hit Faust. SF has Juri (and now Terry) that could do the same
the amount of small channels putting out high quality videos about street fighter is insanely high compared to any other topic i've seen, subbed great video
👀 Thanks for the video--fireballs are definitely something us 30yr SF veterans been working with for a while now. 😄....what strikes me most is that I'm actually super surprised your channel name was available for you--that's awesome.
The quality of this video is CRAZY good. Absolutely lovely video
woww, great video! imagine my surprise in opening your channel and seeing you are just starting!!! insane quality!! keep up 🚨❤️🔥
This video will blow up from getting shared with new players, since it's a concise way to explain spam to new players.
You gonna make it. Your videos are well made and the effort shows.
Thank you for showing me the beautiful theme of Vega. Even if I love fighting game, I don't Play very much of them. There are so many games ou there that I chose to go experience them. And for this I am thankful, because I found the thing I love most, which is music. I was raised playing KOF, and the ost there is godlike, cutting edge, save the universe, etc. Tekken has some amazing music also.
schrödingers guile. Did not expect to be hit by philosophy of this level.
Street Fighter has always been a quantum physics game.
Holy, the video is so well made. You'll surely blow up my man. Keep it up
Love this editing style. So entertaining!
I don't know what to call this kind of content but I enjoyed it immensely
As a OTP guile player, this was an excellent video. Great jon
Thank you for explaining A LOT of fighting game mechanics to a person who is interested in fighting games, but doesn’t have much time to play them anymore. Much appreciated.
great video man, hella underrated, praying for your success
Music got a little overpowering at times but great video. Engaging and thoughtful on a subject that often gets overlooked. Good stuff.
i drive rush the guile while he's dedicating his brainpower to the "fireball/anti-air" layer. i won a match recently when i noticed the opponent was thinking too much.
Subscribing for when this channel goes big. Great vid!
alright ill admit the schrodingers box seemed a little pretentious for the subject matter at first, but it actually ended up relating very solidly at the end. great video
Following for whatever that music was at the start that went on forever.
Maybe you're talking about Vega's theme from SFV?
@@tamago9026 No, the mamba or whatever after that.
Amazing video I love the editing and style just make the music a little less loud less time it's a little too loud at times. Great vid.
“Would you open the box (jump)?”
Nah, I’ma do my own thing
*hits the random EX Fireball into drive rush combo*
What a great quality content ! Edition, and solid narration are on point. I think you could improve it by slightly decrease the music volume sometimes even though k understand it helps setting the pace and mood of the video, i think it hurts a bit to go to even further quality. Will definitely look more of your content, thanks for your hard work ! Worth a like, comment and subscribe right away
Im just finishing watching the video, its great, good quality
You fool you opened the box didn't you ?
- 🐱
ok, this is some amazing FG content, good job!
Awesome video man ❤❤ hope your channel takes off
Waiter, Waiter! One CoastGuard subscription please.
Man the editing is on point and I’m glad you popped up in my recommended feed not a lot of people put this much effort into FGC content
Great video man, nice editing and a solid script! A couple things to improve on:
There's these occasional pauses that go on for a tiny bit longer than they should, shorten them by like .3 seconds and your pacing will be much smoother
The music is a bit loud for the commentary, it should be in the background more, there's occasional parts where its louder than your words
This the kind of editing that will get big, trust
I'm sending this to all of my newer to FGs friends, this is such a brilliant and fun way to explain the fireball game
just wish the music wasnt this loud, but overall great vid
This video is an excellent analysis of one of the most common tools in a fighting game, I love stuff like this that dissects our relation to seemingly universal game mechanics.
“because we can, why else?”
Amazing video man. I swear you need like a lot more videos posted to hit this level of quality.
Been looking for another youtuber doing some fighting game analysis. Ty for showing up on my reccommended! The quality of these videos are great!
For me my motto is that if the other person needs to Block then I'm control
Because you, my opponent, have to do something about it. And I, ideally, have options to do based on your reaction. Including not throwing them, or throwing them at a different rate. You have to approach me. YOU have to play MY game.
Truly inspiring, I’ve climbed to challenger already
My UA-cam algorithm has blessed me with another small channel with the kind of quality I hope to achieve, bravo! 👏👏
We love fireballs!
this push and pull game of fireball wars makes nerds like me and you happy
A seemingly simple concept explained so well!
I love when ryus and akis throw fireballs then I can use charged dropkick with gief for a free combo and steal their lunch money.
Fantastic video, only note is the music is a bit loud for your voice. Can't believe the sub count is so low!
In that intro you really sounded like the slay the princess narrator lol xDDDD
Or maybe its because im not used to brittish accent idk, but it reminded me so bad of that
Love throwing fireballs as ryu
I can't throw fireballs or energy beams from my own hands so if I can in a vidya game you're damn rights I'm gonna.
Nice video man keep going
besides Guile! zoning in SF6 is far too risky for shoto! which is bad because that was the shoto identity..before SF6 zoning has become a loss skill, back in sf4 watching a good players like Daigo Bonchan inflitration master the art of zoning was incredible... throwing a projectile wasnt just keeping the opponent out it was used to progress the match forward, now in SF6 you just hold the parry button down which became lame..
Shrodinger’s Guile
Dude this is awesome! You'll get a bigger audience in no time w this content :)
Nice video
hope you pop off man. excellent content.
i picked up sf6 a bit ago and had this exact problem on not getting fireballs so this video came at the best time for me. plus it makes me want to try Guile again lol
You can also drive rush ⏩,⏩+mp+mk
u deserve fame fortune and success !!
Like the thumbnail im subbing
Love your style!
Loved the cute may animations
just an amazing video
This vid is awesome, I can actually imagine Leon Massey or Rubbish saying this
Pesk content. I was here before he hit it big.
Great channel!
Sharing this now :3
the guile in the box keeps kicking my ass
I dont need to open anything man
With hands
You should probly use less fonts, makes it much easier to follow!
I ain’t opening that box
Great video!
awesome video man.
That is the title of an anti war song in the wizrd worl.,,,,,,
We hate fireballs!
We? I don’t speak French
Zangief! There you are. It's time for your 3PM whole roasted cow
who is we?
Super good video, i leave a like and a comment for you here.
the music is a very noisy mix so during the percussion/guitar, it kinda fights your voice for volume
very minor detail, mostly due to the music itself being mixed aggressively, but i just thought I'd mention it
I think you can just turn down the volume to fix it
if you really want to nerd about it
the frequency range of your vocals is in the same range as the "focus" instruments of the song (guitar melody, trumpets), so even if you turned down the volume of the song
it would make it to be too quiet, or you have to yell louder to be heard over the song
the trick to alleviate this is to pick different songs that aren't so bombastic, or
m i x i n g
EQ / mixing is a whole box of worms and most of the time a lot of work since a lot of people won't notice
and unfortunately its prime state is when people don't notice
kinda like if a train is running perfectly
Finally, the visuals of this video are immaculate
I love the constant relevance in the footage being shown
with the well picked gameplay and the props when there isn't gameplay are epic
Is it still a fireball if instead of pyrokinesis it's cryokinesis
Good video🫡
Amazing video! But what was that first track?
Vega (Claw) theme from street fighter v
@@coastguardvids Wow its a sf5 theme?? It sounded like something from octopath traveler. Thanks!
Uhhhh to hurt my opponent? Idk :/
u got sub from me
6:41 : Ryu and Akuma are shotos, not zoners. You can play them like zoners, but so can you for every other character more or less.
Personally I’m not a big fan of shoto as a classifier. Even if I did I think characters can fit into multiple archetypes. Yeah you can play every character like a zoner, but with how good both their fireballs are I think it’s probably the most efficient way to play them
@@coastguardvids I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree here.
Plenty of people, me included, use them more as rushdown than zoners. That's not really common (or even an option) for "pure" zoners like Dhalsim or Guile, where you cannot play them as anything else than zoners without severely kneecapping yourself.
You can play a shoto as a rushdown with a fireball or as a zoner that can hold their own in melee, or as anything else really, and that's not meaningfully the case for non-shotos.
dupe frog mentioned AYO?
That's a cool way to see it, but how can we interact with someone holding down back? It's not like he can't flash kick any other attacks.
Walk and block/parry through booms. Poke with a far normal. If you think they're going to try to flash kick your button (?) walk into flash kick range and then back out to bait it, and boom, you can hit the fattest combo your character is capable of.
10/10
6:14 any chance you could tell me what website this is this is useful info
Supercombo
Great video👏🇿🇦
Better not open the box, and make a business of super computers that can take down the internet
what is this gold level nonsense? any noob knows DI goes through all that footsie crap
nobodies getting bodied by hadoken unless you're akuma
Akuma is a zoner ?
His fireball is too good to not be one
@@coastguardvids Fair enugh
He can do all
Zoomer thinks that SF6 introduced parrying. Has apparently not ever heard of SFIII, CvS2 or even the 8 or so characters with access to parries in SFV or the many SNK games with Just Defend systems which is analogous to parrying and pretty much every Guilty Gear games' version of Just Defend. There is literally nothing new about parrying to fighting games.
Parrying definitely isn’t new, power shielding in melee is another example. But I thought the differences in drive parry warranted talking about it like it’s own thing, also it flowed well in the script.
@@coastguardvids Fair enough, though the implication with the way is was worded in your script definitely sort of implies that SF6 is the first game to really embrace a parrying mechanic.
most of these are entirely different mechanics, sf6 parry has more in common with a smash bros shield than a sf3 parry
@@Paccyd33 ...you've never actually played SF3 have you?
@@pbjandahighfive
No. But even I know that shit has some serious timing to it. You can't just hold down a button and be protected from mostly everything. That is what Drive Parry is. A "Block Everything That Isn't A Throw" button. It IS more akin to Shielding in Smash. Both have Just versions of it, but the base Shield/Drive Parry is held down and doesn't need to be strictly timed to an attack.
