I'm currently using shared drives to centralize all the docs I need for work. When I started at this place I was using my personal email and a school email. Later on I was given a corporate email (actually the address I'm writing with). After a while I was having troubles finding where things were and which docs could each account edit. So I decided to create shared drives as bridges/hubs between accounts. It works! Now everything is in a single place no matter which account iI'm logged in.
Does that mean that you have all your files etc in My Drive only, for example , and then you share “build bridges “ as you say it , from there to the different Share Drive accounts or groups that you own or belong to? I’d really like to understand
@@shaidashirazi8080 No they are not in MY Drive and in a Shared Drive. They're only in the shared drive. I created a shared drive where my 3 email accounts are contributors. Then, when I place a file there, all 3 accounts have access to this file. Files are in 1 place. 3 "users" can access it. And I don't need to worry about sharing files with myself every time I add a file. Shared drives look similar to shared folders, but they're not the same.
By the way, the groups you mention are a thing I don't fully understand. So I don't use them. They look like a mix of chats, mailing lists, and something else.

The "Shared With Me" is only a shortcut where you can quickly see the files shared with you by other people. You can create folders in the "My Drive" section.

Yes, your account needs to not be a personal Gmail but a Google workspace account. Also, your admin needs to turn on "Shared Drives" for your domain. Not all admins want them - like shared network drives, Shared Drives sometime become a dumping ground that no one takes ownership of or maintains.

Good tips. however how there are very annoying issues i hate. If you download folders or sub-folders with contents (files) within, you will get the following: - files names inside folders with ' (quotes and double-quotes " ), { } (both curly and normal brackets), will all be converted to _ (underscore) To workaround this download the file only.. not folders.. even though it may be convenient. At least Google gives you a "Download all" option, so your not forced to download individually. Regardless of Google's pages saying "Over 200MB is zipped up" I found that's completely false... To test uploaded a few text files under 1k each,, then downloaded them... They were zipped up. I'm trying to find ways without using browser, but no luck. HTtrack doesn't work
You need to contact the owner of that file or anyone with a can edit access to remove you from the shared file/folder. But if you just want it out of your sight, Go to Google Drive on your computer and click on the "Shared with with me" tab on the left. Then select whatever you want to remove and drag them to the trash can tab on the left. A very odd solution...but it works.

You don't account for the simple Joe schmo sitting at his personal home on his personal computer looking for "shared drives" in the left hand pane when it does not exist. If you are not the admin, files that are shared with you on Google Drive first appear in the "Shared with me" section. From there, if you wish, you can organize it into folders in your own drive. When you remove a shared file, be it within the shared with me or in your own drive, it really just removes the shortcut to that file. If you had access before, you will still have access after. If you click the source link to that file after you remove it, the file will reappear in the shared with me section. Things are much easier if you have a Google Admin console, you can sign in with your administrator account and follow the steps in here support.google.com/a/answer/7376096?hl=en

It could be that you're using a basic Google account. You need to be having a Business Google Workspace subscription.
