Hi Olivio; Thx so much for this video I suggested you did it few weeks ago because i really have this problem of dust or particles in my diving pictures. I'm very grateful that you have made the tutorial so fast and so detailed, it sure helps me a lot with my diving photos. I test in some pictures and really works very well. Big hug
Big thanks Olivio, for another brilliant tutorial. As well as learning more about using the Affinity tools, I was very reassured to learn that you painstakingly remove the specks on the figure itself one by one. I've been doing exactly that -- putting on some nice music and spending hours removing specks -- and wondered if I was crazy to be taking that much trouble. But the result is worth it.
I'm about to start a big project. Scanning 35mm slides. Would this tutorial work for that or is there a Infrared Dust/Scratch Removal plugin for AP? Thanks!
If you are doing a lot of those, i would suggest maybe looking for a special dust removal software. maybe AI supported and batch automated. But I can't suggest anything to you like that, because I haven't done that
change your image from 8bit to 16 bit to have wider range. that will reduce if not even resolve the color banding issue. go to "Document -> convert format"
You have to do select the trickier parts of the fish anyhow. So why not instead of using Liquify Persona select the whole fish, cut it out on the duplicated layer, then edit/fill/inpainting. The result is the same, but at least for me, this workflow is more efficient.
I'd like to see a demonstration of this procedure. If the specks aren't too numerous, I've just been inpainting the whole image, but I'm sure there are better ways when there is a lot of cleanup to be done.
You can do that too. Same Same but different. But inpainting on large files can be quite slow and you end up with 3 layers instead of 2 - unless you inpaint on the original, wich is destructive, while my method preserves the original layer. In your method, if you find out you missed something of the shape, you have to go to many steps to fix it, while in my method i only need to adjust the mask. But use what ever workflow is better for you.
I was tracking up until 13:45. Practice makes perfect though. Thanks for keeping it fun

Awesome :) I'M sure in the near future some companies will also come out with AI removal tools that do this for us :)
The freehand selection tip was very useful! I always zoomed in real close with a smaller brush but the freehand method is much faster!
Thanks!
Thank you my friend

Is any way to avoid or fix colour banding? Could you make a tutorial about that?
