Cut the tip at an angle. Make sure the flat tip is on top and angle from the bottom up. If that doesn't work reverse it, cut tip at an angle and make sure flat tip is on the bottom then angle top down. If that doesn't work, I would push down on the main and angle my string up, and if that didnt work I would reverse it and pull main up and angle string down. If these didnt work I might have to find another job, they always work for me. I avoid using my awl to go into the grommet.
Standard Yonex pattern knot placement is on main 8 and cross starts on 6. The AK pattern, mains are tied on 9 and cross starts on 8. This cuts the tension loss in half on the mains because instead of tying on 8, we tie on 9, which cuts the string and knot placement in half, with creates approximately 50% less tension loss in the knot.
@@michaelangelo1546I usually use the Yonex pattern, with a few modifications. I recently switched to the normal Yonex pattern tying my mains off at 8, but I found this Waroo cross starting method better for my knot when I start my crosses. The Waroo cross method is to weave 2 or 3 crosses, I prefer 4 , leave enough to pull your tail. Clamp on far end of 2nd cross, and pull first cross add 10% for your knot, tie but do not remove clamp. Pull 2nd cross and move clamp on 2nd cross to first cross to pull the tension where you clamped and the move clamp on first cross to 2nd cross, basically swapping clamps, that helps as a safety to not have any tension be pulled on your knot. I try to use the same pattern for most badminton rackets, but for Babolat and Dunlop and old Prince badminton rackets that might end mains on top, those I follow their recommended pattern, everything else is modified Yonex Aerobite pattern, with modified Waroo cross starting method, for me personally living in Japan.
My tennis boss made us always do label up, so kinda got used to doing that. The machine is Toyozouki String System 8, a Yonex Protech 8, when Toyozouki was an independent company before Yonex took over, they sold their own branded machines about $2000 cheaper without the Yonex name on it. I had a motorcycle guy paint my machine, if you find a motorcycle guy, they do more tricks in painting, car guys have more to cover so they don't like to be fancy.
I do it if the customer requests it, or I string a Nanoray GlanZ, for some reason to me that racket always ovals out. I dont see any change on rackets with a 6 point mounting system so I don't do it. Back in the day while stringing on a 2 point mounting machine, peoe would add 10% to help oval the racket back to its original shape. Each stringer has his/her own technique. Do whatever you feel is best for your customers, try it out, maybe you might like the way it feels. I like the way I string so I just go straight, Yonex guys add 10%.
Hey Alan! Thanks for the great tutorial.. Wanting to really venture into the stringing world but unsure of how to start.. Any tips? Also, what are your thoughts on starting with a drop-weight machine to learn the technique and eventually upgrade by adding on an electronic tensioning system? I understand there are a number of stringing machines that are compatible and allow you to do..
You get what you pay for. If you really want to get into it, don't buy cheap, it will only disappoint you. If you want to gradually get into it and have the money, then yea go drop weight, gonna be the hardest to learn on and then going to get easier and easier. If you want to go economical route, get a machine you can upgrade to a Wise electronic tension head like a Prince Neos or the Gamma machines are better with 6 point mounting systems. If you really think you are into stringing the bite the bullet and invest in a proper machine, it will pay for itself in a few years.
Hi Alan. May I know how do you make purple colour on the stringing machine as previously from your unboxing video the machine was not in purple colour. Ps: I love this colour so much!
hi the best explanation for stringing Badminton can you sent me a photo of how the blue string is inside the starting clamp for using it when the string is short
Hey Alan, thanks for making this video, I for sure have learned a lot from you! Just a question though, do you usually decrease tension on the last five top cross string when finishing? I have been told that if you don’t it will deform the racket badly.
Question though..once you've locked the racket on its frame the shaft is then noticeably shaking if moved or touched. So as you're stringing it what happens if you accidentally touched the base of the shaft or the holder or the grip as you're moving/rotating the racket in 360 degree horizontally? Will that 'ruined' or in anyway affect the racket?
Hello Mr. Alan how are you? I’m John (Mech. Engg.) from India (North East India) and you are from Malaysia/ Indonesia/....? I loves badminton games and a player too, after purchasing manual stringing machine attached with six clamps. I also started stringing badminton rackets since from july 2020 by following your inspiring techniques-mains tie off both at B9 using gudgeon knots, etc.... For generating more power I started my cross from head/top, because tension losses are always there at tie off... please comment. So far I have strung around 20 rackets, but still I have confusion regarding tensions for mains and crosses. What is the perfect combination tension for mains and crosses?? I used to strung by: - a. 24lbs mains string/26lbs cross string, b. 25lbs mains string/26lbs cross string, c. 27lbs mains string/28lbs cross string, d. can I go for 28/28lbs(mains/crosses) ....???
Hi AK, quick question, if i want 26lbs tension then do i need to set 26lbs for both mains and crosses? or different numbers? if different numbers then what are they?
@Alan Kakinami thanks AK for the suggestions. I am a badminton crazy guy (less crazy than my 12 year old though 😀). We started breaking strings more frequently and I bought a machine to string ourselves. After doing this, I figured I love it and it feels like doing meditation for me so I decided to start stringing service to other badminton lovers.
Hey alan, thanks a lot for this video. I have a quick question for you. I have a 72 grommet hole yonex isometric 75 mf racquet. When i put the load spreader on my machine at the top of the racquet, it interferes with my last cross... usually i would have 22 crosses,, i start on the bottom 9 and finish on the top 7( which is interfering). My load spreader isn't bigger that usual nor the support on my machine. Any advice Alan ? Thanks
@Alan Kakinami hey alan. Thx for the reply. I do..its a little black cushion. It can be remove but my load spreader won't fit over it(the metal part of my mount) because it is a little too wide..
can u please tell me that can we put more tension in our racket than it need like my rackets tension is 19-24lbs but I have to put 25or26or esle please tell me
Hi AK, another question, Yonex recommends to lower tension of last 5 crosses to tension of mains. How important it is and what are the advantages and disadvantages??
These are some very useful tips! Though I can't afford an electronic machine... Questions, I usually tie off the mains first (B8), than use ball knots to start the crosses (tie off at B6 and start from B9). What's the advantage that you start from B10, and go down to B9, before tie off at B8(cross), and the main at at B9? (plz correct me if I am wrong.) Maybe it's because that the knot is just a hole away from the final string, so no need to worry about the tension lost on the outside of the frame? I always make Parnell knot, but now I am going to try the Toshi knot you showed. Those details about which side the mains or crosses should go are really impressive. Thank you!
Hi Alan, could you please explain to me the prestretch function on the yonex ES 5 Pro. What is the advantage of this method? Thanks and greetings from Switzerland. Sam
Thank you for commenting on my videos. I will refer to your knot. Sorry for being categorized as spam and replying late. I look forward to your advice in the future.
Im having so much trouble on the first upper shared hole. Everything ive tried doesnt allow me to push the string thriugh the hole...

Hi Alan where are you dear 😀
I moved to Japan in 2017 =)

This cuts the tension loss in half on the mains because instead of tying on 8, we tie on 9, which cuts the string and knot placement in half, with creates approximately 50% less tension loss in the knot.
Add 10% to final pulls then you can follow the official Yonex pattern regardless of knotting tension loss.
If you add 10% but then lose 50% you're still losing 40%.
do you guys do the same pattern for every racket?

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and 2017 give you all the best.

Hi.
Could you tell me if you use the same pressure in LBS for both vertical and horizontal strings?
What is the different between 2 knot and 4 knot?
the first time you clamp for the mains where are you clamping?

and what tension you have used for main and cross?
whats the meaning of diablo?
It is the cylindrical object used to reduce tension loss when pulling.
why sometimes u wrap the string around the pulley, sometimes u dont, any special meaning behind?
I guess u r not alone, I have never seen my friend using as well LOL thanks mate
What model of machine that you used?
We were using the Toyozuki String System 8. You can find a video of it on our channel!
