  • I just watched the movie 'Oppenheimer' with Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Junior for the first time. 🍿 It was one of the more intense and complicated movies that I have reacted to so far on my channel. I heard that people said it is too long and that it drags on, but it didn’t feel that way to me, nor did it drag on. I really did enjoy it. 🎬 So grab some snacks, get a drink, and join me on this explosive journey!"

The director flipping between past and future is harder to follow. Yes, that big magnet at U of Cali Berkeley ... was a cyclotron. A tiny LHC.

Every time he hears the feet stomping is after he was at the celebration. He had great ptsd about it hence him hearing the feet stomping everytime he thought about the bombs.

The bomb would of been created with or without him he was just smart enough to build it first. Because Germany was already working on one along with Russia. Humanity should be happy that he did. Because if Russia or Germany had it first we wouldn't be here. So the best possible outcome happened. Also without the dropping of the 2 bombs we would of lost at least a million soldiers and japan would of lost 3+ million soldiers. Thats the minimum. As it was japan did not want to surrender after we dropped both bombs. They actually tried to overthrow the emperor because he wanted to finally surrender. The bombs killed around 220k people instantly and months later. But whats worse losing 4 million lives or 220k?? Also because of nuclear bombs we haven't had a world war. Because people know yes i can kill you but you will kill me as well so its a deterrence. Without the nuclear bomb we would have had at least 1 more world war which would of resulted in 400-500 million lives being lost instead of the 70-80 million lost in ww2. So oppenheimer saved hundreds of millions of lives. Humanity owes him a big debt.

A few of the scenes (particularly scenes that took place after the bombing) were both shown in black and white & in color
Strauss (RDJs) POV of the events was black white and color was Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphys) POV of the events.

Trust me, I have an IQ of 140, considered a genius and went to Oxford University. It’s a burden to be that smart. Lots of depression among myself and my cohorts. Heavy weighs the crown of genius. I had a high paying job, worked in politics, high pressure and no days off. But I thrived in my career. Until I realized I was severely depressed and decided to work at a supermarket instead and I’m much happier. Simple job compared to my previous career. Pays far less. But I traded that for happiness. But I crave everyday to use my genius, my gifts. So I sprinkle them here and there at my current job. On social media and write a lot. It’s my only outlets. Anyway, it’s a burden. Oppenheimer was cursed with not only knowledge but the use of that knowledge to catastrophic results. He lived with that the rest of his life. I think he deeply regrets pushing for the bomb and its use.

@@RouxReacts They recreated an explosion to emulate the Trinity test and used clever camera work to make it look bigger for the movie. There's a few vids/interviews of the crew explaining how it was done. Nolan typically uses practical effects :)
