This guy is fun, easily the most charismatic but not obnoxious guitar reviewer I've ever seen
I kniw, right! He's more talented than the likes of Rob Chapman, without being an insufferable asshole!
@@RoachDoggJr2112 who's rob chapman???
@@mariadzlz an overrated average guitarist who’s apparently a POS in real life.
@@psyche5893 lmao what’s he done that makes him a pos (genuinely asking aha)
Agreed! He's my favourite reviewer.
To anyone who hasn't tried a Mustang - please do! They have such a unique sound to them, which I can best define as "true clarity". You get a true clean sound, no chime or twang like a typical Fender. It almost has an acoustic feeling to it.
i have this and is veeeeery bad guitar...
@@Samuelenlatierra bad good.....or bad bad? Classic vibe is what you have?
@@Samuelenlatierra If you mean "bad" as in "it sucks", then either you had bad luck or it just needs a proper setup.
_"People often get confused by what these actually do...and I have no Idea what they do"_
*best moment ever lmao*
Dagan rocks, no matter what he plays! PMT is very lucky to have him, Dagan comes in a plethora of tunes lol!
Kurt Cobain’s Mustang vibes
I'm in love
@Jake42 yeah sadly but you can always modify it
You can play a Hello Kitty strat and sound like Kurt Cobain.
:-D
@@bryansimmons4550 It just looks like his skystang.
@@certifiedhitmaker6717 Never heard of that one. I was never a Cobain fan. Couldn't sing and his guitar playing sucked, too.
Dave Grohl was the real talent in that band.
I have one with SCR-1N and SCR-1B with split coil installed, it plays amazing. Truly one of the best base guitars you can get for your project.
I would love to see the Classic Vibe 60s Jazzmaster because I am stuck between the Mustang and the Jazzmaster here
秋山澪 Veeeeery different guitars. The scale and balance is very different, the pickups are very different, the pickups selections are very different, and the trems are very different. I hate to sound overly diplomatic here, but I would not say one is better than the other, overall. They’re both going to excel and have shortcomings in different areas. If you have any possibility of playing them side-by-side in a store, sit down with each of them, stand and strap each of them on, and I’ll bet you’ll actually be able to decide pretty quickly. One will probably just FEEL better, I can almost guarantee it. Good luck!
yobhsiFehT Yes I know that they are completely different and I just would love to own both XD. Well this comment I made is 3 weeks old so I already did that and got the Jazzmaster. I liked both of them a lot but there was something with the Jazzmaster that I fell in love with (yeah sounds a bit weird XD)
Same, have to decide between Mustang and Jaguar... it's damn hard, but at the moment I'm more on the Mustang side
same
TEST YOUR GUITAR IN A SHOP! don't by it online cause you could get it very damaged
Great video Dagan! It would be fun to see you do one on the bass vi.
Just got one of these today in Vintage White and it is the best guitar I've ever owned. I've had all kinds of guitars over the years including PRS SE and this little thing blows the rest of them away. The finish and the quality of the parts is superb and the pickups are fantastic. There's allot of garbage spoken on You Tube land by people who think paying a bit more for a MIM Fender is a better option, no way. The Squier Mustang will more than hold it's own with the Fender, best purchase I've ever made.
slots in nicely between strat-tele....... love single coils....this might be my next purchase
@@pmay222 3 months on from buying the Mustang and its the only guitar I play now, it has one of the most unique sounds I've ever heard. You wont be disappointed.
Quick question Phil, is yours a nice shade of off white/'bone white'? Or is it actually straight up lightish yellow like i see in every pic of it in every online store?
@@sadwigga7653 You couldn't describe it as white at all, Andertons have a video on the full Fender Mustang range and the antique white CV model features on there, it will give you a very accurate idea of what it looks like. The colour is exactly like the 1965/66 Mustang's.
Phil Dale yeah thats what i thought cause the previous model (vintage modified) did have a little white to it imo and this one looks way different. Anyway, definitely gonna check that video and buy one of these mustangs as well, i just had it down to color. Thanks a lot!🤘🏼
It's got a real Nirvana feeling with a bit of the Clash blowing temperature...really cool instrument!!!
Actually that’s the model Kurt Cobain’s used to play
@@meltdown1276 it is not
@@Camtcan Kurt did play a Fender Mustang though, i think that might be what he was referring to
That’s it, Mustang is the go, I love the body, the single coils, it’s just everything I want
sounds amazing for classic rock and blues, i would definitely use this for Pearl Jam stuff
Sounds great!
You make everything sound absolute B,,,,,y Brilliant . Thank you, ex Durham retired lad to France.
Beautiful instrument!
Please do the bass vi and the jazz bass from that line
I prefer the thinner neck on the CV models compared to vintage modified mustang but when it comes to sound i prefer the fuller sound of the vintage modified. More Nirvana accurate as Seymour Designed pickups instead of Alnico Fender ones. CV has tall and narrow frets which I am not a big fan. Both versions are great guitars for the price. My favourite will always be Jazzmaster FSR 60’s Classic Vibe out of all the CV models. That guitar feels special. Beautiful sound and would not trade it even for a real Fender in terms of connecting with a guitar “ not money wise” as I know you would say sell the real one and buy 4 of them.
That's one nice looking guitar
Love your profile picture, the microphones rule
@@bleachedheat6651 agreed
"This is with them off..."
This caught me off-guard 😂
Maaaan I would be busting out some Midwest Emo on that thing right now
Getting this guitar next month! I can’t wait to get my hands on it, currently rocking with a bullet hh mustang and it is an amazing guitar for $180 but this is just such a beautiful guitar it’s really no comparison in my eyes. This is the perfect guitar for me.
Did you get it?
So do you like it I'm getting one in a couple days can't wait
@@jayyork1707 while I still love my bullet stang this one has amazing tone with the single coils and I love the out of phase option. Amazing guitar. The price makes it an absolute steal but I’d honestly pay fender prices for this guitar
@@Junkiescum very nice, I have the bullet stang and I love it but I really want this particular model
i also have the bullet mustang and am thinking about trying to get the money to get this one. is it worth it?
I want one to make it the weird and fun guitar that I can play for fun and to get interesting sounds out of. If I get one, to go that way, I will probably put .012 gauge flatwound strings to bring a little bit more low end and see how it can sound (short scale with chonky flatwound strings might be interesting…)
I'm literally getting a Vintage modified for Christmas and I'm just now finding out about these
did you get it
@@Buddyman295 Yes
@@Buddyman295 only problem is mine didn’t come with a tremolo arm
Nice Review, it's like listening to Jack Sparrow. So cool!
Just put a sonic blue example of this Mustang on layaway today.
Hoping to use this great sounding axe for sophisti-pop/pop punk sounds!
EDIT: Not pop punk - post punk. Duh me.
I would play garage rock and blues on it!
I play modern indie. I really like the Squier Mustang really appeals to me. I like 24 inch scale lengths, I have a Mustang 90 and a Jaguar, so I think a Squier Mustang would give me a new sound with a familiar feel.
Classic Vibe guitars are really good. They’re just as good as MIM Fender
Do you think its worth it to spend a bit more for the player mustang? It doesn't have a tremolo or the classic switching and that pulls me a bit off :/ if the construction is much better I wouldn't mind saving a bit more to mod the player.
@@Lalairu If truth be told now I'm well on my way with the saving I'm seriously considering the Player Series Mustang. I quite like the fire mist gold one.
@@philjohnson8622 I guess I'll have to try both... When the corona madness ends 😂
@@Lalairu CV for original aesthetically and functionally, and Fender player for the better resonate construction and cleaner sound.
It may have been recorded on a Mustang. It was in fact very close to that time period. I'm 65. I rememebr Billy Preston and Wild Cherry whcih turned from rock to dance music with hit that still puts money in his pocket to this day. Play that Funky Music white Boy which the hook riff is similar to the Billy Preston song Superstition. I saw Billy Preston open for Deep Purple in 1973 in Pittsburgh PA.
The main riff on Superstition was actually played on a Hohner Clavinet model C, so not a guitar. Just an FYI ;)
Paul Wilson absolutely astounding what Stevie Wonder can do with a keyboard. Make it sound like a guitar
Didn't Jeff Beck play Superstition too, in Beck Bogert, Appice....on guitar !!!
@@jonathanlego4930 Not discrediting Stevie's talent, but it wasn't really him who made it sound like that lmfao clavs just sound like that cuh
@@michaelketley876 Jeff Beck and Stevie Wonder wrote it together. Beck was supposed to release the song first, as agreed with Wonder.
i want a classic vibe telecaster but the mustang sounds and looks great as well
Black metal fan yessir ik i’m just saying now i’m stuck choosing between a mustang and a telecaster
@Adolf Hitler Dude, what the f*ck's going on with your name
@@stankcooter which one did you get, I'm having the same issue currently 😅

@@stankcooter you animal 🤣 ... maybe I should go for a SG too, defenetly wouldn't regret the decision
Please please please do a video for the classic vibe jazzmaster
Def getting one of these when I can afford it, it would be my second guitar (my first one is a bad kit guitar)
they are on sale right now for $300
@@spacecowboy2625 thanks for letting me know homie, too bad im broke
What song were you playing when testing the pickups
this fellers like the welsh version of 'phil x' ...... so good..to touch.. the green green grasss..of home
He's not Welsh, he's geordie
I’m dying to get a mustang, just gotta find a fender dealer somewhere lol gonna get my NIRVANA ON.
Ended up with a red duo sonic. It’s awesome.
@@WilliamKnifeMan3202 how is it I’m tempted
@@georgeboolehsbsha5788 I’ve had my fender duo sonic for a couple months not and I love it. If you got big huge hands, it’s not the guitar for you, it’s actually a bit of a tight squeeze on chords. Easier on bar chords for me though!!! Worth every penny, but I haven’t tried a squire though
Trying to find a whammy bar for mine but I can’t find one anywhere. Anyone know which one could fit this guitar?
Squier Classic Vibe 60S Mustang Laurel Sonic Blue
On this video color looks more like white than sonic blue, can someone confirm what color is it more leaning to?
Does anyone know what backpack cases would fit this?
How is it white ? Which finish is that
always try to bend to the right note ;D
Pickup output power? Thank you
If they had it in red, I would take it immediately
muttan
@@robertm.7441 Yup, I set my mind that I need the exact same guitar xD
There is a mustang in red, but not 60s vibe tho
I own the vintage modified mustang in red, it’s my pride and joy. If you can get one, buy it!
Guitar center justed added Dakaota Red if your still interested!
Hello! Does the white color get yellow with the time? Thanks!
It's a gloss finish, if that helps. Gloss tends to hold its colour.
Like his accent. Kind of sounds like a CALI UK accent? Might just be his regional accent.
Beautiful.
I'd play whatever I felt like at the moment on it
Do mustangs have neck dive?
Most important question does it djent
Господи, как изменился Юра Музыченко
Do they have a black one with a dark fretboard...when I was 14 I fell in love with a 70's black fender mustang which was owned by the brother of a friend of mine. Ever since I am looking out for one...but they became rare.... and expensive.
I think that for this model there's only yellow and sonic blue
You can get a Bullet Mustang FSR full black with golden stripes now. Maybe you could modified it a bit. It's really cheap
I always enjoy Dagan's reviews, seems like one cool cat! Fucking cracks me up too!
How is the tremelo arm staying in any position like that? Mine swings around and falls off.
You can get small springs from Fender that hold your trem in position. You unscrew the arm put in the spring and then put the arm back in. They really work. They are called 'Fender tremolo arm drop in tension spring'.
Plumber's tape for fitting pipes works wonders.
my local store has dropped the price on this significantly - wanting to pick it up as a little backup but wondering if the price drop is indicative of it not being great? i know its a squier so not expecting kurt cobain reincarnated but just wondering if anyone would say it's definitely worth it? :)
100% worth it, love this guitar. Even at full price or a slight discount is a deal.
How is the weight of this guitar. I hate when it’s too light.
Larry Born I play one and its not light, really solid body made very well, best guitar I’ve ever played hands down
As a beginner, should I buy this Squier Mustang or Yamaha Pacifica 112j?
I'm not an expert in guitars and I haven't really heard about the Yamaha one but people say this squier is good for beiginers ¯\(°_o)/¯
Both are good for beginners but Stang has more characters/heritage
I have both and both are good. The pacifica has been decked and is just awesome
i have been getting string buzzing on this same exact guitar on the A string i have been having a string buzz, i have looked at the guitar and cant identify anything wrong, nut, bridge, fretboard, and the string it self, this is the first time it has happened after putting a new string on it, if anyone has had anything similar happen or might know please message back.
All I can think of is the intonation, or the string gauge. Try higher gauge strings. Possibly the neck may not be straight (unlikely but if it is take it to the store and they'll sort it out)
@@skny2282 no not yet I’ve been using a different guitar don’t have the time to get new strings yet because another string broke
Perhaps adjust the action on the string??
I really wish all the Mustang guitars had proper switching instead of just a 3 way switch.
Cough cough player series
@@Random909 the player does not have correct switching, it has just a 3 way not the on off on switches
@@GregStraub42 yeah so you pay more for less if I buy a fender I at least want the correct switches and bridge
@@Random909 ah, I thought you were saying that the fender player matched my wants not calling out the player for being wrong, my bad. Absolutely, and that's why I bought a Squier CV
@@GregStraub42 yeah the CV is authentic
now that's a dry fretboard.
i'm happy russell brand finally got a job.
I'd retune it to my own open tuning and slide the living shit out of it. I think I fell in love with that misfit
I would have sworn that was white but he said it’s sonic blue?? Maybe it’s just the lighting?
kéne egy ilyen bazira hehehe
Niceeee
Got this in yellow
Never mind it's off white i think
@@miguelfrias2650 is it any good?
wait this isn’t fill x
Biggest issue is the tremolo is not a screw in, it just sits in the slot. So as soon as you tilt the guitar down the tremolo falls out. While I was trying out guitars the tremolo fell out of the guitar 6 times. I just couldn’t see myself buying this guitar because of that otherwise I would have gone insane. Too bad cuz it is a nice guitar.
Aaand let me guess....there is no left handed version of this....😑
MrZero316 do what kurt cobain did
Jimify it!
Nope, this is kinda really sad. I'm righthanded, but this would suck, if you couldn't get a guitar cause it's not getting produced for your hand, but for 99% of guitarists.
Can this punk?
I sure this definitely can. Especially when you add a distorition pedal and have the guitar set to the bridge pickup, followed by your amp settings. So basically... Yes haha
@@BlynxZero yeah, I bought it. It defenitely can punk. I added a DOD overdrive pedal along with the british/ metal voice control on my fender Champion 20 amp. Gotta tell you, this thing rocks!!! Although i am planning on replacing the bridge single coil pickup to a seymour duncan white hotrod for higher output and less fuzz.
@@Mystic_Truth oh wow that's sweet man. Keep on doing your thing
