Dammit, the Bears had all the momentum and should have won this game but Tomczak had to force that one pass in like he always did and it turned into a pick 6.
It's a shame that these two didn't play in the NFC championship. These two of the two best teams in the NFC that year. Too bad both of them choked against the 49ers.
So I thought Studwell pushed Tomczak back down after the pick six. Am I imagining this. He kind of held him there, till the play was over, then like shook his finger in his face. So I never saw this, I only imagined it.
Had Minnesota beaten a 2-12 Green Bay team the week before, this win would have not only won them the division title, they would have had home-field advantage throughout the playoffs!!! HUGE LOSS FOR THEM! The injured Bears team would have been a WILDCARD! Talk about reversal of fortune!
Mike Tomczak was the most Jeckle and Hyde QB in history of the NFL. Mike Tomczak much like Jay Cutler threw most idiotic soul crushing interceptions I've ever seen. There are interceptions then there are just pure boneheaded interceptions.
Say what you will about Tomczak but if any QB after him had the drive and competitive nature as he did, maybe we would have had a decent QB ( looking at you smokin Jay)
Bears by season halfs, post Superbowl win: 1986 7-1, 7-1, and they played the easiest schedule in the NFL, lost in playoffs at home. 1987 7-1, 4-4, lost in playoffs at home. 1988 7-1, 5-3, lost in plyoffs at home. 1988 was the only season where they won a playoff game, which should have an asterisk as aided by weather and NFL dumb decision to play the game in dense fog. These are just the high level looks that suggest that the Bears were coaching staff struggled at adjusting. When things go bad, you scream louder, what a foolish approach.
The way announcers like dierdorf exaggerate about everything is beyond annoying. Gifford/Cosell & Meredith were the apex for MNF and it has gone steadily downhill since. Today's NFL is unwatchable garbage from top to bottom.
Finally....
I haven't seen this since I recorded it.
Loved Neal Anderson's run.
One of the best games I've attended. I thought the Dome was going to explode when Walker Lee Ashley ran that pick back.
I was a 13 year old Bears fan attending this classic.

Think he was pissed at Boso for going the wrong way. But I agree, he made way too many bad mistakes.
The Vikings closed out the season on Monday Night Football at home clinching the playoffs in 1988 and 1989.

"The roller dome" 🤣🤣 ... Ditka was great

Great game
Great find. The game wasn't important to the Bears, but the Vikes had to win. Classic late 1980s game.

Tomczak is probably a top 5 all time bears QB LMAO

Wade Wilson? Deadpool is Minnesota's QB?

@2:33:13 the key moment
2:23:08 I wonder what that's all about.
