We run these Escapes as part of the fleet vehicles at my job in NY/NJ. They absolutely blow engines and trans between 80-90k miles make sure to do the trans service. Also check for recalls . I believe there is one for a shifter bushing on this model.
which engines do they have? The ecoboost engines seem to be the ones with issues. The regular 2.5 NA engine doesn't have those issues but most people don't buy that one because it's on the lower trim levels and it's slower than the ones with the turbo.
Congrats on the lift! Tip I learned on oil filters (especially ones on the bottom of the car) - use a solo cup after you break it loose to catch the oil. Less mess and you can still do it one-handed!
Nice lift and great channel. I love your content. You are a man of integrity and honor. Unfortunately, not to common these days. Someone will get a decent car from you. Good luck with everything. 😊👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Me personally, I don't buy them, but who am I? You know what you are doing. Much more successful than I my friend. I also would go above and beyond and do extra even though it didn't necessarily need it, but that's been biting me in the butt the last couple of years, so I don't tear into anything unless it's having a issue. Thanks for the video man. God bless
To be a "good" dealer and have even repeat customers your right you need to fix anything you find that is wrong. Unless the motor or trans is bad or it is something you do not feel you can do yourself. That is what will make you stand out and get more customers.
well Jay, despite the negative reputation for those Escapes they seem to sell really well. Bought a super clean 15 with 181k miles for $2500 (which is high ik) and surprisingly it ran smooth, sold it next day for 4k. you know what else has a negative rep but sells really well? the 13-18 Altima, really wanna see a video on on one of those. congrats on the lift ;)
Dude, you are amazing! I am really glad that I found you today and I watched most of your videos! You deserve a lot more subscribers, but with all of this work that you put in I am sure that you will hit 100k subs in no time! Keep the good work and keep sharing the progress with us! ❤
Nice flip. You should use a torque wrench whenever putting a valve cover gasket back on. They have a torque rating for each vehicle so it doesn't get under or overtorqued. It can leak again. Same with mounting wheels and tires, spark plugs, etc. 😎
I have a 2015. 128K miles. Before I bought it. I took it to a local and great auto shop which they told me the transmission & engine was in great condition with no problems. Bought it for real cheap and changed the spark plugs & oil and runs amazing. Only problem for me is the Bluetooth doesn't work lol.
Way to go the extra mile Jay and you're right building a reputation of a guy or a girl who goes to the extra mile and does just the extra things really does help when it comes to flipping your cars my neighbors daughter has a escape and I've noticed the problem that they have had with it in the past is the alarm sometimes it'll go off randomly without anybody touching the car
Great video. Awesome advice. I've recently finished my first flip, and am officially hooked. May I ask what made you choose that particular lift over say a Quick Jack style lift?
That car looks to have the 2.5 engine and not the 1.6 turbo. That is a good engine, the turbo (ecoboost) engines have been the issues for those escapes. The NA engine with no turbo isn't as "fun to drive" and is slower, but it's overall a better engine.
The Focus is the one you really need to stay away from. I've bought 2 from the auction and one of them I was able to fix the transmission issue myself but the second one I took a loss on. Now I want even look at a focus at the auction. I don't care how cheap they are going for. I haven't dealt with the Escape yet and I probably will not buy one because of the transmission issues.
I’m overall you should as a dealer change: Oil, Filters, Spark Plugs, engine air filter and cabin air filter, brake pads and coolant, do a preventative maintenance so if de ask to make a pre purchase inspection the deal will almost be closed, and a good wash on the undercarriage, engine, exterior, and a good cleaning on the inside so you can stand apart from the others
Nice lift man! I started with one of those and eventually moved into a garage and got a bigger lift to be able to stand under the car. I’ve sold 4 of these escapes and 2 needed new valve bodies installed to fix the transmission issue 😂 pain in the ass but made money nonetheless
I had a 2014 and nothing but issues. 2nd transmission and the engine was on its way out as well at only 130k. They're known to have engine block failures and have coolant intrusion. Also known for waste gate failure on the turbo. Id steer clear of the Ecoboost engines 2013-2019 I'm the future for all Ford's.
Transmissions with the "Powershift" are garbage. They used plastic discs in the trans.. My trans dropped at around 90k and it had regular fluid changes.
i have a question for you,i have an vw passat 2015 with125k miles on it there is a oil spillage and air blowing out from my engine at the engine oil cap what should be done to repair it??
I just google the torque and pattern. I should have talked about that. I also used a torque wrench at the last part of the video if you saw it. Thanks for watching
Bought one of these brand new 2013 just like that in the summer of 2012 it was my first new car on my own on my name was so proud of my self 22 yrs old no help flipping cars on my own .. drove it for about 2 1/2 years around put 62,000 miles on it well the Transmission started to slip and clunk so bad driving home from my parents house 15 minutes away and I couldn’t get home had to shut off the car and restart it and the problem went away knowing I have no more warranty, the next day I went to the Jeep dealer and found a new 2014 Chrysler 300 fully loaded and pretty much all that I owed on this Ford escape was negative $2100 I never went back to ford as new cars are concerned Chrysler drove great for 5 yrs and 88k miles and traded for a gladiator welll yeah And I barely buy and sell them either maybe stick shoft a fiesta or focus if they are cheap but nothing els
I don’t get some people I don’t mind if you fix the car and add it to the asking price since that’s a time saving and the car needs it!! Plus I would refer you if you was an honest person . Better you make one dollar and let it continue instead of making $100 and the relationship is over
Worse car for transmissions.. I’ve had 2 of them as flips and both transmissions failed. Not even a consideration for me now whatsoever I don’t care how cheap it is. Time is money.
The lift is a game changer!!! You'll recoup your investment quickly. Congratulations
🙌🙌🙌 definitely

what you think is the best first car to flip is there any low cars that are high in demand or like what could be easy to fix and what to avoid

A little over 3k with shipping. You can grab them on eBay.
I like that lift you have
Thanks
Do you need to drain the oil before changing the gasket?
You don’t have to. Thanks for watching!
Does that lift have a safety lock?
Yes definitely! I paid extra for this one because of it.
hello, great video, thank you
BUT, where did you get this car, copart, manheim or directly from dealer?
thank you!
I do Acv or OPENLANE I buy sight unseen. Sometime Manheim when I can. I only buy from franchises dealers

Sorry to hear that!
What scanner do you use to check codes?
Not sure if the name but it’s not expensive. You can get one on Amazon for about $30

as an 18 year old car flipper and as a mechanic I can tell you like trashy brands. good luck from going from Ford to the worst.
You sure seem to get good deals on a lot of fairly unreliable vehicles. No hate. These escapes are pretty unreliable. Lots of transmission issues.
