The sheer knowledge of the space, the data, the energy, the simple yet contagious approach to how she placed agriculture is what we all need to be pushed..
People forget that just as other sectors are multifaceted in the types of minds and skills needed, agriculture is also a sector that would do very well with all the hands. A cherry on top, it's one of the fastest way to improve lives around the world.
A saying I picked, " We need a doctor every once in a while, we need teachers at different stages in our life, but we would always need a farmer at least once everyday".
    Thanks Thabi Nkosi..

This is such a crucial message not just for SA but for any country that has a potentially strong ag sector. And what a great analogy :)

Thabi Nkosi alone is all the image that agriculture needs, and if she talks more about it, I see the sector attracting more charming folks ready to roll up their sleeves and till the land and feed the nations. Yes, Agriculture can become the real girl, and the real deal if its image can be piked right.

I sympathised with SA but I am glad that we (Australians) are getting your unwanted experienced farmers from SA to boost our economy in the agricultural sector.

The agriculture policies of government are consumer oriented which are in benefit of end consumer. But they should be producer (farmer) oriented to grow and nurish this sector. The minimum support price (MSP) for crops are decided in such a way, which will be beneficial to consumer regardless of the whole production cost of that crop and very little profit earned by the farmer. There is need of strong policies in favour of farmers and more cooperative approach (win-win) in food production like in Western Maharashtra region of India where milk and sugar mill industries are based on cooperation. The view of people towards ag is changing in India, where young people with engineering and other professional degree education are looking towards ag as good earning sector. They are producing crops and vegetables in polyhouse and greenhouse, using controlled condition environment and advanced irrigation methods and selling these good quality crops to big markets like malls and hotels. The ag economics and ag policies plays major role in providing farmers the right profit. The people's opinion of ag in India is changing in positive way.

I think architecture and urban design has a big role to play in reshaping the image of agriculture, but we need to understand the economics and business of the field to infuse its processes in a net positive system of modern land use, tenure and archetypes. So it doesn't just look the part but pays it's way, against competing sectors, through the new economy. I'm an architect and I'm committed to the glam squad.
