  • ‘Dengue Fever is on the rise’ is something which we keep hearing every year. Through this video we will talk about what the cause, symptoms, treatment and prevention. Dengue Fever occurs when we are bitten bite by an infected Aedes species (Ae. aegypti or Ae. albopictus) mosquito. It is a seasonal viral infection that can lead to extreme illness and mortality. The pain of dengue fever can be nearly 10 times as severe as the flu. We discuss early symptoms, when one must visit a hospital and what treatment one should receive.
The idea of the video is to create awareness and discuss the deadly viral infection. I will also share information on how you can protect yourself and your family from getting dengue fever.

Thank you for sharing this important and informative video. Although this is not something we necessarily have to worry about it in the U.S., it is good for all of us to understand and learn about illnesses that affect others globally. Furthermore, if we were to travel to these countries where this illness is prevalent, thanks to your video we know measures we can take to prevent it and how to treat it. Thanks again for spreading awareness!

In 2020, i got dengue fever and the symptoms included severe headaches, joint pain, vomiting. I needed to go to a doctor as my appetite was gone and I was unable to take medicines even got hospitalised for 4 days. And as you said 2nd time dengue can be dangerous. I got sick because of this for the second time and my platelets were down for a minimum of 27,000 I thought I would die and even I got some red dots all over my legs. So I think it’s very important that the treatment is done quickly so that there is no internal bleeding and hygiene is very important.
